Peaceandfreedom, for your poor little widowed swallow. I had a similar situation last year, when I found one of our resident spotted turtle doves immobilised on the ground. I tried to drip feed it water, but it died. So I buried it in the rose bed. The dove's mate abandoned our garden, but then began visiting again and for the next six months I would often see it sitting on the pergola, above its other half's resting place, looking around. Anyway, the garden was then colonised by pestiferous Indian Mynah birds, who gave hell to the doves and visiting wattlebirds. While pruning, I found and cut down the mynahs' nest. The mynahs left, and now a pair of doves has taken up residence. Yay!

I have a bag and a half - big black bags ready to go out on Thursday. Well ok, one is read, the other is being filled. I got the grocery bags of trash, that I was filling, into the big black bags, after adding to them.
I also filled 2 more bags of things to donate - perhaps about 4 - 5.

Great work Di mouseanne and 1rarebeautifuldove Emptied a few baskets, a bucket. Moved a few bins and boxes to the office (where they belong). Got rid of a few empty boxes. Did a little beautification and organiztion. Swept and washed the floor. Now i have a Beautiful Bathroom. (Ok it still needs some work, like repainting etc but its clean and uncluttered).

I emptied a couple shop and drop bags. I emptied and put away or donated the contents of another bag. I am emptying a box next to the table.
Although I am getting very very close to just boxing some of this stuff up. And then sorting it out later. Just for the sake of getting into maintenance.
I did start boxing up the massive amounts of stickers that I have. I also boxes up some of the magazines. THose two boxes are full now.

I decided today - with some encouragement from tnmimi and CourageouslyLion SeeksSerenity - to part with an old Box of feathers - about 250 of them. These feathers were from am idea of mine to fletch arrows from goose feathers and turkey feathers. My birds, I would pick them up when they molted them. The entire box and buckets of them are now in Big Black Bags. I am hoping to have 4 big black bags ready to go on Thursday.

mouseanne WTG parting with that (b)cart! 1rarebeautifuldove WTG, parting with those feathers! I'll bet they were very tempting to keep - I so love feathers, I collect them from my yard, and keep them in covered glass containers. Good job getting rid of them! I've filled that Big garBage Bag so tight, it's going to explode - all clothes, ready to go. I'm on my 2nd bag, half full of fabric. It's tough, but it's getting done. I've also started a Basket of Bedding for my rats, putting aside all the 100% cotton for them. Time to get Back at it...

cyn - I kept those for about 4-5 years. Yes, it was a big thing for me to part with. and it got a lot of stuff off the shelf in the closet. Two more things from there went too - a faded Blue Easter hat that I had decorated with Silver Pheasant feathers - Zorro's feathers. The hat was faded and looked terrible other than the feathers. And another Bag of stuff went too. I realized that I would still treasure Zorro in my heart even if I didn't keep his tail feathers. After all we shared sweet persimmons together. I also realized that I would still treasure my horses and didn't need to keep the rusty horse shoe. I didn't even remember which horse it had been worn by. Probably Simon.

1rarebeautifuldove You're right about always having their love in your heart - and that's all that *really* matters. I'm so grateful for all the support & inspiration here on this board (I should write a "Thank You" thread!) today I wanted to make others as proud of me as I am of them. I set a goal of parting with half my fabric hoard, and I'm almost there. Still one bin & a drawer to go, but there's 3 full garbage bags waiting to be donated on Friday.

I got 5 big bags of trash out today. 4 were ready. The fifth - I filled today. This morning. I was upset, stressed, and just filled a bag to try to release emotions. I got stuff off the back porch, cleaned out the car, got food from the fridge that had expired, and grabbed a couple things from the garage.

Today, so far, I turned my focus onto the bedroom.
I grabbed several boxes and bins from there to help me sort things and to use in other areas.
I just sorted through and tossed most of the contents of one of the bins. I will be putting things back in there - to be "officially organized" later. They are sewing things that I wanted to keep. But for now. I will collect the sewing things into this bin. Perhaps it will help me to clear some of the clutter in the craft room. Namely off that table in there.
It was a great first pass on that bin.
I also washed and cleaned out one of the bird feeders. The food was sticking to the bottom. I filled the bird feeder and got the yucky suet cake out of the one side of the other.
