cyn thought it would be fun to start a "C" thread. So I thought I would take the liberty of starting it since what I have chosen to do today is do something about the cupboard in the laundry room. Rather than be angry that there is no room in there for the cases of sodas I am so fond of to go in there. (I used to keep them there, rather than on the floor in the living room - where they are now). So, I decided to start clearing the shelves, throw out what I can, I found 5 items already to toss. I only need one side of one shelf clear. Also, today I hope to put in bags, the cracked milk crates that were in the laundry room too. I put the ones that I emptied from the bathroom in where they were. I am going to start tossing cracked and chipped things, that are easily replaceable. Like chipped cups too. I need to cut the carpet so that I can put it to cover where I tore out the slippery floor, for now.

Yay phoenixcat !!! Glad you're joining in!!! I am working mostly on that shelf, to make space in the cabinet. I grabbed a cracked milk crate, wrapped it around the crate and so the crate won't tear the bag, and put a layer of crumpled paper on the bottom to cushion it. This is going to be a mixed lot of expired food stuffs from that cabinet going in there. I am getting rid of spices like tabasco sauce and soy sauce in there --- claiming amnesty and just going to wrap it and get it in the crate, so it can go. and not break. I found gravy mixes that had either expired in 09 or 13 but either way those are long over. I will be doing the same with another cracked milk crate and sun-faded curtain.

Thanks for starting the C thread, 1rarebeautifuldove I've been loafing around today - my late night weekend shifts wear me out! But I'm going to be on this thread alot next week! Closets, look out - here I come! Deadline of next Friday, to get as many donations out as I can. Then maybe I can put my laundry away?

cyn - closets, clothes, cups, and even car - so cleaning out the car is included. This will be fun! Well, OK, the fun part will be finding C words. I am also going to stop criticizing things and people. I really need to do that too. It will help me. In many many ways. I did make enough space in the cabinet, threw out more expired food stuffs. I got the 2 cases of soda in and off the living room floor. YAY!

angela I bow down to you, oh gifted dehoarder! Wow, 50% IS AMAZING! You bet I'm yelling, that's incredible! WTG! And a big WTG to you too, phoenixcat Wow, you just started and then you're finished?! A closet in a day??? And WTG for getting to the cupboard, and water put away 1rarebeautifuldove. Big WTG for reflecting on criticisms - I should think about that, too. I'm going to put on my competitive pants this week (they fit! ) and try channeling some of THAT! Awesome roll models here!

Thanks cyn and 1rarebeautifuldove! I did the two categories of t-shirts and scarves today. Much less is going out with these groups as I did a big purge of these last year. So I think I can say, 25% of these things are leaving. I have two pairs of shoes, no, three, that can go too. One pair is just plain worn, the other, uncomfortable, and the third are really cute but I simply cannot stand in them and I just don't have any occasion to go and sit and be dressed up. Period. Someone else with younger feet can enjoy them I'm still keeping a lot, more than I need. But it's sort of funny, when I actually add the items up, the numbers look big! But when I look at the things in my closet it doesn't look like a lot! And my closet is fairly small! And this round I didn't go through woolens or turtlenecks. They will just stay in the cedar chest and dresser drawer for now.

NO NO Cyn - I did a good portion of it on the 1st. First phase was all the hanging clothes and cleaning out all the dry cleaning hangers. Then I put back my folded clothes and organized my shoe cubbies. Also straightened out one shelf unit. DH's folded clothes were sitting in the guest bedroom for 2 weeks - while I waited to get my butt back in gear. So yesterday was less than half the closet and DH did most of his own clothes. And, ta da - I DID NOTHING TODAY or "compulsively, continually cuddled charming cats". My Cs for the day. PC

C is for cupboard over here today. I've removed everything from my kitchen cupboards, and strewn it around the room. Wow, it look's just like the old days around here - no surface can be seen! Except this time, I'm able to identify tossers: empty containers, expired goods, and hmmmm...lots of bagged products to go with my empty canisters! And apparently I'm a toothpick hoarder, with 5 packs on hand. I pulled a box out of the doom room's smaller closet, because I knew it held kitchen stuff. That's why I decided to start here (it's not like I'm avoiding anything...ha!) because if I can put things away, then I'm all set. Now to clean up the mess!
