I hope this is an appropriate way to put in a request. I'd really like to relocate my recent Introduction thread to blogs so that viewing is members only. I'm a bit uncomfortable continuing the conversation in public view. I'd also like a chance to rename to something different from "Hello again, hello" if possible. Thanks. I hope this isn't a huge hassle.

Hi twogoodreasons. Just going to tag Admin for you. Without the tag it may take longer for your request to be noticed. It shouldn't be a problem to move it, and changing the name is super easy.

Oh, thank you so much, mynicehome! Looking forward to getting it sorted out one way or another.

It should be moved for you, twogoodreasons . All you have to do is edit it to give it a new title.

, other such manoeuvres around the board are beyond my abilities I'm afraid, so the torch is passed. However, another piece of information I can give you is how to "tag" someone. That is the surest way to secure the other's attention, especially if you would like a response. To tag someone, first hover your cursor over the name with the avatar, or anywhere you might find it in a blue colour and linkable. That shows you the name to type. Nearly everyone here has the same tag as avatar name but there are some exceptions who for whatever reasons decided to change their "name". The tag remains the same.
So, first you type a "@" (without quotations) followed by their name, no space between @ and name. Grammar might catch that as a mistake, but pay no attention.
I knew nothing about being a forum member when I first registered, and the people here were so patient and helpful with me. Just paying that forward.

I really appreciate the help, mynicehome @ and Celeste@! Trying out that tag trick now, fingers crossed. Yay, it works!

Actually, if you're concerned that a post in Technical Help won't be noticed as quickly as possible, it's probably fastest to report the first post in the thread. Do you see the gear icon in the upper right of the posts? If you click that, one of the options will be "Report Post". When you report the post, all the mods are notified that there's a reported post to handle.
(Tagging Admin isn't wrong as such, but it notifies just the Admin account: you'd need to notify Celeste and the other mods individually to be sure we all see it.)

What's the difference between tagging someone and sending her a PM?

What's the difference between tagging someone and sending her a PM? The difference is that tagging is done on the board where everyone can see that you're tagging someone. Whereas when you PM someone, only they know that they're being PM'd. But yes either one would work to get someone's attention. tagging is explained here: takeonestepatatime.proboards.com/thread/28388/tags

Good questions! hiding , tagging simply announces to you via notifications that someone is referring to you in a post. A PM is a private message, very similar to a post, if you have something you want to tell someone privately. You can get into more detail. Also, to tag someone, there has to be a thread you can add the tag to. A PM you can send any time, whether there is a prior conversation or not. outfromundah was wondering on the thread Lion referred to why tagging would be needed if we have a Participated button. This is why. It will alert you if it isn't a thread you contributed to, but someone thinks you might want to read it. Just click the bubble in the notification area and it will take you straight to the tag. Tagging or PMing Admin doesn't doesn't contact all of the moderators, just the one account named "Admin". We admins might not know a PM/tag had been sent, which is why angelinahedgehog suggested using 'Report Post' in this instance. It sends a notification to ALL the mods. As it happened, we noticed it pretty quickly, but we don't always and we don't want to miss your questions, comments, etc.

Is there a list of mods somewhere? I know there's Celeste, angelinahedgehog, and Script, is that all of you? Angelina's tip for reporting a post for immediate notice is pure gold, I didn't even realize you could do that. Its worth noting, though, that there is no report option through the tapatalk app so app users need to go to the actual site to report a post. I know no one here has any control over tapatalk, I just wanted to throw it out there in case it could help someone else.

I know no one here has any control over tapatalk, I just wanted to throw it out there in case it could help someone else. There is a post stickied above the top of every board saying "Mod team and how to reach us" takeonestepatatime.proboards.com/thread/3990/mod-team-listing-contactI use that when I need to reach whatever mod is on duty that day. Why? because inside it there is an OPTIONAL LINK TO CLINK that automatically sets you up to "send a private message to all of us". When you click on that link, it creates the form to send a PM to all mods simultaneously. All you'd need is to type in your message (and give it a subject line) and then send. (same effect as reporting a post, but I don't have to link to a specific post unless I want to). I can see how "report a post" would be easier because it automatically links to the post you're discussing. But if it doesn't work on the tapatalk app ... then you'd need the "send a private message to all the mods" option, and then add the URL of the post (or try to describe the post so that the mods know what you mean).

Thanks, I'll take a look at that thread. Not seeing stickies is another flaw of tapatalk.

ProBoards is working on a new version that will allow mobile users to avoid Tapatalk to visit the forum in mobile view. There is no ETA for release at this time, but we'll let you know long before hand.
