kudos to you all and to the ones who've ALREADY passed 2020 items once - maybe even twice! i had 322 items in March, last time i posted on this thread. i HATE to count and i can't keep track of the count. maybe a book or something. but as of right now, this is as close as i can get to a guesstimate. i forgot to count bunches of stuff but i want to keep it honest and since they weren't documented i won't try to guess. In June, i ditched 470 items. In July i ditched 173. that totals 643. added to March that is 965. No, I'm not going to transfer what they all were from my list. None were trash or recycle (except the papers).
In august so far, 158. total is 1123.
items included clothes, household, papers, useless decor, plants, stuff i'd never use - most was donated. some was tossed but i try not to toss useful things

I know you've been very busy, creativechaos, with the things in the storage unit, and your gardening. You have culled a lot, and been diligent in doing it! Good for you. We can all do this in whatever way makes sense for us. I like to see what I've gotten rid of, and some people like to read the details. You have enough to do without doing unnecessary recordkeeping. Whatever works works!

499 previous 1 dish scrubber from previous tenant 2 DampRid containers with detestable scent 5 magazines 1 piece junk mail 1 calendar 1 collection of patient medication warnings, etc. 1 plastic bag 3 2017 receipts 1 plastic spoon 1 empty cleaning spray bottle 516 so far
I am going to include any emptied old cleaning product containers. Between keeping all the cleaning liquids from my old house with multiple bathrooms, and all the cleaners left by previous tenants here, there is way too much. And yet I have refused to simply get rid of excess, reasoning that I will use it eventually. (I have even tried left-behind nail polish remover on gunk I can't get up from vinyl flooring. It usually hasn't worked, but there's a lot less nail polish remover than there used to be!) So I need to be cleaning windows and counters and floors, oh my! I need to use it or lose it; therefore I will use it and post the emptied bottles here.

516 previous 1 annual report 3 newspaper sections 2 2019 appointment reminders 1 2002 credit card annual spending summary 1 group old ESL notes 2 mustard containers 526 so far
I used a recipe last night that called for a full cup of Dijon mustard. I had part of a jar of Dijon, a second barely used jar of mustard-horseradish combo that I was given, and I had to complete the cup with some plain Greek yogurt. I am glad I didn't have enough mustard, because that would have been overwhelming in that recipe. Glad to be rid of that excess; I had that stuff for years.

thank you, goldenthreads! you have made so much progress in the short time since you started!
i like reading what people get rid of. maybe when things get more in control i can start to list some things. i like to see the record. for instance, books are hard so any books i get rid of is props for me. same goes with craft or art supplies or nice ethnic handmade things. papers are difficult to, as i'm an information hoarder. keep on everyone! this thread inspires me.
woo hoo peaceseeker on getting rid of all that mail, the magazines, and the returns!

welcome back, cando! the small items like papers really add things up fast. i went through my file drawers and put 127 papers in recycle, plus tossed 5 paint chip pamphlets, plus a rattan plant stand =133. total is now 1256.
only problem is, they're small and make no visual difference. oh well - i'm counting them anyway.
