Welcome!!!! (We have another thread, but it was getting so long! 230 pages!!!) This is a fun way to get started if you are a newbie, or if you are stuck and/or don't know where to start... or what to do next. You can adapt the rules in whatever way works for you. You don't have to make a list for PICK FROM A HAT game!!! (Just put little pieces of paper with individual tasks on them and draw from the hat, sack or bag & go do it & check back in here!!!) Directions for Dice Game: A. Make a list:Example: 1. bedroom 2. bathroom 3. kitchen 4. living room 5. dishes 6. laundry 7. pile of mail/bills/papers 8. yard work B. Roll a real or virtual die, (there's one at random.org)C. Go work in that area for 10-15 minutes or do the action listed, or whatever works for you.Using example list: If I roll a 2, I go in the bathroom and work for 10 minutes, or until I toss 10 items, or whatever quickly achievable goal I want to set for myself. D. Come back and post your accomplishment.E. Roll again and move ahead to that spot on the virtual board. For example, if I roll a 3 after my last roll (2), that moves me to 5. and I go and do some dishes. You don't have to post your list. You may keep it on paper. Suggestion: Take a break, drink some water, eat a small healthy snack after every 3 or 4 turns. Here's the link for random.org. www.random.org/dice Have fun! It's more fun when there are several people doing this at the same time!Cando

Cando, I'm so happy to see you revive this!
I can't play today, but this is my all-time favorite way to work on jobs I've been procrastinating on. I hope this thread survives and gets new participants because I will definitely need it soon!
Good luck with your list today.

Thank you, dtesposito ! I understand about not playing, today. How is your sister, doing? Have you been able to visit her in rehab? This last # which is: shower2shoes will take a while for me... cause I may have late breakfast... well, it's lunchtime, & a couple phone calls to make. Thanks for your support, and I hope others will join in at some point. Luv, CD

10 - kitchen trash
Next is # 1. Dishes 20 minutes spent--put away hand-washed stuff from drainboard, unloaded dishwasher, found place for big box of candles, found place for already cleaned soup pot, washed plastic container & lid. ***bonus spent that 20 minutes also dancing -- so got some exercise in! Yay! Haven't done that in over 9 months. Actually, don't think that I've done any exercise in about 9 months.
Next is # 10: Kitchen trash Emptied kitchen trash & replaced bag, Put 8 bottles/jars into recycle bag, Took 4 bags of trash & 1 bag of recyclable bottles/cans/jars to outside cans.
Next is # 1 Dishes, again. 15 minutes. Washed 2+ sinkfuls.
Next is # 8 Menu planning. Planned tomorrow's meals. Had to stop to look for a particular checkbook to pay a tax bill. I haven't used that checkbook for about 6 months. Then, I had to pay this tax bill... has to do with my parents & my family. Took a long time to find that ckbook, but was so relieved to find it. Whew!
That's it for today. Hope to return to this thread soon. Probably won't get to tomorrow due to having to do some other things & can't be at random. Maybe I'll have time for 1 item on this list tomorrow night...

Okay, yesterday was my 1st Stay at Home day... and didn't do much. So, re-posting my list with a couple changes & starting off where I left off. I'll use the Dice on Random.org & work my list like a game board. I left off at Menu Planning & will spend a little more time on this one. As I get some things done and some progress on others, I will likely add some things. 2 - Dishes Washed 1 sinkful & put away hand-washed stuff from drainboard, there's still more!3- Submit parent's LTC invoices, then banking for parents/pay bills 4 - Find/scan/send to DrBro Parent's Tax papers-download some other tax papers related to parents Round 1-10 minutes, Round 2 - 10 minutes, Round 3-10 minutes.5 - Organize/go thru parent's papers Dining Room Table/shred - 6 - Laundry 7 - Menu planning -- Planned meals, but still need to print out, put together grocery list, etc.8 - kitchen trash1st roll: "9" - which brings me to "2" dishes. 2nd roll: "2" snake eyes. - which brings me to "4" Find/scan/send Parent's Tax papers to DrBro-download some other tax papers related to parents for my records. I'm going to eat dinner, 1st. Oh I've also put 10 papers into the recycle bag, gave dogs 2nd round meds & fed them. Also, called me boss re: payroll, etc ... (haven't even thought about it, we'll work thru it"), & should I go ahead & file for unemployment -- his response was "No, we'll work thru it." Lots of emotional stuff going on right now. DH made a mistake & family members are very, very angry with him & it was not intentional & he meant well. But they just got so angry & accusational that it made DH mad. Well, it has really upset me... our relationship with these family members seemed to be improving & then DH did this without really thinking about it & I don't blame them for being made at him. It's making me physically feel kinda sick... He doesn't want to apologize & he said the worst things that I could have imagined. I'm very upset with him, yet, I don't want him to have a heart attack & he's working now from home & it is critical work. I don't want to upset him more & should be supportive of my DH... who is really such a very nice, sweet person. A wonderful soul. he is just hurt so badly by their anger & yet I do understand their anger & would be mad, too. That's the thing.... Oy vey! I spent 10 minutes on that last round. Set timer for 10 minutes: Looked at Dining Room table & stood there for a minute wondering how in the world do I begin & where do I start. Not only is the table completely covered with"stuff" a complete mess (not neat stacks), but the file box is hard to get to to put papers in & could I have already put some in there?? Argghh. Decided to start with easy stuff. There was a box that only had 1 piece of paper in it. I removed that piece & set it on top of other papers on the table. Then, removed the empty box from the table & put it by the back door to be recycled. Yay! 1 thing less o the table, then picked up Ibuprofen bottle. Oh, it's empty. I had set it there to remind me to buy more, but I just bought some more on Monday. I don't even know how long that bottles been sitting there ... a month or two. Put the bottle in recycle bag, removed brand new hair conditioner/shampoo set & put it away in my bathroom cabinet, removed bag that's been sitting on the table since the end of October when my Dad had emergency & was hospitalized for 10 days. Put 3 pairs of underwear in my dirty clothes hamper along with two pairs of socks & 2 t-shirts. Tossed empty plastic zip bag & a syringe (it was still packaged but had already been opened so not sterile, & I don't know why that was in my bag -- I keep thinking that I was keeping it for a reason, but who knows why? Could be a nurse accidentally dropped it in there. Put empty bag on closet door knob in Office. Probably not a final home for it, but where else should I put it??? I put unopened bottle of water on the breakfast bar... I'll drink it in a little while. Removed 4 papers from the table & put them in recycle bag. Put 1 paper into "to be shred" bag. And, that's it! I can now see a little of the table cloth! (About a foot of it).3rd roll: "7" which brings me to "4". Oh, NO!!! You guessed it. Same as last round. "Find/scan/send Parent's Tax papers to DrBro-download some other tax papers related to parents for my records." 10 minutes spent. Removed from table: 2 bags into bag of bags to be recycled, 9 papers into recycle bag, put my medicine where I keep my medicines on the breakfast bar (not ideal, but where I keep them for now in a blue container), Book that I had brought from Memphis in June as it was a book my Mom had read & she insisted that I should read it cause it's so good... haven't started it, so put it in my bedroom, Put receipt in receipt box in dining room but not on the table..., put about 6 unused paper napkins in the trash (dusty...). One can now see double the amount of table cloth than before. (about 2 feet). .
4th roll: "10" which brings me to "8" which is "kitchen trasH". Oh good! It is starting to overlow! Emptied kitchen trash & replaced bag Also, got today's mail from the mailbox. Put 4 into recycle bag.
5th roll: "3" which brings me to "4", again. 10 minutes spent: 4 bags into bag of bags to be recycled, handful of (clean) paper napkins put away to use, Tossed: plastic spoon, 2 candy wrappers, 2 tubes of RX medication that were used up from when we brought my Mom here in June. 7 papers into recycle bag, partial bag of bows & roll of wrapping paper put in wrapping box under DD's old bed, put 2 medications in medicine closet in front bathroom, put 1 receipt in receipt box. I am making some stacks/categories of other things until I figure out what to do with them. This is where I run into problems: debit card that I received in the mail... I'm wondering if DH got these & I didn't know about or forgot about. ?! Also, a piece of important mail that I need to handle but will not be quick & easy.... complicated, a new pair of pajama pants for my Dad, but I'll need to cut them into shorts due to his catheter, parent's credit card receipts, etc.6th roll: "9" which brings me to "7" Menu planning. Oh good!CD

mouseanne I feel so bad about not being, here, to play along with you. You did great! And, I so understand about all the things that lead up to getting one of the items done, sometimes. I've had a lot of stressful stuff going on & when I started this new Dice Game thread... I thought that I'd be spending a lot of time, here, and get soo much done. My office had closed down & there had been no mention of my working from home. And, then, suddenly my boss DOES want me to work from home. I'm happy about it because I will still have my much needed income coming in... but I had already taken some time to get my head together & wrapped around the idea of staying home. After being down, I finally had gotten my head in the right place & was almost excited about getting things that have been neglected for waay too long in my home. Daily type things & projects. My house is such a big mess right now. So, now kind of a let down & bummer to have to spend my days working & not getting both my home & body in better shape. I miss the days that I didn't have to go to work. I didn't appreciate those days enough in the past & didn't make good enough use of my time back then. Yet, at the same time... I'm very happy that I am able to work from home & got it all set up. Another stressor is not seeing my parents who are in Assisted Living Memory Care. Mom has fallen twice. The first time was the middle of the night -- a gentle type fall, but it was an hour and a half before they found her on the floor. The second time could have been due to her being stressed & weakened from searching. She was in one of the bathrooms & I suspect (without going into the details why...) that she didn't have any pull-ups in her walker bag. One of the things I do almost every day is to make sure she has at least 3 in her bag. They hardly ever have any in the bathrooms because they say that some residents will flush them in the toilet & back up the toilet plus wastes lots of money and stock. Also, they are supposed to be toileting her every 2 hours & they didn't notice that she had gone to the bathroom on her own. grrr. Lots more going on that has to do with their care. So frustrating... Mom had headache the night before last, but no one to give her tylenol due to No nurse was able to come in that night. The caregivers are NOT authorized to give any medication. Normally, I would have gone there... even in the middle of the night to give it to her myself... but not with the Covid stuff. Oh well, they and all of us are doing the best we can in this crazy time. Maybe I will get to do some things on this thread from time to time. Here's my last list from March 26th -- 6 days ago. 1- Dishes 2- Submit parent's LTC invoices, find parent's checks & order more, if needed. Pay bills, check on parent's submitted LTC invoices, find & complete direct deposit form for parents, sent pmt to The Cottages.3 - Find/scan/send to DrBro Parent's Tax papers-download some other tax papers related to parents 4 - Organize/go thru parent's papers Dining Room Table/shred -5 - Laundry6 - Menu planning --
I did get to do some on #2. which was my last roll on the 26th. I submitted both my parent's LTC invoices. Yay! Also, I did some banking for parents -- made deposit that I'd been sitting on. Yay, again! 1 paper into recycle bag Over the past few days, I also got some done on #5 Laundry. Folded/hung a load of laundry, put those away & Washed another load, moved it to the dryer & hung the hang-dry things. Right now, I need to do some cooking... hope to see y'all later. CD

Cando, I saw that you were working from home now and probably wouldn't have time for the dice game. If you all want to play on a weekend day, let me know, I'm free on weekends now!
