Okay, I have a list, I'm going to roll the dice to choose 2 of these jobs to add to each of my lists in the work-along thread. I put some things on here that I've been avoiding!
Where's cando--she's a dice game player too!
Here's my list:
1-10 minutes cleaning fridge
2-10 minutes cleaning plant room 3-Pot up a plant cutting 4-10 minutes on desk files
5-send an email 6-go through a catalogue and recycle it 7-wash some dishes
8-10 minutes plant care
9-choose 1 card and 1 letter from database to send this week
10-10 minutes cleaning plant room 11-10 minutes on desk files
12-go through catalogue and recycle it
13-wash some dishes
14-10 minutes plant care 15-10 minutes peeping desks
Okay, first rolls: 7 and 5, so wash some dishes and go through a catalogue.

Ally, how is your house these days? I need to go and check your blog, if you have one! I saw that you've revived the BIT threads, I hope that people find them helpful. I think the most helpful thing for me was just forcing myself to do work on getting rid of things on a consistent basis, it did get easier as I practiced.
Next rolls 7 and 10, so
10 minutes on desk files 10 minutes on cleaning fridge--ugh, one of my most hated jobs!

desposito, You asked how my house is. My house is full of clutter. It really needs a good clearing out. My kitchen is usable. I have a sewing area I can use. I cleared off my couch several months ago (which had been piled with stuff for years), My daughter came home from college 7 or 8 years ago and left boxes of stuff in the entry way. She hasn't lived here in 11 years, but I still have lots of her stuff here. I'm going through things little by little but have been feeling paralyzed by the overwhelming amount of stuff and decision fatigue. I'm trying to face it head on now (again). Hopefully I'll continue to make progress.

Hello cando!
Ally, clearing off the couch is great, especially if you've been able to keep it clear--doing one small area like that at a time is so much less overwhelming than trying to tackle the whole house at one time. I think a lot of people have adult children's things in their home, if you have a large basement or attic to store the stuff it doesn't matter, but if they're in your living area that seems like something to address that doesn't involve you making decisions, although it does involve setting a deadline for the stuff to be retrieved or gotten rid of. You sound determined to make a good effort at decluttering now, so keep at it! Maybe try different threads or challenges or games or whatever this site can help with--I find it very motivating to post here (as you can probably tell if you notice how much I post!)
I did do the last 2 dice rolls, then I had my very long phone call, had to take the dog out, and now I would like to work on my taxes for a little while before thinking about dinner. I will probably come by here again tomorrow to finish the other half of the list I made.

Sorry, dtesposito that I missed you. I am not making quick progress. I'll elaborate as soon as I finished with that last one that I rolled. I've been working non-stop on it & still not done with these 2 bills. CD

Oh, boy! Here's my update: That roll took forever! 1) Turned out I had 3 bills to pay. 2) Had to pay 2 of them out of a different account & couldn't find the checkbook! 3) Hunted for that checkbook & found it, at last! 4) Then, I had to search & find those 2 bills that I had in my hands about a month ago. They in a stack that I thought they'd be in, so not as long a search. 5) Then, I realized that I wrote the last check from the check book. So, then needed to find the next checkbook. Was wondering if I had any more checkbooks or not. 6) Hunted through 1 big box & halfway thru another, also thru a stack of papers. Nope, not there. 7) Then, I thought of calling my youngest brother who is pretty darn organized & keeps everything, too. Thought mayb he could check & see if he had a note on which checkbooks he gave me - it's a join account. Well, he did not have a note about that. But, let me know what checkbooks he has left & we figured out that I should probably have several checkbooks & the checkbook numbers. OMG! That was a long phone call. I have several boxes/bags to look thru to see if I can find them. Thankfully, it is an account that I may not need to use for a very long time -- we had not used it since last July. So... I'm not going to worry about it now, after all... I am scared tho because we have to move everything out & the several places they could be -- I don't want to get mixed up where to look. Omg, I'm so scared! 8) while looking for the checkbooks: 5 business cards into trash 9 papers into "to be shred" bag 48 papers into recycle bag 3 folders into recycle bag 1 pkg dessicant into trash
Next roll is: 3 which brings me to "Hang Calender" Will cook some dinner, first. CD

cando I am sorry you had to go on the check hunt, but it’s good to know I’m not the only one this has happened to recently! I’m glad you found them.

I know we have some dice around here somewhere.
I spilled the pieces of paper.
Maybe I’m not far enough advanced for this...

dustydaughter thanks for posting. So sorry you have a checkbook problem, too. My parents used to have those type of checks you wrote about. It was so easy once we had to take over & look at/handle finances. (Of course, they had stopped notating those last checks due to their Dementia). Also, wow! About the password storage. I’m afraid of that happening, but DH who is computer/IT guru uses one. And my Dr Bro does too. Scary. Hoping you find your checkbook! Cd
