Turned tv off and music on. Maybe that will help me get started.
50 minutes later still sorting, have a pile of trash in the floor. Took a break to rest my back and eat a bowl of cereal. I drank a glass of water before I started and one half way through. I have way too many leather scraps!!! It's really hard to sort because I know even the tiny pieces can be used for earrings.
I've decided to sort by size of scrap - Are they big enough for a makeup bag - bin 1 Are they big enough for coin purses - bin 2 Are they long enough for bracelets or straps - bin 3 maybe
Earring hardware - Snaps & brads Buckles D-rings Snaps for purse handles/d-rings
Fabric for purse linings Fabric for other sewing projects
Back to it

I have a problem with mildew and that's making me more ruthless.
I need large labels of what is in these bins maybe 3" x 6" with big letters.
25 minutes later: Labels on bins couple of bins consolidated Almost ready to sort hardware
Resting back. Need to drink another glass of water.
I have the scattered fabric in one bin on bed, large under bed box on front porch and several shelves in laundry/sewing room cabinets and some in plastic drawers. Right now the most important thing is to put away as I sort, but keep sorting and putting away to get this off the bed before supper, since after supper I wilt and I won't do much. Part of that is tired, part is enjoying talking to GF, part is my eye sight in lower light.
I'm about to wilt now but I have 1 hours before a break to feed the horse and then another hour before supper.

Put all leather in sewing room, stacked up findings & hardware to sort after supper. At least I can sit down for that. I'm going to sit for 10 minutes and then change shoes, gather up things to take to truck, camper, storage bldg and feed the horse.
30 minutes later: CHores outside done and I'm nearly done for the day on this project.

GF was impressed with the amount of floor space I uncovered in the sewing/laundry room. Last night I sorted jewelry findings and have way more that I realized. I also washed a large toolbox that GF bought me a couple of years ago. It will become my travel box to the farm, holding several sectioned boxes of findings, plus tools and leather. I still need to consolidate other hardware, work on fabric and clearing the sewing machine. I may complete this challenge after all

I mopped the sewing/laundry room today. The only things left is pick up a little more on top of the sewing machine and the top of the dryer. I think I will work on this for a few minutes while I am starting a load of laundry. I may get there yet.

sidestep - Coming back after a few month absence Didn't do that well on my goals and definitely won't finish by midnight . I have a whole new set of goals as my DM and her cat moved in for the holidays and we just recently decided to make it permanent. 2) in the "good" guest room -, sort through the e-waste pile and get it semi-organized for DH to designate what can officially go. Have some linens also that need to be sorted UPDATE: . Room done in order for DM to move in before Thanksgiving. Now we have to completely purge it to make room for her bedroom furniture coming in next month. 3) finish office - go through 2 more bookcases, a large dresser, 2 drawer file cabinet, desk drawers (7) and the closet which isn't bad. - UPDATE: nothing done here - just made it worse and now I HAVE TO FINISH IT in the next 12 days. 7) Release a bunch of "to do" emails - either acknowledge I'm never going to deal with it or actually deal with it.about 50% done on this UPDATE: no idea where I am on this but our tech people are forcing me to do some of it. 8) See if I have anyplace to dump all these donations I'm gathering up. UPDATE: but gathering up lots more and when DM's stuff arrives - I will be flooded with a garage full of things that need to go quickly. 9) work on storage room - I did a major purge in there when I moved all my holiday stuff around so it isn't too horrid. One entire side of floor, countertop and cabinets. And, get out the stuff that can go - hazardous waste/ recycling. UPDATE: very proud that I actually did finish the storage room and got out a HUGE amount of plastic bag recycling as well as a bunch of other speciality recycling. It is cluttered now due to pulling out the holiday stuff, making room for the garage floor to be cleaned and recently losing a cat (all her stuff was moved temporarily into the storage room) She was our only bedroom kitty. 10) my ongoing project of "hanging stuff" - UPDATE: Just moved to a bedroom closet. Decided to deal with it after the holidays and now it will wait until after DM's move is complete. Whew - HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone!! PC

I didn't make my sewing/laundry room goal but it is sooooo much better in there that I actually could find what I needed to sew this morning. I can almost see the top of the dryer and making even more progress on the top of the sewing machine. I'm inspired to keep working on this until I finish and try to put things away as I finish using them so that I can keep this area neat.

Per my prior post on November 8th 2020 I did not get the front porch which is full of tools, fishing gear, etc cleared. I realize now I was doing a lot of caregiving. Now I have an additional inheritated hoard of fishing rods, reels, tackle and tools to get rid of. I will combine it all in organized garage space which is fairly clear. Guys love tools and fishing stuff so should go quickly using our local fb marketplaces. I must not condemn myself for not meeting my goal, just pick up and continue on. I can do this!!
