Hi everybody, new and old members!
I used to be active here and found enormous help from this community. I got my life somewhat together, and stopped visiting regularly, as my focus and time and interests shifted elsewhere. I have popped in occasionally from time to time, as I know our members have big hearts and worry about old members who have vanished. 💗
I am happy to say I have kept my home relatively tidy and clean, and although I tend to be a piler and I most definitely need to clean before visitors and have low energy levels which make some bigger house cleaning tasks little difficult, I have been pretty pleased with where I am. Especially as I have been at the bottom before and so I have something to compare to. In other words, I am not perfect but oh so much better, and because of that, I know others can also become better!
I have demanding couple of months ahead of me as I am preparing to a cross country move. I am behind with ALL the preparations and need all the help I can get. I remembered this forum, and thought that reactivating myself here would probably bring me some much needed focus and help me keep taking daily steps forward. I plan to make to do lists and outline my plans daily or almost daily, as I have so much to do and I am so overwhelmed that I tend to get anxious and stuck easily. These are big life events after all and I am on a tight schedule!
I wish to get encouragement, kicking on the backside and forward driving, action oriented cheering and maybe even gentle pushing if I seem to get stuck or procrastinate. At this time and at this place on my journey I do not really need "coddling" or gentle understanding of my inaction or procrastination or even my health related problems (as I know sometimes people do need gentle understanding, and I know members here are gentle souls who sometimes become anxious with too much pushing), I wish you guys would help keep me accountable and reaching my goals, one step at the time. Thank you in advance!
I hope to get myself familiar with the forums and threads again, but it can take a bit time. I dusted off my old blog, and I plan on using that as my Master Planner, as I like to keep my progress corralled in one central place.
Looking forward to be part of the community again, getting to know new members and hearing how old members have been doing! And looking forward the new phase in my life!

Thank you seashell! I have a good feeling this forum is just what the doctor ordered to me right now! joyinvirginia - Thank you, and great to see you again! I have been doing lot of decluttering already, did a huge one a year ago, when my dog died! Plus I am doing a smaller scale decluttering all the time. My new home will me smaller than my current one is, and I have already decided several pieces of furniture that I am going to be selling or donating (but haven't actually done anything to advance that yet). I feel like that part of the moving process is at pretty good place, but culling my stuff even more is always a good idea. I try to think that do I want to pay for moving this or that particular item, and very often the answer is "no"! It's everything else that is in the beginning stages, ha ha! But you are so, so right, doing something every day is the key! I am sure updating my plans and progress (and challenges) here will help me tons!

Welcome back! I too came back to the forum after an absence to prepare for a move out of state. The people and support were beyond measure. Besides working on stuff daily - the biggest help was "getting it out" which I know is a challenge right now with various places being closed and/or being picky with donations. If you can, empty one space first - an extra bedroom if you have it and depending on what works for you - that is either the "not taking room" or the "already packed and ready to go" room. If you are having professional movers and you can afford it - letting them pack up glassware was so helpful. I did that for both my move and my mother's move a couple years ago when she downsized. That way you can just stack the glassware in certain cupboards or certain shelves and just wait until the move on that portion. Also, keep small boxes - like shoebox size are great for wrapping and sticking stuff like knick knacks in bigger boxes - adds an extra layer of protection. And, while you aren't supposed to send anything liquid I wrapped up all my salad dressings, oils, vinegars, etc. into those small boxes and then put in a bigger box. Good luck - you can do it! PC

phoenixcat - Great to see you! I quickly glance the first page of this introductions subforum and saw many returning members having posted lately, yahoo! Terrific that there are other long distance movers here! Although moving is one of those things that it's not SO much less work with short distance than it is with long distance! I will get professionals movers, thanks for the glass ware tips! I have been proactive with boxes, both small and bigger, as I have known some years already that sooner or later I will be moving, so I have been saving sturdy boxes. It's great idea to use the small ones inside the big ones! I have been trying to eat my freezer and pantry empty, I will try to move as little food items as possible. I have nightmares or oil bottle bursting and getting all over my furniture, ha ha!
