Yes, jenonmyown!! Putting *like* things together (health items together; work items together, etc.) is an **EXCELLENT** idea!! Even if all that you can do is to put them together in a tote or a box right now, do that!! Later, you can decide on shelves, drawers, etc. for them.
You are on your way to a healthier living space!

Hi Jen, everyone has given you some excellent advice. When I first found SOOS, I tried all of the boards to see what worked for me the best. I drop in to listzilla and the squalor board every once in a while, but I've found that having my own blog has helped me the most. Best of all, you can use it however you see fit and it's got that added layer of privacy so only members can see it.
As far as where to start in your home, I agree with everyone to work on the area that your boss' husband will need to be. Separating things out into category is a good idea too. Also, breaking things down into other categories (dispose of, donate, and keep) can help too.
I know it sounds counter-productive, but spend time digging deep into the threads here. There is a treasure trove of knowledge. And, don't hesitate to ask questions.

jenonmyown - I'm sending you some big hugs. I'm so sorry about the losses you have endured. I have also experienced that cycle of depression and squalor and I know how they reinforce each other. I'm so glad you found us! Welcome!

Ya'll are so sweet, so encouraging. I appreciate all the feedback. Well.... at least the dishes are done! Trying to take one step at a time and not let myself get defeated! Thanks for the tips on the technology of the site... sheesh, I'm on the computer 12+ hours a day for work... you'd think I'd figure it out.

Hello jenonmyown and Welcome, you are not alone!! I just want to encourage you that you can improve your home every day...It takes baby steps. I think you can open a whole new chapter of your life, one that is a lot less isolated. I have much to do myself...we can support each other.

Hi jenonmyown and welcome! I'm relatively new here and have found lots of support, encouragement and community here. I'm so sorry to hear about your many losses - that's a lot of heartache. I also want to let you know that you are not alone in the "lack of showering" department. I have completely lost my hygiene routine over the past year. In fact, I am going to push myself into the shower right now because it's been way too long since I've showered and washed my hair (true confessions - over a week!). I have a zoom meeting tomorrow morning and it's essential that I clean up! I looked terrible during the last few meetings. Take care of yourself and good luck with your journey.
