Hi, razy . The book is more instructive and helpful (about hoarding and how to address it) than enjoyable. I'm in it to understand and change. (Several people on this forum have been reading and discussing on some threads.) Put away the rest of the travel things. Read another Buried in Treasures chapter. Ran Roomba in the kitchen.

It took hours to go through my mother's bills, etc., so I'm going to count that To Do as several Ta Das and go to bed.

missjeanMany thanks, goldenthreads, for your kind thoughts. My closet is more organized than it has ever been in my entire life. The laundry area in the basement shows progress. Overall, however, perhaps it's too early to see more substantial opening up of spaces, particularly in what I call the common areas. I will focus on those today.

It's the last day of July, and I had joined the July Challenge thread mid-month. Honestly, I joined, made some goals, and then promptly forgot about them. Something reminded me a few days ago, and I was pleased that I had completed 1 of the 4 goals, and 2 of the remaining were totally doable. There is one goal that I totally fell off the wagon on, so that one will be pushed into August.
ta-da's: Responded to an email Reviewed July's goals ?
to-do: Prepare and eat breakfast Laundry, Dishes? Declutter one shelf or cabinet in the kitchen
later: finish a section of the quilt

It's the last day of July, and I had joined the July Challenge thread mid-month. Honestly, I joined, made some goals, and then promptly forgot about them. Morning, Ally! You are not alone in the Goal-Setting-Goal-Forgetting phenomenon. Ta da: Got up (again) To do: morning meds scoop at least 1 (ideally all 3) litter boxes start with my "gateway" chore: vacuuming (area to be vacuumed yet to be decided) Odd item du jour: I spend probably too much time making sure that my posts (here and, for instance, on twitter) are grammatically correct and have no spelling or other errors. Initially I spelled "vacuuming" incorrectly, so I copied and pasted into a browser to obtain the correct spelling. Up come several odd questions that I feel compelled to share with you (apologies for not providing source citations): Is vacuuming a real word? Cleaning something with a vacuum cleaner is often referred to as vacuuming, so vacuum can also be used a verb—at least in the U.S. Brits often refer to this device as a “hoover” and to the activity as “hoovering.” Comment: Okay, I guess there are "fake words" but this seemed like such an odd question. What does vacuuming your stomach do? The stomach vacuum exercises are great way to increase your core strength. Exercises like this are better for activating deep abdominal muscles and spinal stabilizing muscles. According to Research, It is also helpful in strengthening obliques and deep core muscles. Comment: I've never heard of this. Thankfully I don't watch "normal" tv and, clearly, missed the infomercials about the above. Then the list of questions devolve into entirely disconnected lines of inquiry, often, for reasons unknown, about bras: Should you wear a bra to bed? (Well this sounds awful; I hate bras and only wear them in public or if someone other than DH is in my house.) Here's my favorite question: What country does not wear bras? In Iceland during Free the Nipple day in 2015, some female university students purposefully wore clothing that revealed they were not wearing a bra and a few others chose to go topless for the day. Here's a question that made me angry: Can you get fired for not wearing a bra? Under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, it is illegal for an employer to discriminate against any individual under the protected category of sex. “A dress code could require women to wear bras in theory, but only if it was equally expensive or burdensome for men to do so,” Scafidi said. And I shall return back to vacuum questions: What does bare floor mean on a vacuum? "Bare Floor" mode is the ability to shut off the roller brush while still suctioning... Comment: Who wouldn't know that "bare floor" on a vacuum is the setting for vacuuming a bare floor. But, hey, I wouldn't have been able to further explain the roller brush shut off aspect.

ClimbingPyramids...A few days ago I wrote a post in another thread and then realized it was a grammatical nightmare. I ended up re-writing it 3 times, and then still felt that it wasn't right, but I couldn't figure out how to fix it. My brain just isn't as sharp as it used to be, although I'm more of a math/science person than a grammar/spelling person. I couldn't spell vacuum correctly to save my life. About the bras. I wear one nearly 24X7. When I find a comfortable one, I usually buy several. I like my girls to be well supported! (I'm an odd size, so it can be hard to find one that fits well.) My mom is 92 years old, and doesn't wear them any more. I think she can't get them on and off by herself, so she gave them up. ta-da's: Made and ate breakfast Loaded the dishwasher and ran it through a rinse cycle. It seems to help stuff get clean if I squirt a little Dawn in the washer and run a rinse cycle before I run it through the regular cycle. Did a bit of tidying up. Throwing several scraps of paper, and old bags in the trash. to-do: tidy up kitchen a little more, tidy up bedroom work on quilt project

To do: Finish morning meds Organize meds for the week Put on shoes to get in working mode

Dear @ally,
Thank you for your lovely, supportive response!
Thank you, as well, for sharing your and your mother's experiences. It brings back a bittersweet memory of me spending hours searching online for bras for my then 90-91 year old mom as she had the same situation of being challenged to put on and take of hers.
I miss her and would be happy to spend many more hours in search of the ideal nonagenarian bra.
(Note: just had to confirm I spelled nonagenarian correctly. And you, my friend, spelled vacuum perfectly!)

ClimbingPyramids said TaDa Up (again) Yea, that. About that. With depression, it's a significant accomplishment. This morning, reared the proverbial ugly head. But I had to pull it together shower and venture into the land of the alive and kicking. Up Coffee Shower Dress chiropractor Wanted a donut, but out of cash and the ATM is still down this morning. She has a $5 minimum for debit credit. If I buy more donuts, as it is just me, I shall eat them. And, I don't want a breakfast croissant. Oh. Well. I need to research if my town has another my bank ATM for next time the ATM is down. Home Sitting 2 glowy things going Interesting observations on the Google questions auto completion. Ally, I tend to edit my posts too. Probably silly. To spend the time, I mean. I don't think anything when others' posts aren't perfect. So. Write a list? A liztzilla? Just start? Or sit and veg. Kitchen? Hmm. Fridge clean out is one of my July challenges. It's the 31st. Not like its now or never. It'll still be there if I don't. Until I do. Then it won't. Until next time it needs it. Doing it would be good on several levels. 1. Job satisfaction 2. Sense of accomplishment 3. Easier to put away groc 4. Facilitates meal prep, which nourishes me ToDo Kitchen et al

It took hours to go through my mother's bills, etc., so I'm going to count that To Do as several Ta Das and go to bed. I saw on your previous post that you were going to go through those papers and deal with the bills, and I just gulped. She is lucky to have you doing this for her. Kudos and commiseration to you. Good morning, Ally and ClimbingPyramids! Well, it's taken my whole life to learn that everyone is a bit weird in their own way, and now I've found two people who are a little weird the same way I am! My particular version of getting my posts right is that I review before posting, then I post, and then I look it over again. Usually when I do this final edit it's to correct spacing! Meanwhile, my living space needs a major rewriting. I also posted in the July Challenge but have done little. I'm going to switch to very small projects in future challenges. Eat breakfast. Get dressed. Go get the rented SUV so I can do tomorrow's storage change.

mouseanne, Thank you. I often feel so alone in my depression and anxiety. People around me appear to be so highly functioning and energized. Or, if not, they just "get on with it" as they say in the UK. In other news, I still haven't put my shoes on. Doing so now.
