a snowy Friday in my part of the planet! cando I agree with Diane, you constantly show strength in dealing with your mom's care, your demanding job/tough, unpredictable boss, and then regular life! you need a vacation! thank Diane, TwinkleToes and cando for your kind words re not getting the job. it is kind of weird, to be a candidate for so much money and then to be rejected, it is like I added some rejection to my life. I think ageism is going to be a factor for me, I may need to put in cover letter single mom with a freshman in college (just kidding) so they know I will be working for awhile! This job would have been huge so maybe it would have been chaos times ten, Diane. I just was lost in the idea of having money to pay down debt, replace some leaky windows, get DD a car for her summer job, and upgrade my eyesore of a kitchen, replace some wall to wall carpet that girlcat and puppy have jointly destroyed ... ok Ill stop whining now! just had two Chaos meetings today. Chaos is good at meetings, an extrovert, loves to be the center of attention. I tend to fall quiet and drift off as the meeting goes on but she never does. I think that is why we meet so much, she just loves it whether it is the best way or not. I was up early today at 4 -- puppy work me up and i had my alarm set at 5 because I had to get DD to her job at 6 am. when I came back, I played out back with puppy in the dark in the snow, she was so happy. I had some coffee and watched a video, took her to daycare -- once again so cute, I say the word and she prances so happily then I took a quick shower and did my chaos meetings usually on lunch on Fridays I clean the house, but today as I need to pick up DD from work, I will go do a quick grocery shop near her workplace. I do want to continue to reclaim my dining room table. still have some Christmas stuff out, a few straggler presents not yet wrapped or delivered, my mail, my bills, my work computer and notebook.. so it is quite a chaotic mess. each day I make progress that I can see but anyone else would not. I weighed myself again! no progress but I am eating more mindfully and I am not just grazing away. But I did drink a glass of orange juice yikes. I love it but a massive sugar intake, still progress each day and I will continue.

did a few housekeeping chores -- put clean dishes away, washed stragglers. cleaned litter. did some dining room table pick up so I shredded and recycled papers. put away some Christmas stuff.
now I will use my remaining lunch hour to grab a few items from the store (essentials! dog and cat food needed) and pick up DD from work.
will first shovel sidewalk.

Hi. There are about 20 minutes remaining in this chapter of the audiobook I'm listening to, so I'm dropping this note and I'm gonna stay on task for most of those minutes. I think. I can do this. Wait, let me see how long the next chapter is. Okay they're all between 19-21 minutes. Hmm. I'm trying to work out a custom system here. Ugh. See you in a bit.

Okay, looks like I've got something resembling a plan. One interval of work -- done. Five minute break, woohoo!

I took the dog out and had lunch, and the bookcase I ordered was delivered, to the bottom of my front porch. So, I had to drag the box upstairs and into the house, one slow step at a time, it's very heavy.
I also finished preparing the packing paper that I'm keeping for book packing, that means cutting it into lengths and then ironing the paper to make it flat enough for packing. This saves me having to buy padded enveloped to mail books in, back in my old neighborhood I used to ask for paper bags at the grocery store and I would cut them open and use the brown paper, but where I shop now they don't have paper bags. I did recycle a big pile of excess paper instead of keeping it "for later", since I continually have boxes delivered so there will be more paper in the future.
I got an email from Monarch Watch with links to information about their research, so I spent quite a lot of time reading that--they agree that weather in the midwest was the reason for the low population here last year, so I assume that extends to other pollinators as well. That's good news, it means it might be better this year if the weather is more average. So far it's not average, but we're not into spring yet so I hope it will not vary too much from usual. I specifically remember a very cold snap last spring that came late and lasted a while, so I think that was the problem.
The downstairs is looking a lot better than it did a few days ago, I'll keep working on it.

Hello prudence--very good idea to listen to audio books while working!
Bree, I envy you your snow, it's time we had a little more here---but not until I get my next shopping walk done!

I have a 21st birthday party to go to tomorrow and I need a gift. I have been polling people for ideas. Over lunch I ran to the dollar store and grabbed a plastic basket, two stemless wine glasses that say "party" or something on them, eye and lip masks, tylenol, a glittery photo frame, and a bag of snacks that says "party mix". I am going to get a bottle of bubbly and something nice to tuck in with the other stuff. A nice bracelet or necklace or gift card or something.
We have monday off. I must make a plan for that day and stick to the plan. My mind starts jumping ahead and I start thinking of how I want to decorate a room or rearrange furniture in a room. I need to keep focused FIRST on how I want to EMPTY that room. I look around a room (any room) and I realize at least half the stuff in the room must go. So in theory - I should pick up two items at a time. One goes and one stays. It is not as easy as it seems - and I am not sure why. Except that I am making it harder than it is.
OK - time to wrap up things at my desk before I head ot the door. I am one of two people here and it is very distractingly quiet.

hi prudenceDiane - the snow is beautiful, like living in a snow globe at the moment. I don't mind it since today I don't have to do a puppy walk as she'll be tired from daycare -- I like the snow but don't want to take a tumble. Puppy loves loves loves snow and gets super energetic and nose dives into snow mounds with great glee. So I picked up DD from work but first bought the cat and dog food! I did shovel the walk first, the snow is very heavy. Just had a call with Chaos who called our work "awful"! for one project. the project contact is someone that she does not like and always criticizes so I was not surprised that she was so harsh when I remembered that she has actively worked against this person for years. now I need to settle and focus on work projects until quitting time!

I ended up staying in the basement for half an hour, the cabinet is completely taken apart. I didn't put the tools away yet, and of course, the cabinet pieces will be there for a while because I can only put a few chunks at a time in the garbage can, but they're stacked by the basement door, I already have some pieces in the can for next week's pickup.
I'll do one more list before dinner.
