I do love that Flylady talks about using an old shampoo or a hand soap you don't like to swish out your toilet bowl...Yes I have done this and it is helpful to put a bottle of this near the toilet brush . If you swish it everyday like she advocates, you really don't need a strong cleaner.

I have an interesting one: spare car floor mats I found in the front closet! They were the cheap set that came with the car and were so warped and ratty that I had to check if they came from my previous car. They took up prime real estate for 10 years - just in case floor mats became unobtainable. ;

Maybe I shouldn't even mention this, but I read that you should keep a spare set of floor mats in the trunk for emergency stuck-in-mud-or-snow situations.

More helpful is kitty litter (snow) or a tow truck (slid over edge of road into farmer's field in the midst of rainy season). I finished one partial container of glass cleaner. Have another mostly-empty, a mostly-full, and a specialty car formula!

WTG, missjean! It hurts to throw out perfectly good products, but if it's not good for you, it's not good for you!
I broke open the freebie dishwasher detergent packet last night. It's pods, which I should have expected. They sort of gross me out, the texture, I guess, and my curmudgeonly resistance to change. I think there two of them in there, didn't dump it out to count, just pulled the top one out. So probably one more day and I can throw that packet away.
I don't know why it's been so hard to use the free samples that came with the machine. I guess I'm a creature of habit, have my way of doing things. But it'll be good to be rid of them.

When I was new to this site, I used a thread called the pantry challenge. I would find things in my fridge/pantry, and find a way to combine them into a meal, or, if I knew it was in there for a long time, and couldn't figure out a way to use it, out it went! I have a jar of roasted red peppers on my kitchen counter and a half used jar in my fridge, It's not something I normally use or buy, but I think there was a recipe that called for it. (I can't remember what it was.) I'm going to google recipes and at least use the jar from the fridge, if it still looks/smells good. Thanks for the challenge missjeanETA: I found a recipe, and then went and checked the jar of peppers in the fridge. I realized quickly that they were not good, so out they went. I still have a large jar of peppers on the kitchen counter. Maybe I'll use it now since I found a recipe.

I used a mini body wash for a shower, then finished it off by using it as hand soap. It's out of here.

I don't know if 'giving it away' counts, but I had accumulated a lot of hand dishwashing soap, put them all in one place, shook my head, and donated a number of them.

Thank you both goldenthreads and missjean!
Today, I used a nail polish that I had liked; it was similar in color to a French Manicure but a just little more opaque. Within minutes it stuck into my hair (don't ask!), skinned back, and cracked. It has entered the TooOldToDry Zone. Into the circular file!

I added water to an old cleaning mixture and used it on the icky bathroom fixtures. It worked like a charm. Not quite used up yet, but on its way. Also used up restaurant packets of salt, pepper, etc. in a recipe.
Also used a bottle of bluing to whiten sheets.
On a related note: I had a lot of guests and used pillowcases I was "saving," including a pair with needlepoint by my great-aunt. They're at least 50 years old!

I came across three packets containing lotion-filled disposable booties. A gift from a friend? Free with purchase? I don't remember. I'm using one now. If it beautifies my feet, I'll mark the others on my calendar. If not, 🗑!

Tonight I cleaned the bathtub just to finish off some cleaner. The tub did need it, though.

I used up motel shampoo and hair conditioner. Also took the almost empty hand sanitizer and wiped some surfaces with it. I do have one more almost empty hand sanitizer bottle.
