It's November already! Where did the year go? The weather is starting to get cold for a lot of us--are your winter clothes ready? Your snow shovels? Do you have a stock of hot chocolate?
The challenge is to get some projects done by November 30th--that's one full month!
The rules are up to you--psychologists say goals are more achievable if they're measurable and specific. BUT--if specific goals scare you, make them open-ended--anything that will help you get something done.
And remember, our goals can be guideposts--we don't have to finish everything perfectly, we just need to try our best!
Then post and let everyone know how it's going.

Yes, Diane, the snow shovels are ready and so are the clothes, and even the hot chocolate is on the shelf !! I guess the challenges are to empty and clean and reorganize my den bookcase and to try to get around to doing the Roomba set-up. Do more weeding. Look into getting my rocker repaired. Hoping I can get some of this done. I did poorly in October with the challenge, although I did a lot otherwise. catcats

No shovels where I live but will make sure the one at my parents' house is accessible. My winter clothes are one drawer of sweaters/sweatshirts . And, hot chocolate is usually spiked November has some travel at the end of the month but I do have four weeks to "do something". For November: 1) Eat at home and plan my meals. 2) Figure out some online pilates and yoga classes. 3) Finish the ordering for my next trip. 4) First week - finish what I'm doing at my parents' home - cleaning, de-cluttering and shipping out boxes to my home. 5) Work on the outside, the garage storage room and the outside storage closet. 6) Take out a lot of donations. And, see if I can get someone to pick up furniture. But will probably spend most of the time watching re-runs and holding cats.

The very gusty Northern wind punctuates the arrival of November. I will continue to do my daily reset so I can get to decluttering everyday. Right now, I'm working in my bedroom to which I have to shift around to get this accomplished and to also be able to sleep in there. A little tricky! I will be making my usual Thanksgiving feast, ahead of time...So that I may deliver some of it to my brother early Thanksgiving Day and be back to eat by noon. I will start buying and collecting ingredients for this even the next time I go to the grocery store.(Don't forget the stuff for the soup) I will need to have the refrigerator where I can see in there so I will start working on getting rid of extra condiments. I hope to make great strides daily!

Hello catcats, phoenix and def, glad to see you back again! And welcome christy!
I see there are other hot chocolate lovers here.
I'm going to post my goals tomorrow, and I'm afraid there are a lot of them, all the ones from last month plus some new ones. Hopefully November will not be as distracting as October was.

I started purging the household files. I even looked in all the various drawers and assembled all the empty file folders to have them handy. I suspect this time might have been better spent in buying a flamethrower, however, I will go on as I started.
I also donated some stuff.

I forgot to add that I need to gather used plant pots and put them into the shed and also to take the cat pans outside and clean them well with the hose. And "button up " the hose and spigot stuff outside for the winter.

Hello dusty!
I finally have my list, which is mostly leftover stuff plus a few smaller things that I keep looking at and saying they need to get done, maybe I'll actually remember to do them if they're on my challenge list.
Oh, and I remembered the 4th plant that I repotted last month, a Crassula ovata tri-color, which is a jade plant, but one that has white streaks on the leaves. Another plant that has been in a very small pot since I got it a long time ago.

November goals:
1--Bring every room/work area in house back to baseline once per day 2--Christmas card prep -- goal of 1 hour
3--Old paper -- goal of 30 minutes 4--Book data entry -- goal of 30 minutes 5--Repotting houseplants -- goal of 4 6--Filing -- 30 minutes
7--Password project -- goal of 60 minutes 8--Reorganize enclosed back porch 9--Figure out better pet supply storage on first floor 10--Organizing in basement 11--Reorganize drawer with important stuff
12--Front porch planter
13--Work on 2nd book box - goal of 3 books
I added an extra 30 minutes to the password project because it's getting really urgent, my password file is a mess and there have been a few things that happened this past month where I really needed them to be in order. I added back the basement because I've been accumulating too many boxes plus I've put a few things down there randomly while my leg has been hurting. I added the small drawer in the kitchen where I keep my credit cards, gift cards, medical cards, etc., it eventually gets messed up and needs reorganzing.
The front porch planter goal is to take the few perennials that I grew from seed that I never got into the ground and put them in their current or larger pots, and put them in a large planter with the pots surrounded by insulation. I will keep them on the cold enclosed front porch and hope they survive until spring, it's basically an experiment, I kind of think it won't work but it's worth trying.
And that second book box that I worked on is still bugging me--I have 11 books from that box that I need to try out to see if I want to read/keep/let go, if I can get 3 done from that box I will be happy. I still have library books to read but that pile is decreasing.

November seems like an open book with many blank pages of possibilities. I don't have specific goals, other than getting a lot done in the coming almost 30 days, in any way I can. That's actually a big challenge.

Today is Saturday, Nov 4. Almost 4 full weeks remaining. I just drew up a large calendar for the month, complete with tracking down an array of stickers - gold stars, colorful shining hearts, etc. This is how I know I'm serious I plan to get as much done as possible in Nov. I don't plan to list what i do each day on the calendar, but rather I get a pretty sticker for... whatever I want. My goal is to do something each day, no matter how small - like getting up. So, Saturday, here we go. The time change awaits.

Hello betsymarie! I hope your stickers motivate you!
I keep thinking of things I should have put on the list, but I haven't done anything for the list I already have, so I will refrain from adding to it. The most important thing I can do first is get back to baseline, because that really encourages me to do more. Things really went backwards when I had so much trouble walking.

desposito , I don't know that the stickers motivate me per se, but like a kid, I love their shiny look on the calendar. Since Motivation follows Action, maybe just the act of using them on the calendar is something. or something, Right now I have strong motivation for the work. A difference this time is there is no event on the horizon - no one coming over, no inspection, no deadline, etc. I'm doing it because I want to. In the past I was always up against a wall of some event, which created some level of angst, day by day. Another difference this time is that, at the moment, I don't make lists other than general mental ones to create a better sequence of tasks. I can only do one thing at a time anyway. I do like to keep my eyes on a goal of some sort (now it's the dining room) if something crosses my path that helps in my main goal (the house in general) I'll do it. No physical list, just keep going and seeing progress one thing at a time. I didnt think of it before, but I feel so much less angst without having a specific to do list which just reminds me of how much there is to do - that's what it's for! For me, this tends to lead to 'overwhelm' too easily. Even if this involves some slight of hand (denial?), as long as this is working, I'll stick with it. Counting today, 26 more days in November.
