Danny15---thank you for feeding the poor fox. It is so cold out.
I am nervous about the pipes in the house tonight. It is already down to 17 degrees. And both of my trash cans are full and I can't chance the icy driveway, etc. to take even one of them out. I brought up another can from the basement which I was using for storage to use this week. Then it will become an additional recycling can.
I did the dailies and some laundry today, but not much else.
My best to all for good health and and safety in this weather for many.

Middle of the nightâŠcanât sleep Pretty cold here but I guess warmer than the southern US! The last few days have been very sports oriented. Big football fan. Also ended up at an NHL game in person! Very cold walks w puppy. It was 16 degrees tonight -my face hurt -puppy was delighted to nose dive into the snow ( mylittlescholar that dvd is like puppy) Worked today. Intense day. Three important projects need TLC we did takeout for dinner. Walked puppy in cold dark. Did dishes. Went to target and grocery store Filled gas tank Just let puppy out at 1:21 am. Ugh. I should be asleep I think she just wants out for fun! danny15 feeding boycat properly has never stopped him from hunting!!! Or girlcat in her younger days. I think Your friend can adequately feed those cats and they will hunt- it is their God given nature

Good morning everyone!
TT, I'm glad you got a break from the guests!
Catcats, I hope your pipes are alright.
They have moderated the forecast going forward a little bit, earlier they were saying we'd have some 10 degree days this week, now the coldest high is 15 before we start warming up on Sunday. Next week shows 40s and rain! I know I still have to be wary of the pipes but I feel like I've gotten through the worst days. My neck hurts so much today, and I know it's all from tension.
I went to the library this morning, I took my cart and was able to walk in the street which was totally cleared of snow and ice, there's not much traffic on these side streets so it was fine. There was actually another patron in the library today, usually I'm the only one when I get there right when the open. I returned 6 books, all but one of which I had read, and took out the 4 that were waiting for me.
Now I am waiting for the dog to want her first yard visit and then I will start on some lists, I feel like I can focus better today.

Moving very slowly today, using lots of pain relief cream on my back. It never seems to help but I keep slathering it on. I'm using the timer and bumped it from 5 minutes to 7. Fed the birds on deck. Fox had his dinner last night ~ 10 day-old chicken heated to entice him with the scent, topped with 6 month-old dog kibble. Haven't seen any deer at all, they must be hunkered down with the snow.
I am trying to do little things today. We usually store extra water in the garage with the levels taken down to allow for freezing. DD1 brought 6 gallons inside last night and this morning I stacked it in 2 crates in the breakfast room. Not drinking water ~ this will be used for the toilets in case we lose electricity. No electricity = no well pump = no water.
Last night temps went down to -8, VERY grateful our pipes are ok! Diane, I hear you about the worrying. I don't know how people and their farm animals and their water needs make it when their temps are consistently below zero for long periods. We are expecting more snow on Friday but by next Friday, the 26th, temps are projected to be back up to 58. Crazy.

it is 18 degrees outside. Good thing I am working from home!
Last night was a partial bust. I received a message that a dear friend passed away. She must have been in her 90's. SHe and her late husband were part of a core group of people in the church I attended while in high school. This was such a close group and us kids were close as well. It kinda threw me for a loop. there are five people left from the "adult" group, two of which are my parents. And about 6 or so of us left from the kid group. two of us are left from the super close kids group. I just reached out to two of the girls and we are planning to get together for dinner.
Last night was also a miserable drive home from work. My half hour drive took over an hour. Side streets were so slippery. I am so happy things got cancelled last night as it was not safe.
I ate my leftover pizza for dinner and had some of my leftover fruit. This got the big pizza box out of the fridge. I started to attack a pile at the foot of the bed and outside my closet. I found pieces to outfits that I put in a box with other pieces missing pieces. I found more clothes that I needed to lose weight to get into. they fit. I might iron them and wear them one more time then donate them. I found a paper bag full of papers to recycle. I moved that into the hallway so that I could continue filling it. I didnt get a huge amount removed - but I strove to either put away or put in donate everything that I touched. Pick up Put away
Once I get the bed moved it will make it easier to get things in their rightful place. And once I get some shelves here I can organize better. I am such a visual person.
I had better get back to work....

Good afternoon danny and ohblondie!
I decided to feed the dog her next meal a little early, and after about 10 minutes or so she was ready to go out. It definitely feels warmer than the last 3 days but not comfortable to be out more than a few minutes. I put unfrozen water out for the birds.

I gathered a lot of paper bags, folded them and put them in one container bag. We use those for trash. Got some laundry together. Took 2 small ice coolers from the top of the laundry cabinets to the garage. I will clean those and donate in the spring.
Checked food I need to use for dinner tonight. Having a cheese stick for lunch. Made a few bottles of Liquid I.V. hydration multiplier. Need to get a lot more water into my system. The vitamins and supplements are getting back into the routine and soon I have to add back in super greens (swamp water ) and chia seeds. I got away from the healthy stuff over the holidays. Three birthdays this month and the grandkids the first week of February mean we have not the best eating habits from Thanksgiving until almost mid-February.
DD1 called me to come upstairs and look out a back window at all the wildlife tracks in the snow ~ fox, deer (there they are!), rabbits.

wait, is it Sunday night? no. no, it's Tuesday. Hello.
I was gonna chill all evening, but then I thought since I've got some energy, I want to start practicing taking care of my needs first. That's been such a challenge.
but I did it! I got my paperwork organized enough to find the most urgent things and create a space to do my painting homework.
!~!~!
oops forgot to post! now it's Wednesday!

danny15 I am also in a big food period w three birthdays coming up, the playoff games gatherings, and some celebrations at work. I was telling myself just because food is here at work I donât need to eat it. There has been a cheesecake here for a week tomorrow. I have not had any for several days but it is really good and I need to avoid the late-in -day -hungry -tired moments. Plus it is getting old! I am today trying to start a severe carb cut back. I am really tired from being up a good chunk of the middle of the night. Also very cold. In a kinder gentler world, I could take a nap under blankets! Instead I sit w space heater and some really hard number crunching projects. Ugh ugh ugh. And it will be in the teens when I walk puppy tonight. Not looking forward to that cold dark walk. I was on time for work today and had freshly washed hair! A good start.

bree all that playoff food, YUM!! You are so good about walking your best girl in all kinds of weather. Yeah, she needs the exercise but I would be so tempted to just turn her loose in the backyard and call it good.
Rewound 3 spools of Christmas lights to make them more compact. Not necessary; part of my OCD, wanting things to look neater and fit in boxes better.
Made hot drinks ~ hot chocolate for DD1, India Spice Chai for me. Still chipping away at whatever catches my eye.

Mmm, hot chocolate--I will have some tonight.
I stopped for lunch and a movie break. A couple of hours after the dog went out this morning I was upstairs and heard her whining downstairs. She doesn't whine unless she wants to go out, so I gathered up some things I wanted to take downstairs and went down there--well, she had a BM in the living room, on her bed. She had gotten back up on the regular bed and looked guilty. Usually when she gets down from the bed for any reason the first thing she does is goes to check her bed in the living room because that's where I feed her now. So...either I didn't hear her right away when she was whining and she couldn't hold it, or else this is further evidence of spinal deterioration, beginning to have less bowel control.
I cleaned it up and went to reassure her and tell her how good she was. Then she relaxed and didn't look guilty anymore. I WANT her to go inside, but this was not her voluntarily going inside, I don't think she would choose to go on her bed if she had a choice, to me that says she couldn't hold it. Since she never needs to pee in between the morning trip and late afternoon at the earliest, this meant we avoided a trip outside, she is now sleeping again. So I will need to see what happens going forward.
I wish she would want to come upstairs with me like she used to--she can still come up if she goes up slowly, but she shows almost no interest in it, it's been a couple of weeks since she wanted to come up. That's why I'm up and down the stairs so many times, to check on her and spend time with her.
I've been trying to stop and consciously relax my neck and shoulders, and do some very mild stretches--my neck is so stiff I can only turn my head partway to each side. I know it will go away now that I'm feeling less tense about the weather.
