Happy Friday everyone.
I came in late as the inspection was at my parents house this am. I think it passed. I took advantage of the time there and loaded up some stuff for my DD. I dropped it off at her house on the way to work. The buyers were there and told me not to worry about cleaning or anything.
I have a hard deadline so I really need to stay focused and on task
But first - lunch. Priorities and all that!

I forgot to mention that I got a really good phishing email today, it looked legitimate--from the "Social Security Administration". Even the body of the letter looked very official, saying to click this link to look at my latest statement. Luckily I'm so wary now of everything that I hover over almost all addresses and I saw it had a wrong email address suffix. So I reported it to the usual government spam address plus the Social Security spam address. If you get messages from the SSA, be careful!

Diane, it's only been in the last year or so that I have seen the bluebirds. They are Eastern bluebirds. I got some mealworms for them from a wildlife bird store one time and they loved those. We have berry producing plants in the yard which naturally attract them in warmer months. They like bits of fruit too so sometimes I toss out older blueberries or cut up tiny apple pieces. Maybe because food is harder to come by now they are eating the seeds. Tiny pieces of cracked corn, millet, bits of shelled sunflower seeds. We keep different kinds of seed mixes that attract different types of birds and like with the fox, generally only feed a lot in bad weather when they may have a hard time finding enough food. We try to keep the larger seeds (like sunflower seeds in the shells, whole corn) in a separate area so the bigger birds (jays, cardinals, crows) don't mess with the tiny birds. We used to buy squirrel food but now I just toss out nuts that we haven't finished like peanuts and walnuts. They will eat the bird seed too. When we have heavily seeded bread and aren't going to finish it that gets tossed out too.
I always wanted to keep birds in the house but never could with all the cats and dogs. So we very much enjoy the wildlife birds!

This is a good day for the dreaded paperwork. Being able to look up out the window at the falling snow gives my eyes and spirit a break. I had to get a new prescription drug plan from Medicare last year and keep forgetting to take the info to my pharmacy. Next week....
catcats good catch on the dating site charge on your credit card! Diane, I got so many scam type things in email and on my phone over the holidays. I won't even click on links or downloads from family/friends or people here. I might try to go directly to the site but generally I ignore. It's almost funny to see the misspellings and grammatical errors. But it is scary when something looks or sounds official. Social Security and Medicare scams are tricky.
DD1 took up the mouse traps earlier this week. We haven't caught many this year but we didn't want to put them out in the snow. They get a snow reprieve for awhile.
She loves little detailed work and organizing so she is going thru shoe boxes that she has filled with bookmarks and holy cards. She enjoys matching bookmarks according to color or what is on them to books that have a similar color scheme on the covers or whatever the subject matter is. I don't always get it but she has her process and that's good for her.

I just got the most amazing email!!! The insurance company is going to replace my entire roof at their expense!!!!!!! My daughter has been handling the details. I will be hoping and praying that since it has now been approved no one needs to come inside to inspect for possible leaks in the attic. But I'd better get going on the upstairs in the next month to be safe. Pretty sure the roofer will not want to get started until after the worst of the winter now. What a HUGE, HUGE blessing for us!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh danny, that's wonderful news about your roof! That's a huge expense to have to handle on your own.
Yes, I'm even wary of emails that say they're from people I know. I don't open emails if the header is something I don't think the person would say, and I don't open links unless I'm positive the person is who they say they are.
I fed the dog and took her out, and put out unfrozen water for the birds. I also deleted more emails.
Now it's time for lunch.

Well DS's jeans are washed and dried Socks and underwear are in the wash - I will flip to dryer when I get home I will place a few of DS's belongings in the bin for his jeans - then place the jeans on top. Hopefully he will pick them up today. I found his heavy winter jacket last night. A weekend goal includes emptying out my car. UGH. how does it get so bad so fast. last night DH promised me a gas fireplace IF I get the LR and DR cleared out. this way we can host Christmas dinner among other celebrations. Once I retire it will be my FT job to get the house decluttered. Currently we have a wood stove insert but we need a new liner in the chimney before we can have another wood fire. It would be so much easier to have the gas fireplace installed as no one would need to schlepp out to get the wood and the wood is always wet and no one likes to clean out the fireplace. I need to enlist his help in clearing out.... In my parents house is my grandmothers marble top table. It was in her kitchen and she used it for baking and rolling out pie crusts and all kinds of baking. It was in the center of her kitchen, sink on one side and stove o the other. Sort of like a precursor to a kitchen island. That is coming to my house and I will put it in the guest room with a lamp on top. We are getting down to the nitty gritty remaining in their house. Enough rambling - creating a list like mylittlescholar MLS does to help her keep focused and on track.

Good afternoon oust!
I just spent way too long on my hylocereus plant--cutting the segments off, cutting the roots off from the segments, and avoiding getting stuck by the spines--they only have small spines along the edges but they are still spines that come off in your skin. Now they will sit for a few days to callus over and I'll try putting them in soil. I'm leaving the original plant still there, only now it has 5-6 short stems instead of super long ones.
Next:

I got a few things done this afternoon but not much--I got another call from my shopping friend even though she hasn't gotten any more information about her clothes, and then I got a call from my senior client, then the dog wanted to go out again.
It's starting to feel uncomfortably cold in here again--it should be just one more day of really cold weather and then it will start warming up on Sunday.
Good night everyone, see you tomorrow in the weekend thread.
