I'm taking the next small step beyond puttering/putting away in the kitchen. There aren't many places to *put away* anymore so I began throwing away and reorganizing a bit. Full disclosure here ~ some of the throw-aways were small plastic containers that had gotten so brittle they crumbled in my hand. If they could have been washed out and reused I probably would have. Anybody else save used butter/margarine containers for leftovers? For over 40 years? Not like I didn't have enough Tupperware......

I had a reading break after lunch, then I did a little PEEPing. I'm trying to declutter what I can each day but it still looks so messy in here with the water containers--tonight should be the last night I have to let one of the faucets run a little.
I also fed the dog but she didn't want to go out yet.

And yes, I used to keep margarine containers and every other kind of reuseable container, even though I probably had 50 extras. I'm not sure how many leftovers I thought I would have in the fridge all at the same time.

S l o w e r a n d s l o w e r Still puttering in kitchen. I wish I had known when I was younger what I know now........ Boy, I miss being able to knock out a bunch of housework in one day. This glacier pace and tending to pain is never ending.
Chatted with DD2 about roof. When I said I was happy it would be at their expense she reminded me that I have been paying into insurance so it really isn't their expense, it is mine. But, when I told her that my premiums when added up are nowhere near what the cost of the roof will be she agreed that, yeah, they will be paying out more. She said to expect the payments to go up. I got the bill for this year already and it didn't. Unless they add to it later.
For years now I have been paying the yearly amount at one time rather than monthly. A long time ago when I was trying to get out of debt, Arid gave me the very good advice to budget my money in such a way that I had enough set aside when big bills came due. Can't remember the details but I did what she suggested and it wasn't hard at all to get things under control fairly quickly. So maybe part of the reason the insurance company ok'd the entire replacement is because they think I am a good paying customer and this is my first big claim (my first claim at all). In any case, I am happy it wasn't a difficult process.

danny15 I got so cold I decided to take a nap for a while under lots of blankets. I just bought some gloves with no finger tips as my hands are cold. My pain Dr told me to get some pain cream. I have not had time to go to the pharmacy to get it yet. I just started all the faucets dripping. I hope I can keep getting stuff done this weekend. I was on a roll this morning before my warming up nap. The kitties are napping in their kitty bed it has one of those warmers that work when the cats are laying on it. So they are curled up and when i pet them feel warm. We are not freezing to death here it is just I am very much out of practice being cold - it is 22 degrees and says feels like 18 degree F outside. In the house it says it is 67 to 68 degrees. I need to get back to doing something. I think I will work on laundry a bit more and then see about dishes.

@ transformingmylife my kitties have beds like that. They love them and will sometimes lay together. They have the kitty caves too which seem to hold heat well. All three have thick undercoats too which help. I used to put coats on the little dogs (pugs) but they didn't like them. They preferred to curl up with the heavier coated dogs in big beds.
Why do you wear gloves with no fingertips? I never understood why people do that. I have seen gloves that have special tips on the pads for using with their iphones. I used to wear gloves to bed if I was really cold but always with closed fingers.
We keep our heat set at 68. I just got a bill today for filling the oil tank (only half way) and it was absurdly expensive. I was thinking of raising the heat but no, we will keep adding layers and tough it out.
We had pizza while watching football. I am so ready for bed now. One more cold day here then temps will climb. By Friday we might hit 60. And 6 days of rain but better than 6 days of snow for sure.
For everybody stuck in these frigid temps stay warm and I hope your pipes stay warm also.

OH goodness, everypony! wish I could send you actual warmth.
Diane I find ibuprofen and naproxen better than acetaminophen for muscle-relate aches. they have properties to actually relax the muscles.
danny15 I wear fingerless gloves (actually fuzzy socks that I cut up) every day (and night)! partly because I rest my wrist on my laptop, which is cold, but need fingers for typing. Partly because my arms are a bit longer than average, so sleeves don't go down long enough. I have the same problem with my legs, so wear leg warmers as well.
I have slid into my delayed sleep phase pattern, which sucks in the winter cause of less sunlight. I do still wake up early, and then go back to bed. Today I did the dishes I couldn't cope with last night. DVD has been doing them often, so it felt good to put my time in!
DONE: caffeinated checked in w/ DVD--he is working on a small metal sculpture updated log checked online balance updated white board checked calendar--DB is at DPs, so I want to visit tonight or tomorrow checked email updated challenges
NEXT UP: update calendar w/ trip

danny15 because I find it hard to work (maybe just habit) in gloves with finger tips. Just picking up stuff and working around the house also sometimes when dealing with putting up dishes and etc there is still a bit of water and i hate the fingertips wet. When I am washing dishes and dealing with major stuff i use gloves nonlatex waterproof. I have gloves of different colors for different purposes and rooms. My Dish gloves are green and etc. I wear the finger less gloves under the working gloves. I just keep them on as a second skin and with no finger tips i can do computer typing, touch screen, pick up stuff, work around the house. They are like long johns for my hands - keep them warm but like i said are pretty much just there like a second skin unless i am washing my hands/showering/etc then i take them off. I have space heaters in the house that I supplement in rooms that I and kitties are in that feel colder than 67 with the space heater on at 69 or 70 or so when I am up. I even have a space heater in the garage that I have not used yet but i may tomorrow as I just cant work out there even with a coat on right now. I solar powered my house so that I could turn down my oil heat to save money and use the electric heaters off the solar. I can’t say it helps much as I am shivering in long johns plus clothes and space heater trying to think of things to do besides going back to bed to lay down with blankets. I am thinking laundry with dryer, doing the dishes in dishwasher, and maybe making some cornbread in the oven. Except that I have already finished my dinner and if I make cornbread I will want a piece hot out of the oven especially as cold as it is. Tomorrow I want to make some stew which will be oven or slow cooker. At least it will start getting a bit warmer on Monday when I have to go back to work. Work is like an icebox anyway even when it is okay outside. I have a sweater that I keep there during the week so I can wear it to be warm.

I try and heat myself before i think about the house. I layer up and use Maine Warmers that i microwave for 3 minutes then they give off the heat. I also use hand warmers bought at Costco when i am out, Handwarmer in pants pockets are super nice during the day or even in back pockets and foot warmers too. They stick on top of a sock and give 5 hours of heat for cold feet. Imagine those in a pair of comfy slippers. We have 2 Electric throws that DH uses almost all day every day, we also have an Electric blanket that goes on every night. Our heat bill is very cheap because we won't have it over 62 degrees. We are too warm if
