Sounds like everybody is cold and I have been chilled too. Trying to clear steps and a patch of snow right in front of them and also unpacking the Chewy box on the front porch----Very Chilled.
I did do the dailies and a load of laundry. Wrote out a Mass card for someone dear to me. A nurse friend that I worked with and liked a lot for many years died yesterday and I found out this morning, so at first today, I had not great motivation for housekeeping. As the day wore on, I did start to do more. Wiped up the BR floor with bleach water. and cleaned sink. Unpacked boxes. Did some PUPA. Took clean blanket to the attic.
So very cold here and windy. I just came up from basement where I made a little running stream in the BR sink to help the pipes to stay unfrozen. I will be glad when the temps come up soon.
Carolyn and I decided tonight to stay home tomorrow from Mass. We would rather go, but neither of us has cleaned off the cars due to icy stuff around them and we are both afraid to walk in some patches that just won't melt .We can watch it online as our Church videos it and I think that will be safer for us. We are not spring chickens anymore.
I think I would like to cook something tomorrow, not just a meal, but a big pot of something to have and to freeze. I'll have to see what I have in the way of ingredients.
Wishing good things for all.

Hi catcat I am going to Church online today too . I want to get a few things in the oven today as that would also help warm up the house. I am up and ready to start the day - for some reason it does not feel as cold today at least not yet. I am going to keep going with laundry I need to move the laundry from the washer to the dryer and get another load started.

Good morning!
I had okay sleep last night, I was up for an hour in the middle of the night but then shut my alarm off without knowing I was doing it and slept longer in the morning. Yesterday afternoon I did take the Tylenol and it did help my neck pain (scholar, I don't even have Ibuprofen in the house after I ended up with stomach pains from taking too much during my dog walking years). I felt better yesterday even after it wore off, and it's better today--I think sometimes when I have both pain and tension, relieving the pain for a while also relieves the tension so it stops the loop of one causing the other and vice versa. And the worst cold is over, at least for now, so I should be more relaxed going forward.
I'm eating breakfast and then will do some work, I really need to make up for lost time today.

It's interesting reading how everyone stays warm. (haha I just had a big involuntary shiver and my fingers hit a bunch of keys as I was typing *how everyone*; when I hovered above to see if it would self-correct for the first time the pop-up thing said No suggestions. How about *freezing* ).
oust you sound like my New England relatives with the low heat setting. on holding the inside house temp at 62 and using other methods to stay warm. I'm pretty sure you were the one who mentioned Maine Warmers awhile ago (a couple years?) and I got some. They really are the best! I've bought the hand and foot warmers from Costco for others but never used them myself, don't know why.
TML and mylittlescholar I can see how fingerless gloves work for you. My fingers get so cold it would seem almost sad to warm my hands and leave my poor, little fingers in the open. I can hear them now crying out, "But wait, we need that warmth more than the hands do! Don't leave us out here in the cold! At least stick us in the armpits for a few minutes!!". Done, my little friends.
TML I like your idea of different colored gloves for different purposes and rooms. And the nonlatex, waterproof gloves over those. Space heaters always worried me a bit especially around the animals. Decades ago my next door neighbor's house burned to the ground a couple weeks before Christmas (from hot fireplace ashes their kid put in a cardboard box while cleaning ) so I am paranoid about fires. We are rural and on well water and the fire trucks neglected to bring water trucks. The road was jammed with cars because people were arriving for their Christmas party. It was a huge screw up and they lost everything. So, no fires for me, no space heaters, no candles. Just lots of clothes and blankets and flashlights.
There are so many more animal tracks in the snow right up to our house. Last night we tossed usable food ~ pasta, bread, cheese, a little meat, fruit, cookies, peanut butter crackers ~ out in the snow in the front, driveway side and back. I don't know what ate it but everything is gone. The below temps are over but nights will still be in the single digits.
The kitchen is messier than it was yesterday since I started pulling things out to make room for other things. But I was able to see more and put like with like, toss some stuff and have a (tiny) donation pile.

Good morning danny! I'm nervous with space heaters too, I have only used one when I'm right there with it, and only during the day. I've always been afraid of having a fire. In fact, fire extinguishers are on my list for my shopping trip with the handyman. I had one here but it was my sister's and was old and depleted, so I need a couple of new ones.

Sunday! I was feeling too tired and cold to go to church and TML and catcats thanks for the reminder about church online, I forgot about that option. So I did that. last night was the dinner with the challenging person in the group. it was challenging as feared. it was their birthday and they rejected all their gifts, asking how they could return, and in one case returned the gift to the giver saying why don't you keep since you like it so much. we all tried very hard with nice gifts. it made the dinner very awkward!! challenging person is very blunt (rude) as in "I'd never pick that color" "that does not match' 'that is not my style'....ugh. glad it is over. I really needed to detox after! challenging person is sending sweetish texts today. I am just not responding. I still need some detox time. whenever I am with challenging person I am edgy and nervous as they can be very cruel too and say mean things heartless things....ugh. cutting off ties would be hard in the overall situation. I am just very guarded. it is sad because at heart i think challenge is a very wounded person. anyhoo! the sun is shining here. I last saw the sun late afternoon last Sunday! DD and I are headed out to one of her favorite restaurants for lunch. We planned to go while she was home for break and here it is her next to last day home. boo hoo. I have to get groceries later. walk puppy. i walked her yesterday in 15 degrees so today will seem so warm as it is mid twenties. some really good news: little bird reappeared!

bree yay, your little bird is back! You know it is cold when mid-twenties feels warm.
Wow, that challenging person's attitude towards the gifts she received is awful. She may find that, in the future, others cannot be bothered to try very much to pick out something nice for her. Or even to get together to celebrate her birthday. It is very kind of you to see her as a wounded person and make some allowances for that.
Enjoy your lunch with your beautiful DD! She sounds like such a lovely young woman. Spring break will be here before you know it!
Ok, I have pretty much decided that today I am not doing much of anything. I have been wandering from room to room, picking things up, putting them down. So I may as well call it a fun day and do whatever I want. Maybe a little work, maybe a little tv, read more here, definitely some computer games. Tuck in tonight with a good book and hit the ground running tomorrow.

bree Yay for the birdie coming back! oust the chicken sounds really good! danny15 I worried about space heaters too until I got the last ones which have safety features. I do keep mine in the bedroom on at night but the one out with the kitties I turn off. I worry more about them than me. They have their bed which is warm so they should be good and the house out there is not too cold. My bedroom is an icebox because i have a huge rug which blocks the vent and I need to hire someone to help me move it and all the furniture off it to move it. Also my windows have issues and the air tends to blow in. I really need to get my bedroom fixed around but I keep saying oh just wait a couple more weeks and i will have it fixed up enough that i can have people in without it all stacked up with goat highways right now (it was goat paths to goat trails to now goat highways - so getting better but still work to do). On a side note - all of my dishes are clean and except for the last ones going right now in the dish washer put up. Even all the new freezer containers I bought that i was cleaning/washing before putting them up. I am almost done with laundry too. I have two more loads to go and next on my list is get in more boxes - open - put up then shredding then cat box then a folding and putting up clothes marathon.

I got involved with working on my new filing cabinet, figuring out what I want in there and making file labels. Still not done. I also placed an Amazon order, I bought a microwave neck warmer thing. I did look at the Maine Warmer (?) website, I just love all the animal shaped pads! I wanted to try a cheaper one though since I don't know how much I'll use it.
Now it's time to feed the dog again and take her out.

You could be right oust, I have to keep reminding myself that I'm getting older every day, and aches and pains will only get worse as time goes on!
