This is the Working in Threes Thread (W.I.T.)
EVERYONE IS WELCOME, especially if you've never posted before!
The guidelines are simple:
- Do some little thing to make your house less squalorous. - Do one more little thing. - Do another little thing.
Once you have 3 things done, post them here.
- Post the next 3 things you plan on doing. - Go forth and conquer, return and post again.
Remember - if you are tired or sick or injured or depressed or overwhelmed, you are in the right place!
If the next 15 minutes consists of:
- Looked at hopeless living room and felt like crying - Decided you could take empty pop can to kitchen - Put away phone book - Picked up fast food wrappers on coffee table and put them in trash
. . . YOU HAVE ACHIEVED THREE - DOM !!!
You could post:
Ta - Da's - Took pop can to kitchen - Put away phone book - Threw away McDonald's wrappers
Then your To - Do's: - Bring plates and glasses to kitchen - Put dirty socks in hamper - Bring folded towels to linen closet and put away.
Whether you do those three to-do's, or something completely different, once you've gotten 3, come back and post.
Remember to take breaks and drink water. Drinking water counts as a Ta-da!
If you can notice what the person before you did, it might cheer them up to hear from you.
Go forth, have fun, and be generous to yourself with the Ta-das. YOU CERTAINLY HAVE EARNED THEM !

Good Morning,
I am on vacation for the last 2 weeks of DD's maternity leave. She is scheduled to return to work next week, so her "cubs" (aged 20 months and 6 weeks will be coming my way).
Yesterday I was at our beach house which I share with 2 neat freak sisters-in-law. We had a girl party with Ma and all her dementia. Yes, I'm stressed (they throw stuff out and I think the waste is sinful). . ., but my habits drive the sisters-in-law nuts. The sisters-in-laws treat my mother like Ruth of the Bible treated Naomi.
Tonight DH and I are leaving for a family reunion in Ohio. The reunion is DH's mom's side. After having been married 35 years, I find that the in-laws have morphed into real family. I love the reunions.
TADA: 1) Make fresh coffee 2) Pill 3) Transfer washing and run the dryer.
TODO: 1) Find the scattered paperwork, bills, mail, filing etc. 2) Locate the filing folder, letter opener, recycle bag etc. 3) Sort and file for 15 minutes.

hi Tiger; have a great time at the family reunion; sounds a lot more fun and relaxing than the beach cottage episode with neat-freak SILs! Hi Syzygy; great job getting right to it this morning, and celebrating with ta-das! Wantinmore, good morning; hope that first cuppa coffee is just right; WTG doing your regular exercise!
I'm getting the living room and kitchen back in shape. Inspection could be tomorrow, but I'm hoping for Mon. or Tue. instead. At any rate, we've had at least 4 of them this year so I'm not feeling like bending over backwards making the apt. spotless; just doing the minimum to not get evicted! Still, it makes ME happy when the place is orderly and relatively clean and there are chairs to sit on again and a table to eat at. (I eat on my bed, the floor, or standing up when the table is cluttered beyond using, as it has been for the last month or more.
ta das: bed made dressed drank a glass of water
to dos: drink another glass of water finish dishes from last night put away loose CDs in living room
and come back to WITs

ta das: did dishes put away some loose items on computer desk cleaned stove top, including burners
to dos: 1. start clearing art desk in living room; can't remember the last time I actually used this as anything but a catch-all; I may need to re-think the necessity of an art desk! 2. drink a second glass of water (not done that yet) 3. finish clearing computer desk

Good morning, everybody!
Madtiger, what creativechaos said. Go, syzygy, with your clean dishes! Congrats, wantinmore, on taking time to exercise. I should do that. I think I'll follow your lead this afternoon, creativechaos, and go through the dump that is my computer desk. Needs doing.

TO DO: -empty dishwasher -make bed (after removing cat) -fold/put away laundry

hi bluefrog; you got lots done already. Congrats on doing the laundry and going to the farmers market. It never seems to take as long as we think to do what we dread, does it? (like dishes, laundry, vac floors, etc.) I still have a lot of trouble getting into the swing of maintenance, but most things take 30 seconds to 15 minutes tops. nmf, thanks for the water reminder, and good for you doing laundry too
ta das: (inspection possibly tomorrow, so am extra motivated)
cleaned stove hood and stove top (burner pans and rings soaking) cleaned old food out of fridge 20 min. clearing art desk, incl. put stuff away where it goes. (Still more to do, but there's hope!)
put away loose CDs in liv. room drank 2nd glass of water made to-do lists for remaining stuff to do in apt. Still need to prioritize what to do first

'morning all.
Good luck with the potential inspection, creativechaos.
Madtiger, thanks for starting the thread. Enjoy the last few days of your "vacation"-- glad you and your sisters-in-law were able to take your Mom to the Cape. There may come a time when she is uncomfortable with traveling, so I am glad you all had a chance to enjoy some time together this summer.
Syzygy, wantinmore, bluefrog, nmf. WTG on your TADAs. Everyone is doing well with their cat hygiene, kitchen clean-up work and projects, laundry, etc. WTG! Coffee counts as a TADA in my book, Syzygy!
TADAs: 1. Up, meds, breakfast 2. Put dishes in dishwasher/swish and swipe part of countertops and stove surface 3. Picked up stray shoes and sandals and brought them to shoe/sandal area
TODOs: 1. Laundry 2. Banking 3. Recycling
Have a good day, everyone!
