Great job on side table, BetsyMarie. I just spent 15 minutes in DD's room. *10 papers into recycle bag *she had a big empty white trash bag in there, so I put a little trash in it & emptied her trash can (not much in there) ... several zip bags went in the trash. *made her bed *got DH to fix her clock, since I just found the parts... Almost forgot the following: Somethings that I don't know what to do with: a note pad, a book, a note. So, just moved them from where they were behind her closet door on the floor in her room & put them where she had some other stuff. Just shifting stuff... *sigh* *scooted some other stuff over a little better *hung some clothes hanging on the outside of a closet door knob in her closet. *put 5 hangers that were also there in the laundry area Back to it! Next: 15 min. in office of doom CD

Well, grabbed a bag in an open box that is blocking part of the way to the file cabinet... then, thought. Hmmm. Maybe I should deal with what is on the couch in there first, in case someone needs to take a nap in peace & quiet during Thanksgiving... So, put that bag back without opening it & grabbed a bag from the couch. It was the mateless sock bag. And, I realized there was a big pile of socks on the couch because I had stopped putting them in the bag which fell off the closet door knob because it was too full & heavy. So, it seemed really stupid to me to be messing with socks, but I also remembered that my DH sure seems low on socks in his drawer even though I am caught up on his laundry except for what is in our clothes hamper. So here's what I did: *52 socks tossed into trash!!! Some just were too worn to even giveaway... mostly DD's socks and she had had these for many years & some from marching band that she doesn't need anymore & those were very thin. Also, a couple holey ones, etc. *matched up a ton of socks. *most of them were DH's ... so put those in his drawer & noticed a bunch of singles in there... so matched them up & most had mates. The rest went back in Office & I matched a couple up but the rest ended up tossing. *one pair into DD's sock drawer *2 pairs into DS's sock drawer where I looked to see if he had any singles. Nope. *put 4 pairs into my drawer *put kitchen towel that was on couch into laundry area to wash... although it looked clean, but I wasn't sure. *cleaned up a wet spot on couch in our den that DH noticed. *put a bag in bag of bags to be recycled *put 2 pairs of socks in giveaway bag *emptied the now full Office trash into the kitchen trash *That finished filling up the Kitchen trash, so emptied kitchen trash, sprayed can & replaced bag So, I made a little dent in the mess on the couch, but no one but me would really know that. Next: put a load of laundry into washer. That won't take very long & I will get a start on dishes. CD

Poof! CD

Know what you mean.... *sigh* ...I do that too often. I am finding however that the more I toss, the more space is left for keepers to be put away. For example, a couple weeks ago I emptied a desk, and now there is a bottom drawer into which I am able to put all pens, pencils, tape, rulers, etc. That has really been helping to prevent me from putting these sorts of things onto the adjacent surface. Excellent work on the soxes, Cando. And all the other stuff. I jsut finished emptying an area in a closet, then moving there a few (unsorted) boxes of a particular craft project out of the dining room. That room is getting very close to completion. I put a table cloth on that side table, and it still doesnt look great so one day I'll have to paint it. After Christmas there will be much more space in one of the closets. I've been storing boxes of ornaments/decorations there, and after they are put up then taken down, and sorted, their eventual home is a metal filing cabinet in the garage. This will give me more wiggle room to be able to put away more things. There seem to be a good number of intermediate steps in all this, but I'm mainly trying to not make bigger messes as I work to get rid of things. I have to be careful about that - it's happened in the past and is very disheartening when things look worse than before you begin. I may be done for a few hours. I want to be unproductive and play around for awhile. Maybe take a nap, who knows?

Wow, great job on sox! I wish my fiancé would let me go through his!
I snoozed out after our late dinner and I guess I slept few hours because it was about 1.30 AM (Monday morning) when I woke up, though it felt like I had only been tossing and turning. I didn't get back (?) to sleep so here I am again.
On a positive side, I hope I can do couple of things I didn't manage to do yesterday (Sunday). I had this huge list of thing I wanted to accomplish for Sunday, but most of what I did we not home-related. But I did great deal of taking care of me, and that's important too!
I have our dinner dishes soaking and my next step is to wash them. I'll be back soon!

By the way CanDo, maybe your daugter could have some kind of "in box" or "pending" tray for papers needing her attention?

Thank you, BetsyMarie. You have really been doing so much in your home. And, I agree... I am soo much in a toss mode. Yes, it is so much easier to put stuff away when there is a home for them. And, tons of those intermediate steps... I, too, am trying not to make bigger messes as I work thru to get rid of stuff. That's why I am taking the time to do things like filing. So, here's what I did that round: *Filing of lots of papers from office in a bag *put 2 of those papers into shred bag *put 1 into Memories box I'm glad that I did that because in the past, when the Office in a Bag has become too full... guess what it just gets dumped into another bag or box. Now, I am trying to not make anymore of those. I'd like to get rid of them and not make more of them. Next I have to take a break to cook & eat dinner. Then, I intend to spent 15 minutes decluttering in the Office, again. CD

Dishes washed, counters wiped. I think I will start syncronizing my calendars now. It's not difficult job but I tend to ignore it too often. It's propably more than month since the last time and I have lot of apointments to write and type down. (For clarification, I have both paper calendar that I carry with me and Outlook on my computer which I also use a lot.) This task will make me feel much better and organized when done, more in control. I'm hoping getting this done in 30 minutes, wish me luck!

Great work CanDo!
45 minutes of writing/editing done. Now I'll go to bed and try to get some sleep for the few hours there is left before I have to get up and go to school.
I'm quite happy with my weekend, even though I didn't get even near finishing the essay or write any emails I had planned.

Good night to both of you.
I finished that last round & then got side-tracked by a phone call from one of my brothers.
I worked on that couch in the Office of Doom for 20 mnutes: *26 papers in recycle bag *2 into shred bag *gathered all the dog stuff (pre-agility training, fanny pack, toys, leashes, collars) and put them in a bag & then put that bag inside the backpack put that backpack in the bottom of hall closet. *put stick from pre-agility training into hall closet, too. *put office supplies into the Office Supply closet: crayons, colored pencils, notebooks, index cards, construction paper, battery, telephone, masking tape, rulers, etc) *put a handful of medical papers in the file in the file cabinet *tossed brand new bottle of calcium that was expired *put package of wipes in front bathroom closet
