Week of Sept 25th through Oct 1 Sept 25: nothing Sept 26: stopped to look at car at used car dealership, drove away without finding out anything about the car other than that it's 12 years old. Stopped for groceries: Produce, bread, cheese, dried beans, salmon, chicken, yogurt. All stuff I will use. Sept 27: Stopped at 2 stores on the way home. Bought a CD for DD that will be mailed to her tomorrow. Because of a sale on Tuesdays and a coupon, I was able to get if for half price, I also bought 2 books on clearance sale, which will go to the church library. I will be reimbursed for the books. I went to a fabric store. I had a coupon for 50% off of one non sale item. I bought quilt batting... $13. Instead of buying a piece bigger than I need and cutting it down, I bought a piece smaller, and will use the excess that I cut off my last quilt to make it the right size. I Bought nothing else at the fabric store, which is amazing for me. Sept 28: Went out, flled my tank with gas, bought some frozen corn for a recipe, mailed a package, and bought some postage stamps, because I can't seem to find the ones I bought last month. Sept 29: Worked 12 hours... bought nothing. Sept 30: Worked 8 hours. Bought nothing. Freebie box brought in to box up stuff to send to DD. Oct 1: Have been desqualoring all day. Tossed a pair of leggings that I last wore when I was pregnant 19.5 years ago. Tossed other items, bagged up some stuff to donate. Nothing in, lots of stuff packed and ready to go out.

I have been really broke these past two weeks, so very little opportunity to buy anything. A mixed blessing. Gas. Food. A magazine. A cookbook. I think that's it. Have brought nothing free home. Accumulated some freebies at work, but they have stayed at work. When I get home from wherever, I usually drop everything on a bench next to the front door and then I let the dogs out. I go back to pick things up and put them away (basically out of reach of the dogs!) I have been very mindful of what I am putting on that bench when I come in the door. Food is okay. Everything else is questionable.

Week of October 09 - 15: Oct 09: Nothing Oct 10: Bought a tool for squaring up my quilt squares. It will come in handy because the quilt I am working on will have about 120 squares depending on the final layout. I also bought new ear buds for my MP3 player, some waste baskets to put in my sewing area, because I realized I was just brushing the trimmings to the side... and they eventually become part of the squalor of that area. Some new computer speakers for DH, I will toss his old ones when he isn't around. Besides that I bought some groceries, enough to get me through Wednesday lunch at least. Eliminated two bags of clothing at The Salvation Army! Oct 11: Nada! Oct 12: Tank full for gas $50, $20 co-payment for Dr's appt. Then used a $10 gift certificate to order myself a new lab coat for work. The gift certificate basically covered the embroidery. I think the lab coat came to about $22 after all was said and done. Oct 13: Well, at work they were ordering fleece jackets for all of the staff at the price of $ 17.50. Yeah, I handed over the money today. Oct 14: Stopped at lumber/building supply store. Bought supplies to enclose run of chicken coop. Some nasty fox has been getting in there and wreaking havoc on the place. cost ~$20. Oct 15: To vet to buy meds for dog. $15. Stopped at orchard on the way home, bought some apples and potatoes, $5.50.

Great job Freedom and Ally!!
Love this thread. Wish it had been here 5 years ago!
This past week all I bought was gas and food. Still very low on funds so I have been keeping it bare-bones. Not even going to the laundromat as I'm afraid to spend any money that isn't essential at the moment.

I have to say I have shown iron will, when we go to the thrift store to drop off nags of donate, every other day!! I was searching for a dresser, which had to be a certain size to fit in my bathroom and replace two plastic drawer units! I have seen and wanted and passed by MANY cute things!! My DH not so much, he has bought several tools and put together a stereo system for DS16. He also buys him vinyl lp records as the kid is into some of the old 'big band' and swing records! He plays many instruments! Latest is the bassoon!! Anyway I have virtuously passed up much in order to stick to eliminating from my hoard!! But..... I found the dresser I was looking for and it was on a day when you could pick a duck and receive a percentage off! They were putting out 400sq feet of new snap together flooring out! And excited about the discount, I snapped up the flooring too!! We plan to replace the old stained carpeting with flooring, but we are not ready yet! . I just couldn't pass up the deal!! I got it for $40 dollars!! . Now I have to store it somewhere! Yipes! It's really good quality, I would not have been able to afford it at retail! I assume it was someones leftover from a whole house project. So I just wiped out a hundred "atta boys" with one "ahh sh!t"!! I'm still so happy I'm dancing, though!! Guiltily, Renee

Renee, Good deal! I love it when they have exactly what you are looking for. Honestly I've been dropping stuff off but not looking too much. A few days ago I dropped off some clothing at a clothing only drop, but people had dropped off lots of other stuff too. I almost walked off with a mirror, but resisted the urge.

Bought two pair of booties (and two for dd), a ceramic rooster, two books. Did not look at clothes. Looked at linens but did not buy anything. Bought Halloween decorations. Was definitely impulsive.

Good going, Sunshine and Ally!
Renee, I support you in that action -- I think we're allowed things to make our lives BETTER -- it's hanging on to things that make our lives WORSE that's kinda bad....

Was doing fine up until this weekend. Drove to get bagels and there was this great garage sale . . . I ended up buying vintage jewelry, some books, an old lock box and an old rubber stamp set. Lots of goodies there, it was terribly tempting, but luckily I didn't have a lot of cash on me. Spent $35. Had to buy a gift card and give $ for a relative's birthday. Also went to Goodwill and picked up some stuff to put together a Halloween costume for dd. Bought a vintage hatbox for myself. Altogether it was too costly a day. Felt very anxious.
