I have way too much stuff in my house. I do not know if I should get rid of things. I never had to made these decisions. I am the last man out of my family. I have a whole tote of old car ads from the 1950's and 1960's - should I get rid of them? I know that my mom was thinking that in my old age, I could sell them and make some money, but they are taking up space. Could I really get what they are worth on Ebay.

Sunshine, Fluffy, you could try a given number, say 10 -- list 'em, see what happens -- if good, go for it -- if not, well, out... 10/24-10/30 Mon 10/24: $1.67 McD's; $22.94 Rx; aaaaand $116.15 for car tags ouch! Tues 10/25: $12.12 Wally's, $2.24 Safeway, food only; $40.79 Rx (ouch!) Wed 10/26: Nothing Thurs 10/27: $1.05 McD's Fri 10/28: $5.58 milk Sat 10/29: Nothing Spent $0, but brought home a good heavy plastic tool-type box w/hinged-locking top & inner tray -- belonged to Df now in heaven, AND I have art supplies looking for a home. Also brought home a stationery box w/lid, plus extra lid -- like the logo, use such boxes for containerization-to-garage -- plus little box for little stuff. These are harder to justify as they both need (just a little!) repair... Sun 10/30: Nothing

hi ally Oh about your pooch. Good going on getting a free cat carrier. fluffychild - you could look on ebay and see what the car ads have sold for - not asking price, but actual completed sales prices. What people will pay for them are really what they are "worth." If you were to set up a booth at a car show, you might get more money from that specialized group. But then there is the expense of getting there, renting the booth, etc. Thanks, freedom! back at you for your meds costs!

Looks like your drinking your milk, Free!! I just got back from the doctor and he said I was very low on vitamin D!! He said it will probably take a year of 1000 mg a day to bring me up to normal!! I had no idea! Just checked because of something someone said here!!
I passed up a most beautiful couch! It is the king I always wanted, with ornate wood trim and an oval wooden frame of cushion on the back; very Victorian !! Even had ball and claw feet in a cream on cream satin print! It was made in Italy! It looked brand new! But .... I haven't gotten out the two couches I need to expell, in order to even think about replacing them! It was a little high priced as well. Still I went back a third time to "visit" it and it was gone!! Oh well..... I know this is the right decision, the timing isnt right, and that can't be the only one in the world!! Still I having feelings of regret! And a little anxious that I passed up my only opportunity!! Ahggg!! Oh well... Oh well... Oh dear...

that can't be the only one in the world!! This is a huge issue for me too, Renee! Last night I was doing some research on eBay and took lots of comfort from the fact that things I wanted months/years ago are still showing up just like clockwork!

oh Renee, I do understand! But who knows, maybe when the time is right, you will get an equally nice one for less $$ or free! One of my friends gave away the Victorian couch that he had in his house and which I had admired several times over the years. He forgot that I liked it and gave it to one of his neighbors. I was annoyed, but honestly I have a couch and I have an old nice loveseat, and I have a sleeper couch in storage! I did not really need it. There are thousands upon thousands of Victorian couches still bouncing around from place to place. Maybe this will serve as a motivator to get ready for the next time the opportunity presents itself?

I bought too much Halloween candy. I haven't eaten even one piece of the leftover - yet!
I bought a pair of moccasins. $45 I'm wearing them now. Very comfy and I don't have anything else like them. Also bought another pair of booties. $30.

Sunshine house, I just found my moccasins!! Sherpa lined!! As far as the couch the idea is that the universe will provide at the necessary time! Perhaps that WAS just incentive! I am chipping away!! Thanks for checking out my pics!! I am proud of myself!!

I have been away for the past week because of last weekend's storm and resulting 6 day power failure. In the past week I bought.... (I'm giving myself a little amnesty here...)
I bought food on a couple occaisions... nothing extravagant. Filled up my gas tank with fuel. somewhere around $46. I bought a battery powered lantern (~$20) that uses special 18v rechargeable batteries, (we already have 4 batteries for this system... and power tools that work off of it.) I charged batteries at work. Yesterday after realizing all of our surge protectors and power strips were "blown" due to a faulty generator we attempted to use... I bought 4 new ones, 2 expensive ones, 2 cheaper ones. I will probably need more, but will reevaluate this later.
Undecided... I will probably go out and buy a little 18v chain saw today ($120) to cut up some of these tree limbs that are laying all over the place. It's part of the same system as the lantern mentioned earlier. (Ryobi)
I have a mid-size aquarium, (30 gal, I think) Most of the fish died due to the extended power failure. I need to decide whether i want to clean it out and start over or just give up this hobby and sell the equipment....

I'm sorry about your fishies, Ally -- and think the chain saw would be a good investment/system addition (my 2c )

Today I went in for an oil change, and was told that my oil leak was much worse than I was aware of and I needed to get it repaired ASAP. I have to decide what to do now. I was hoping to get another year or two (or 3) out of this car. I bought 5 qts of oil. I also exchanged some clothes I had purchased online that didn't quite fit right. I returned 2, came home with 3. Now I need to get rid of a half closet full of clothes that I am not wearing! Oh, yeah, I bought some groceries and a book too.

I'm going to post here too. Sorry for the redundancy of posts!
I have to be honest. I wasn't able to completely abstain from online clothes shopping. At least I am now buying only if the item is useful with what I already have and I am not buying it just because it's on sale.
Since last I wrote about this in mid - Feb, I have purchased 1 pair of shoes, 3 bras, 6 tanks. It seems like a lot, doesn't it? Well, I had no tanks. I picked colors that go with everything else I have, the shoes are tan leather, low chunky heals, and I was badly in need of bras. Now some clothing items need to leave. That's much harder, but I'll do it.
I have taken the advice of window shopping online. That is, I pick out things I like and put them on my Wish List. I may or may not ever buy them. The looking, picking out, and adding to Wish Lists actually seems to satisfy most of my buying urges. But apparently I am not ready for cold turkey quite yet.
