You know I love your sewing mouseling I haven't bought anything other than groceries because that would require not being a troll and I excel at being a troll hiding at home. Food wastage has been minimal this month. We'd eaten our way through most of the grains and beans, Every once in awhile I like to eat long term stuff like that down to nothing, next month we'll have to stock up though. Tossed some cilantro that got sad, tossed some carrots but it's so much cheaper to buy the larger bag than the smaller bag it's somehow less expensive to toss part of the larger bag than buy the smaller one. intense eye rolling here. garlic started to sprout so I planted it, used the basil and mint leaves and sprouting the stems. Used some of the left over salad bits to make a salsa and the rest were too scary and tossed. I really hate tossing food so glad that lately at least things aren't going unused and being tossed.

Sadly, you're exactly right that it is cheaper to buy the larger quantities, even if you only need a little bit. I try to freeze stuff, but realistically, that just doesn't work.
I should probably look at some way to pass leftover food on to someone else in the community. Maybe once I get out of deep squalor. . .

Spent over 300 euros today. Most of it for DD's apartment. It never ceases to amaze me how lots of little things can add up to so much. A third of it went towards planters, screening (from neighbour's balcony for more privacy) , plants and earth for her balcony. Another third was for shelves and the brackets. But the other third...geez, I don't know, 4 euros here, 3 there, 5 there, 8 here... and so on. I keep telling myself, to rationalize it all: 'you can't take it with you', and rather now when I can than later when I can't or cannot "enjoy" seeing how the money is invested.

I fell off the wagon yesterday, I went to a yard sale that had BEAUTIFUL items... bought 2 red and gold decorative containers, a red perfume bottle, (this one is OK) a pink toile box for my granddaughter's bedroom, it is decorated in pink and green with the toile pieces being the stabalizing element. I have a small Madam Alexander baby doll for her and I will put it in the box and give it to her for her birthday. But the elaborate red and gold picture frame, the decorative finials, and the box the urn and the perfume bottle will have to find homes here. Each item is very lovely, each item matches the decor, each item is loved, ARUGGGGGGGHHHHH! but they WERE NOT NECESSARY!!! And I don't know what to move/toss to make room to display them. Hopefully, there is a good chance that the box will wander to the office and contain items there, because it will "match" there too.

ahhhh yes, in the past, my downfall: yard sales, flea-markets, boot sales. So tempting. All-the-more-so when there are beautiful items for a song. It is really very VERY difficult for me to NOT go to one if I know it is taking place. To walk past one, without meandering down the tables..."just in case there is something there i have always wanted" (but did not know I did) rationalize: TRY to enjoy what you bought until you give them away, or have your own yard sale.

Enjoying them isn't the problem, I love the items... it's assimilating them that is the problem. WHERE can I put them to enjoy them?

Enjoying them isn't the problem, I love the items... it's assimilating them that is the problem. WHERE can I put them to enjoy them? I was thinking about this post. I love being surrounded by things I love. I think I'm just a cluttery kind of person. Even if everything was in place, I would still want lots of stuff around me. Back to my spending habits. I spent $10 at DGS's swim meet Saturday. I packed a chest full of food, we ate it all, and he was still hungry, so we ended up stopping at a local Mexican restaurant for him.

My acquisitions today at the thrift: Turquoise blue cotton turtleneck sweater Blue wool cardigan Lilac cotton turtleneck (new), on my list for a couple of months Blue jeans (new) always on my list Carried around but did NOT buy two pieces of fabric and a necklace that matched the blue sweater since my goal is to make my own jewelry set. Total cost: $17
Items are replacing two pairs of blue jeans, one pair will be downgraded to barn work. One short sleeved blue summer sweater that wasn't flattering, another sweater, same issue. One blue t shirt that was too big for me. Those things were in mind as I did my purchases.
Also did not buy books!

there's stuff i want lately but not much that i need and our place is kind of unpleasant lately so not much i want to bring in... my general rule is if i don't have a home i can immediately put a new purchase in then i don't usually make the purchase. did run out of hand soap so our bathroom has a new sweet almond hand soap and the animals bathroom has an appropriate "keep calm and carry on" handsoap. have been trying to to not buy extras and duplicates but that plan is not working out with toiletries. i'm irritated when i run out of things like that.

I think it's good to keep extra toiletries on hand. I always keep a little extra tissue, paper towels, soap, that sort of thing. I also hate to run out.

I got a new running jacket ....I have so many jackets I think I need to cull some Jackets and coats are a category of clothing I tend to over-acquire. Kind of funny, considering I live in a climate where I may go all winter without needing a real coat!

having the flu's meant i didn't want to infect everyone like a very loud hacking unsubtle typhoid mary so i didn't go out much. the other day i picked up another 3 or 4 scripts. some were at target so while we were there i grabbed kleenex, lots of kleenex, more kleenex hand sanitiser, some more hand sanitiser paper towels since we were out, i'd cleaned out a cabinet so there's room to store the 6 pack not leaving them out for crazytownbill to destroy box of tea new pill box since the lid on one of mine broke
haven't had much food wastage. left overs have just been fed to the cats. some lettuce got sad. throat's been too sore to want salads and raw veg much. half an onion bottle of bbq sauce that just wasn't getting used. we liked it one time, then didn't, then kept it around since it was one for two but it hit the expiration date and who knows how long it had been open.
stopped at thrift store and found a cotton sheet to use as back of duvet cover for 2 dollars. and a lightweight merino wool cardigan for 2 dollars. replacement water bowl for the cats since their kitchen bowl got broken. Straw Dispenser 1- pyrex water bowl 0. That straw dispenser is fierce.
