So happy I found a good home for my son's MegaBlock sets. We bought him a Jungle set that came in the big tub, along with the wagon that came with a smaller amount. But somewhere around 120 or so blocks. The wagon is his thing he likes to tote stuff around with so can't part with that yet. But gave all the blocks and the large bin to my co-workers. They have a little girl that's not quite 1. They were thrilled to get the set since it is over $40 new. And I'm happy to give this item to someone other than Good Will. Not knocking Good Will. That's where a large amount of my stuff goes. I just know sometimes my husband and I both have a hard time parting with these things because we get hung up on the money, "Oh it cost this much!" My hubby will more say, "oh we can sell that." My response though is, "Is it worth it? Will we actually post it and find a home?" Too big to ship on ebay and not worth dealing with people on Craiglist. I like to get rid of furniture and other large stuff that way.
So does this count as 1 item? Or over 100? I say over 100 because these blocks were scattered all over my house. Son stopped "building" with them and just was throwing them.

Today is one big bag of shredding. It was mostly dh who shredded bills, he is trying to get his life sorted out and I'm not stopping him! Regular trash went out too. He found so much under his couch and filled the bag....ugh. Again a good thing. He lost the remote control. And tore the couch apart. I have gotten rid of small things over the past couple of weeks and nothing new is coming in. We still have z longgg way to go though.

Went thru son's stuff and tossed three pairs of shorts and pants so they weren't able to be sewn or repaired so that was automatically tossed! We are tossing old toy sewing machine as daughter got new one.
Trashing old tennis balls with no bounce... I am just going to buy a three pack tin next week.
Tossed some of gloves with holes and mateless.
Stuff is leaving in droves.

Today I decided that the covers to all of my old videos and the accompanying papers could go.
At first I said I should keep themin case I give away the movies but I realized that the important part was the DVDs.
I came to this conclusion when I realized I have over two hundred movies,my ex knows how to recreate covers and cases can be bought. If I did sell or give away the DVDs the person would be interested in the DVDs not the accompanying papers and covers.
Grand total tossed so far 369 DVD video cases!!!

lostchild you have been on a roll!! WTG!! We did that a couple years back with the boxes for the DVD's. Most of them are in a binder, just the DVD movie. Husband saved the boxes in a LARGE box in the attic for quite awhile. But I think we got rid of that well over a year ago. Now he says we need to buy a 2nd binder for the new DVDs we have acquired. We don't buy many these days. My thoughts are though they need to be purged. So yeah if they are given to someone, they do not have the box with the picture anymore. But they still work. We have some movies I have not watched in 5-10 years.

MamaAngie I decided I needed the space more. If I get rid of DVDs I can always purchase those paper sleeves that are available.
I am determined to get rid of as much stuff to get from under the mound so to speak. I also figured in a fire or evacuation situation I would only care about the DVDs and CDs not the cases.
I even checked with a friend who did the same thing who told me they didn't regret getting rid of them at all. She then moved and said not packing and having to have the space made it easier because they ended by putting their stuff in storage and literally every inch counted.
As it was even with 2 massive purges she still has a completely filled storage. She moved from a house with three bedroom and a huge yard with lots of outdoor equipment to a 2 bedroom apartment. She purged effectively so the stuff in storage is all useful household things.
If I needed to move at this point I can see I would only get rid of my couch..its ratty but its the only source of seating in my living room that seats the three of us.
I also edited this to add I would get rid of stuff old owners left behind like paints and varnish, spa cleaner mostly from 2002. To that end my appointment is set for 27th at hazardous waste place.
