Cando - every bit counts the same as any other bit. It ALL counts! Although, I'd sure like it to say, "Kicked MAGGOT butt and lived!" on my Special Badge.

... I rearranged a shelf on one end of the closet and got rid of 6 pair of jeans... OH, I admire that so much. I have nothing but trouble keeping jeans. I finally went searching out things I could make with old jeans and discovered I had to learn to sew! It's a lot like woodworking, putting parts together. Unfortunately (or luckily), I didn't have room for a sewing center. Now I LOOK at the new pile of old denim and realize I had a good time once (long ago) selling a stack just like that, as raw materials for crafters. Fabric is easy to sell but often at such low prices, the post office makes more money on the deal than the seller. Denim especially. There are thrift shops all over using denim as a lure for shoppers. Denim lasts forever and even when it's old and decrepit, that's yet another fashion statement, "Look, Mom, HOLES in all the right places!" Okay, I needed to see someone doing the denim deed... if you can do it without lightning striking you dead, I can risk it too. I WILL get rid of this pile of denim, probably on Monday. (I've been away from home a lot lately so I have to stick close for a day or two.)

I wish I could talk charities into coming to the house but except for one, which has scheduled routes only, nobody wants to use gasoline to pick up cheap stuff any more. I shop these places a lot and they have changed my views in some instances. I tend to give to one charity in particular but they really are NOT profitmaking, so they only have one branch now. It's a bit of a drive but if I were giving up a big chunk of valuables, I'd definitely give to them preferentially.
Charities are big businesses too these days. I bet a lot of folks would be surprised to know that about 85% of clothing donations to large charities are sold to international rag pickers by the pound. I have a friend who works for one of the biggest charities in America and they have a huge warehouse/laundry where they run everything through huge machines to wash them. Those new "rags" go to yet another place out of town where they're "cubed" like crushed cars. Those cubes are put into seatainers provided by the buyers who send them overseas.

I agree 60.. and here the the Goodwill stores are franchised. They are investments, not that don't do good for others, but it is a big business. The stores here look like department stores. Our St Vincent De Paul. Just sold there old building, former grocery store, for 3.9 million dollars!
Today was my garbage pick up. I managed to throw out a light box thing BF made for shooting his blog. Cleaned out the fridge, found some more yogurt from Jan! The trash wheelie was full! I still not in eating mode, but not wasting much, but threw out a few things that were long beyond eating. Big news, I had 2 bags, like the 44 gallon garbage size, coffee milk etc pods, for Tassimo and the other machine. Leftover from my Rep days.. and I tossed the whole works in my trash. They were in my garage, no room for them in house. They were free, I don't like the milk taste, they are at least 2 years old. The Starbucks, the Tassimo all give me heartburn. I will donate the machine(s) I did not buy them, were for demos. I would not buy these for the price of the pods. I have a Keruig, and I get those pods at Sams, and use holder to self load my own. I had just a glimmer of but what if I need them, I lost that rent money.. GONE! SO I need amnesty! The nice suitcase with the pull handle.. but the handle to lift is is missing.. still here. BUT no room in the bin anyhow.
I have to keep going. I have to reclaim my house. I am working on getting more done.. shampooing my family room carpet in sections. HUGS TO ALL who are joining in. WE can do this!

Goodwill stores are franchised?? I've never heard of that. You mean, like buying a MacD's franchise? It's sold like a hamburger branch?

Anyway -- I got rid of a large black plastic bag today, with three smaller bags inside it. Does that count as four?

I am totally determined to do this, I don't care how many "re-starts" it takes! Other than regular trash like tissues I have not tossed anything since Sunday.
Sunday, I did the following: 4 bags of trash taken to outside can tossed packaging from toilet seat -- was hanging around here too long! 3 bags of recyclable bottles/cans/jars taken to outside can

Way to go all! I am so glad you keep the thread up. Struggling along, but I am here. I have been tossing things, but can't remember all that I have. If I have time today I am going to take a few things to GW drop off. A small TV that you need a box for now. I electric baseboard plug in heater. I tossed some broken things. I suitcase with a broken or no handle, I just took that outside and threw in trash wheelie.
Here GW they are franchised..like a chain business. Here they keep building brand new building! Not that do not provide service.. but they make big money too!

I didnt give anything away, but I dug out items to sell. 2 sales today! have one lined up for tomm, a furniture piece.
It feels so good when you get moving. And you see things go. I donated a lot before my move, and kept the good stuff, now Im weeding through furniture pieces I kept for projects to resell. I have too many, so Im unloading some as is.
I cant imagine a day where I dont have a bunch of STUFF to go through! On my way though
