I put boxes out with the trash before the truck came. A half a bag of Muesli.. dated 2008!I had tossed some more food items early this a.m. and gone and forgotten. This does motivate me, I read the post and thought, go find something in your kitchen to toss! Thank you all for joining in! A item a day does make a difference, in the house and in your brain!

I have been absent.. and this morning I got up early and cleaned off the dining room table.. of all the BF's old mail, bank statements etc. AND threw them out. Anything of value, I kept. The clothing he left to donate, going out of here. I am going to have to work in spurts over the weekend.
Yesterday he came here, drove that 100 miles all to tell me he did not want to break up, but separate! I put a timeline on it, said how about we meet in 4-6 weeks.. I was not going to leave it open ended. I hate limbo. Set some other "rules" no dating, no one else in the picture etc. I got the "I know it is a cliche, but this is all about me and not you, and I have to concentrate on finding a job..According to him, I have done nothing wrong! Really, why is that men find it so hard to leave me, him and the ex husband. My ex, he moved out a few times and came back... I am going dark, which is no contact. He can have his space. I go from strong to mush.. in a heartbeat. I have done this before with the ex.. I never wanted to do again.
He looked he was going to cry when he left.. and he said mind if I leave my stuff in the dining room. I said don't worry I will pack it up... and he said you are not going to toss on the driveway are you? I said I am not that kind of woman.

Missue, I totally admire your way of handling this. You aren't letting it fester, nor are you rushing to conclude anything.
I say get thee to the front door and DEPART. Call pal and go for a big sketti dinner or pizza or something. Have a night out. Talk. Forget Crying Man for a few hours.
Oh yeah, I took a heaping big bag of junque to the curb today. No playing Taps, nothing, just GO.

I'm bad about counting the numbers of small things. I tend to think of "one garbage bag full of stuff" as my One Item Per Day.
It's funny how much easier it is now than it used to be, tossing stuff. I just don't let things pile up the way I used to. I got used to picking something up and then LOOKING AROUND to see what else I can pick up while I'm on my way to the garbage can. It has become a habit, I think.

I have managed to get a big bag of whatever clothes that were in my dining room and put them in the trash.. BF's. Any other clothing I stuffed a duffel bag of his in there and left in. Papers of mine I got out in and my trash wheelie. I started to toss shampoo etc of his in my shower bath.. relented and put under sink. Did toss a whole garbage can of papers in my own office. That is about all I can manage today!
Good job all and we made it through the month.. Thanks for being so supportive, in the One Item a day.. and for all your support in my personal stuff!

Found a leak under my bathroom sink yesterday and it could have been leaking for a long time. I had to take everything out. The bathtub is completely full and dh wanted to know how I could possibly get all that stuff under that small vanity. Anyway, I had a gallon ziplock bag of hotel soaps, lotions and shampoos (it was something I am not allergic to) from at least 5 years ago. I chucked the whole thing! I also threw out a bottle of 409 and some generic bathroom cleaner, both of which I am allergic to, but saved because I felt so awful about spending good money on that stuff.

I have two more bags of garbage headed out the door. I'll wait until noon, in case I manage to fill up one more (I am doing a bathroom rearrangement, getting rid of reading materials).
Forget recycling paper. It's not even worth the gasoline to get to a station that takes paper/cardboard, etc. I'd rather burn it but even that is more work. I'd rather just get rid of it. I always babysit fires, so it takes up a lot of time.
I'm almost ready to make/buy a burn barrel. It's way more portable than a gigantic rocket stove would be. Maybe I'll weld one up. I haven't been to the metals yard in ages. I've been thinking that an old filing cabinet could be welded up into a decent stove pipe. (You'd be shocked how much stove pipe costs.)

This morning after washing dishes, sweeping floor and breakfast, I rearranged a shelf on one end of the closet and got rid of 6 pair of jeans, 1 ratty sweatshirt, 1 pair of pj's and refolded and restacked everything else, then went to the bathroon and worked on my towel shelf. I threw out 1 christmas towel set and 2 other old ratty ones. I may go pull them out of the sack and take to dh's tool shed, since we always need old towels and rags when he is working on his rusty stuff or I am refinishing furniture. They are still out of the house!

Just washed a twin-size crocheted blanket (not one my mom made), and I'm giving it to my friend who wants it. Yay!
Adios, and have a good life...elsewhere!

Everyone is doing more, and I glad. Good work to jemmi, imamess, Over60, and Cando! You help inspire me! I emptied the BF's dresser, and put it all in my garage, 3 black bags of clothing. I am not going to toss it until I hear from him, if ever. I threw out more mail of his that is not something he will keep, all on line. some more small thing from dining room cords, etc. Reclaim my end table. More to do with that!
Yesterday I brought a bag of trash from my basement, mostly paper. I try when I go down there, find something I can bring up and get rid.. try being the word. Keep going all!

I tossed a BEDSPREAD. I mean a big one, not in terrible condition but it's always been a bear to keep clean. It weighs a ton. The cats dig up threads with their claws so it looks older than it should. I hate the color.
I kept it because it kept me warm one night when I slept in the car. It was a security blanket sort of thing.
Today, while I was confronting the Unspeakable Mounds outside, I saw it folded up on a chair. I marched it over to the garbage bag. I'm not washing it or drying it or softening it or hauling it around in the car any more. Ever.

I got a nasty surprise when I threw out an older big black bag of garbage this morning. I hadn't realized it was not a recycle bag, I forgot I'd run out of smaller white garbage bags so I emptied garbage into a big black one in a slightly different location.
It felt heavy, which was why I had used smaller white bags. I lifted it with two hands and put it into the car, not wanting to drag a hole in it walking to the place where I trade handywork for garbage services. It's just a block but the sidewalks are rough and uneven.
I drive there, jump out, get the cans out - and lifted my black bag and see MAGGOTS crawling out of a small hole, onto the old towel I use when I transport dirty stuff in the car. EWWW. Luckily, there were some gloves. Not so luckily, no mask. I tossed the bag into the garbage can and shake out the towel into the can. It is ALL I can do not to throw this towel away. I keep telling myself it will wash and bleach out and grow up. Maggots are just worms, after all. Flies got into the bag and laid eggs. They hatched in warm weather.
I am HAUNTED now by that towel but I'm just not going to throw it away. I'm doing laundry at MIL's house today and it will get the bleach treatment and it will be my utility towel as before.
That's definitely my One Thing for the day.

Eww, 60! You certainly earn the award today!!!!!! Glad you got that outta there! I just wanted to let y'all know that I have been putting a few papers in the recycle bag every day. So, rather than leave them where I pay bills or go thru mail... I get up and put them in the bag & don't wait for "tomorrow" to do it. (I know... it's not much compared to what all y'all are doing.... ) CD
