today I took a pile of papers from the paper basket and shredded. Louie. I'm trying to get consistent. Repeated action will get me there.

Don't ask how I lost son's social security card he's had for twenty two years this week but I immediately found birth certificate in filing box and was able to immediately take it and his identification and got it replaced. I remember I had it when I took him to job site and don't know what happened after that. Will put birth certificate back immediately in a.m.
New paperwork being issued for baby. I have his immunization cards and medical records. I am making a new folder for him in a.m. Tossed junk mail.

A lot of old newspapers went out. Also, I have found a list of goals from 10 years ago, I don't think they have been touched since the day they were written. I will need to be strong and review them, then decide how to move on.

I saw this book marked, had to call in today - so, just filed some more. Easy things out of envelopes. My goal this year - to catch up so next years can go in new file folder thingy without getting mixed up, like the last lot. Then to transfer over things that continue on. for the future. yikes. I have one day left of this year.

hi everyone, and happy new year! I've done 15 mins of paper sorting and filing this morning. [/img] I've started an exercise book that I will keep in my bill paying - paperwork folder, where I can write down all the due dates of things and the details on any paperwork related tasks that need doing. I'll just write them straight in, draw a little checkbox next to it and then when it's done tick it off. I think I need something physical to help me keep track of the paper/finance etc tasks that need doing and the due dates. Having the clipboard with the bills on it, with first to be paid on top, has helped a lot, but there is other paper related tasks besides the bills. my 'paper clutter' goals for this year are: - process the days mail completely every night - stop saving newspapers - I only need to keep one spare for veggie peeling - get all bills paid on time- keep track all due dates - each month check filing cabinet for files that can be destroyed - complete changeover to all electronic statements and bills and set up folders for these on laptop - sort through boxes of photographs and scan anyone else have some paper clutter related goals for 2015? Also do you think I should start a new thread for 2015? [/img] [/img]

I have huge goals for paper this year with everything I have going on. I need to be much better organized with my papers due to being self-employed and a single mother with 2 special needs boys. I need to setup a better system to keep track of all my business papers since right now everything from last year is all over the place and is going to take me time to gather up. I also need a better system for all of mine and the boys medical papers and boys school papers. I started backing everything up on flash drives but have a long way to go to catch up with everything here. I also need to start a new file since within the next 2 months I will be buying some land and hopefully a motor home and will need to make sure I pay them on time to help my credit score.

Louie, I like the continuity of staying with this thread instead of starting another. I often look through this thread to see my progress, as well as to follow up on ideas that other members have implemented. My 2 cents.

Today was actually a very good day for me where paper is concerned. I was able to go thru 2 large stacks of papers and have a full bag of recycling ready to go. I decided to put the papers I have started to sort into a box and once I have gone thru all the papers in my room and have them in the box I will organize them for filing. I usually don't do this but right now I need to get my room cleaned and then I will work on the papers.

I worked for about an hour today on papers but needed to keep most of them so I worked on filing a few of them away. I am hoping tomorrow I will be able to go thru the rest of the papers that are on the floor and hopefully get rid of a lot of them.

papermoon I am happy to stay on the thread, I like to read back over old posts sometimes too, helps me to see what others did that worked and to remember how bad it was when I started andrea you are doing great! An hour is really good and it will be good to get the papers from the floor finished - well done!! I have posted a link on my blog to some pics of my finally cleaned up office/ sewing room. This is the room that used to be just filled with paper clutter - I did not take pics of that clutter but believe me, it was pretty bad, I talked about it in my first few posts on this thread. Once I cleared the paper clutter I decided to turn my office into a sewing room and it got quite cluttered but I'm finally got it right now and it makes me smile every time I go past it on the paper front - I spent quite a bit of time working out the due dates for everything I need to pay this year and I have them all written in my new exercise book. From that I have made a list for each month with checkboxes and almost everything is now on automated payments and online bills where I can do that. sorting out the paperwork has helped sort out the finances. I also threw out all the old newspapers and collected all the photographs and put them in one cupboard. papermoon, I read on your blog about PEEPs (place for everything & everything in it's place)and I've started doing that for 10 mins after tea at night before I sit down with my cuppa, it does help so thanks

Went through LOTS of paper this past week. Pretty much caught up with bill paying. My goal for tomorrow is to gather the rest of the papers in the living room and take a bag full to the library to go through.

Over the weekend I was able to go thru all the papers that were on my floor including all of my mail from this week. I still have plenty of work to do where paper is concerned but I can start to see the end finally. My next step with my papers is scanning them onto flash drives and getting rid of more papers. I am seriously hoping that within the next couple of months to have a majority of the papers I have on flash drives and not on paper anymore except for vital documents.

@louie I vote for keeping this thread too.
I like your goals and have been thinking of my own.
My daily goals (or weekly too I guess) would be to enter all expenses and income into Quicken in a timely way, daily would be preferred, no longer than a week would be acceptable. I would like to be opening and responding to paper mail and e-mail as regularly as daily or weekly. Pay bills on time. Cull old files and papers. I have several years of back tax returns to file. Continue to work through S's papers, both current and old papers (to cull). Photos are in there somewhere too.
I have a lot of really big projects to do in this area and it might take me the entire year and maybe longer to really make a dent.

I've just been treading water while I wait for my credit reports to arrive. Reading the Nolo "Credit Repair" book daily to prepare myself. Processing the mail every day. Paid one bill online today (phone, which varies from month to month). The other bills (four) are set amounts and are deducted automatically... I love that. I pay my storage rental in person with cash, in order to stay aware and connected with that situation.
