Will unload this morn. Not many dishes lately, haven't been eating in much. But I got groceries yesterday so hopefully I'll start making some healthy meals.

I received a new, free dishwasher yesterday! I'm so excited! I haven't had a dishwasher in 2 years. Probably won't get it hooked up until after Christmas but I'm still happy.

Hi cleanbee - good work keeping up with the dishes and stocking up with groceries.
well done wynken, Louie and dayeanu. Hi thedreadedknock, what a great Christmas present! I really appreciate having access to a dishwasher - in fact I don't like to think what the kitchen would be like without it.
I haven't had much spare time for posting lately - dishes have suffered a little, I feel I have been treading water, doing at least one load a day, but a small backlog in the wings.
Today I unloaded the DW, put dry dishes away & completed round 1 of dishes. Now I am going back to finish the backlog.
ETA - all dishes now washed

For me, I think the trick has been to do the dishes twice each day. Then there are never too many. Even when I'm extremely tired, there are never too many dishes to wash.
Before this thread, I would only wash them once a day after dinner, but most of the time I wouldn't wash all the dishes and pans because there were just too many and I'd give up. Those leftovers plus the leftover breakfast dishes sat all day, which made fixing dinner a nuisance. Or, if I washed after breakfast but didn't wash after dinner, then my mornings had a depressing draggy start from waking up to a sinkful of dirty dishes. Always some dirty dishes left over somewhere, in the sink or on the counter or dirty pans still sitting on the stove, and that dragged my energy down all day, having that nagging feeling in the back of my mind no matter how hard I tried to ignore it or justify it.
Now I do the dishes twice every day, no exceptions. And this has worked for me, nearly 9 months now.

I am at dd's, but washed up before i left home. i'm thinking this is a first in recent history. papermoon - there was a time in ancient history when I was quite anal about dishes done promptly. Distressed when they weren't done. I'm reading what you write and starting to think - maybe that would work for me too. Often the days dishes take less than 5 minutes, but maybe I'd be more likely to do another job as well after I wash up = using that water. Its something to consider. I'm thinking of some of the bench items I'm willing to give away, that could do with a wash first. Good work jendela and dayeanu. cleanbee - welcome to the new puppy, and congratulations. Keep on doing what you can, and posting here. You will catch up. btw - I hope you are getting some sleep at night. .
