New blade for my old faithful bow saw. Wooden dowel to fasten onto a new squeegee I got the other day, for a 4' handle. Some new drill bits.
later--5 bags of cedar mulch to spread around in the area where I have been pulling weeds. (Finished pulling weeds today.)

peaceandfreedom I LOVE going into a hardware store and I swear I can spend hours considering the cool stuff I will use once..I have fancy laser/level/ nail finder, too techy, and the like just sitting around and two paint sprayer systems never used..
I end up parking my butt on a solid stepstool and painting fence slats one by one...while the cat investigates bugs in the grass.
and those little useful purchases so you can GET STUFF DONE are most important!

CC and outfromundah, the dryer was free on Craigslist! I was looking through Craigslist through the free section as I often do and it popped up! I called immediately, she had listed it 9 minutes previous. I had a similar thing happen last year when I got my two big beautiful blue orpington chickens. I saw the ad 15 minutes after it was posted and called immediately. Show chickens that the lady had paid $17 apiece for at a day old...free. So glad I got them. That Malibu Pro pilates chair I got a few months ago was another Craiglist free listing. And back last fall, a tall white laminate Ikea bookcase. Free baby! Yeah! _____________ Acquisition today: Sea green boucle v-neck cotton sweater, $5. Sedona brand, very good condition. I'll set it as a project for the weekend to get my spring capsule wardrobe pieces pulled together. Fun.

angela> spring capsule wardrobe pieces << what does this mean? 'capsule'? inquiring fashion minds want to know! (says the gurl who wears rags)
and free baby! yeah! << I am still doing a metta to 'let it go' when i see FREE now
BEFORE if it was still sitting on the side of the road when I came home it was MINE. << happened with a $100. big round dog bed i STILL have, and an antique wood screen door that I love to pieces!!
Stuff falls off of 'trash' loads headed for the dump, and flies out of the back of pick up trucks around here.. i give the owner time to come back for it.. then..all bets are off. NOW I will rescue and DONATE.

The only things I have bought lately besides food was 2 five gallon gas cans for $10.00 each. They look brand new, but have had gas in them and depending on the place around here can run from $20.00 each to nearly $40.00 each. I'm just trying to pay the bills and not spend too much after all of the remodeling in Feb. and March.

2 Lithodora plants, for the area I've cleared out and mulched. Part of it is on a slope, so I think these plants will be perfect. But it is raining steadily today, so they must stay in their pots for a while yet, till I can get back out there.

Last night Fence Guy gave me a Dremel tool in a nice case with a few different heads. The case is nasty, I'll clean it up today. My dremel is on its last legs and I was happy to have this one.

Haven't been to a Goodwill store in a long time. Today I got a pair of jeans $4.99; a cute handmade apron $3.99; a hand-lettered calligraphy piece of I Corinthians 13 (Love is patient...etc.) $7.99; a nice framed poster of my favorite lighthouse on the NW Coast $3.99; and a brand new 1-1/2" 3-ring binder $1.99. Grand total $22.95. All will be used and enjoyed.

Purchases today: A Kindle book: "Lagom", $2.99, used credit from a gift card received for Christmas. Swdish lifestyle choice of "Just Enough". Sounds interesting enough! Clothing purchases from Old Navy, online. 4 tank tops to wear as a first layer, 2 striped t-shirts, one linen blend t-shirt, one taupe cotton cardigan. Several things already on sale plus additional 35% off as a website special today, plus another 10% for filling out a survey which also gave me free shipping. I do cringe a bit when I order from Old Navy or buy in their store but budget wins out. I NEVER find tank tops at the thrifts that I would want to wear. With these discounts, just as an example, a tank top ended up costing $2.50. The striped t-shirts (super cute), $4.50. So you know, sometimes... Another 7 t-shirts are leaving my possession as penance.

I have splurged at IKEA yesterday. Some purchases were planned: 3 big storage boxes (to get rid off some oled ones), a box of candles, cranberry juice.
Then I have bought 4 small storage boxes with deviders for my christmas tree decorations. I have been looking for something like that for ages.
I did not plan to buy a frying pan (which I do need, my old one is not in thes best shape), a bag of coffee (I love the kind they brew there) and 2 plates and 2 soup bowls that would go with my set of 6 (I need to have 8 placings).
I will be returning the plates, bowls and one small box, since I only needed 3 and have no other use for it. The plates are way too big, even bigger than my set which IS bigger than usual and I have not noticed that in the shop.
I hate returning things, but IKEA has a policy that allows it and thanks to this site I know it is usual thing to do and I won't have to get annoyed with myself for a bad choice every time I will see them at home.
ETA: plates and bowls were returned, my dad wanted to keep the box.

Another shopping trip on Friday. I bought the plates I needed, this time I took a measurement and got the right size. Bought a pyjama I needed and splurged on fine bone china mug. Creative tops Royal Harvest. I love bone china.

I finally tossed my dome popcorn maker, it was leaking the coconut oil into the motor, and leaving a big oil spot...as much as i liked it I knew it was dangerous..sure enough it is no longer made, so I bought a stovetop hand tired cheap one (they are all $20.)
thin metal that scratched the glass top of the stove, and isn't particularly easy to use, or clean, or get the lid off, you can't tell if something is burning, and a black scorch spot already on the bottom. grrr..so I am retuning it to BB&B.
Online there are several electric types, but reviews always show the problem they found, even air poppers and microwave ones aren't great. Price is no determiner of quality. I tried a heavy pot as we used when I was a kid, but not good enough, you need a steam vent in the lid. So I may just stick to a "jiffy pop" preloaded disposable single use pan. or give up popcorn!

Acquisitions update: Got my Old Navy order. Will need to exchange the tank top undershirts. I was too optimistic in buying XL, need XXL.. Oh well. The other pieces I got, the two striped tops, the peach top, and the taupe cardigan fit wonderfully and I like them very much. For me, who is 99% of the time buying at the used stores, it was pretty fun to open up packages of brand new clothing. The peach top is a linen cotton blend t-shirt style, very loose and light. I am trading out a linen hoody style top that I never entirely liked but kept because I knew I could wear it in the hottest days of summer. So out it goes, still in excellent condition and will be enjoyed by someone I hope. ______________ The Solaris dryer I got free on Craigslist works great but there were a couple of hangers missing (you need their special hangers) and the wall brackets didn't make it along either. So Laundry Alternative can get me those replacement parts for $29.95 including shipping. That feels like a lot to me for a couple of pieces but of course inexpensive compared to the overall cost if I had bought the unit. But I wouldn't have bought the unit right now anyhow..free was a good price! I'm pondering.... The wall brackets look to be custom for the unit, not something I can just go buy, and the unit has to be wall mounted, that's how it works. ______________ New acquisitions last week: 3 new-with-tags underwear that unfortunately will be donated right back. Too big. A pair of these Gloria Vanderbilt brand jeans that I like so much, a sort of sagey gray green. I have 4 pairs of this brand now. They fit well and have a bit of stretch. Unneeded impulse scarf purchase: black with taupe polka dots. I have a thing for polka dots and acted on impulse. I can return and might... Craft supplies: 5 little bags of those tiny fuzzy pompoms. I was having a manic few days last week and got caught up in craft project planning and spent time assembling fabrics and trims from my stash. The pompoms are part of the embellishment. Also, a package of two square chair seat pads, thank goodness. I have been looking for a while.

In the last twenty four hours only bought food and stopped at a charity shop and bought eleven stuffed toys. My neighbor has a golden retriever still in the puppy stage. Yesterday he chewed up two stuffed toys. The toys are cheap there.
