Hi fluffychild, nice to see you ________ I've been on a bit of an acquisition tear this last week. Today at the thrift I got yet another heated throw. This one a Sunbeam brand, the other two were from Target. This one is new and the sage green color that I have all over my bedroom. I am quite the blanket hoarder now. Anyway, got it for 25% off, $5. Also a square, plain light wood frame. I have never seen a square frame and think I could use it for one of the square edited photos I've created. New in the package, $3. Earlier in the week, got a glass bowl set in a gold color. I have the same set in green. I have enjoyed using these bowls as decor with the chunky "fill" with all the different little botanical pieces. 50% off, $5 for both. Yarn. What can i say, greens, one of the skeins, new Debbie Bliss brand cashmere/merino.

I haven't posted much lately.... Recently I purchased some more scrubs/uniforms for work due to a change in color. I knew that a potential color change was coming, so I have resisted buying scrubs for several years. I also bought new shoes and socks for work. I bought a spool of thread to hem scrub pants. I had lots of thread, but none the right color.
Today I made a rather large purchase. I always buy used cars, and then drive them until they are close to death, usually over 175,000 miles. My current car has 135,000 miles on it and has started to act goofy. We usually have an old junker around that I can drive in case of emergency, but I don't have that option right now. I need to have reliable transportation for my job, so today I went and looked at a used car, and put a deposit on it. I will go back and pay the balance on Saturday morning. We are undecided as to what to do with my current car. We may sell it, but we may instead use it as a back-up car or swap it with DDs car, which she has expressed some interest in doing.

Hooray for having a new wardrobe ohblondie, it takes a lot of stress off trying to decide what to wear. Yay fluffychild you will have a best friend for life in that golden retriever. Ally you should be pleased with your decision-sometimes it is just time to upgrade.
I'm thinking of doing some furniture shopping. I'm a grown up I should have more then a metal bed frame and a hand me down file cabinet in my bedroom.

I bought a shredder and a dog wood tree. The shredder does the micro shred up to 12 papers at a time and is cat safe. It has a key that is needed to be inserted for it to work. So no danger of cat stepping on buttons. The dog wood tree is 8 feet and in front yard. It will have pink flowers.

Glad you got some nice summer things lucie and ohblondie! Hi TML, nice to see you. That shredder sounds fabulous. And a lovely dogwood tree. ____________ Went to a lithe community garage sale this last weekend. Some nice things there for someone who needed furniture or things like bathroom fixtures. Many new-in-box things. I only bought one thing: a lotion applicator. It is a tool with a handle and a head with little rolling balls. You put lotion either in the chambers in the screw off part, or right on the little rolling balls and then can apply lotion to hard to reach places, for me, on my back. I used to have one and wore it out with use so I was happy to find this one. New in the box, $1.50.

Saturday night I went to GW and bought a picture frame and a new in the box heater. I washed the glass in the frame and it is now in my bookcase with a new picture of dgd in it. The heater was missing the bottom stand when I took everything out of the box. The stand can be created from pvc pipe and elbows.
Sunday afternoon I bought a treadle sewing machine for the head. The cabinet and irons are in very rough shape and will be recycled. I spent most of the day getting the grunge off the head.
Yesterday I stopped at my favorite thrift store and started my Christmas shopping. I purchased a sewing box for a friend that desperately needs one. I have many extra notions that I will add to the box. I also purchased a mug with a rooster for the Egg Lady. I will fill it with candy. I also purchased a summer shorts & top pattern for dgd.

ohblondie I really miss factory outlets! I used to live not too far from a bunch of them, when I was an east-coaster. I've given myself a graduation present of an increased clothing budget, and I've been forcing myself to shop! I dislike clothes shopping in stores - for some reason it's so tiring, more so than just taking a walk or something, and I so rarely find anything I like - so I've been giving online shopping another try. It's going better - maybe because I took careful measurements and used the online Chat function a few times, to ask specific questions. Acquisitions so far include two short-sleeve cardigans, two skirts, five tops, and a dress. Also visited Clarks (I found an outlet one!) and scored a couple of pairs of shoes on a BOGO deal. My original plan was to get rid of an equivalent item for every new one, so now I'm deciding which things are leaving the closet!

Bought 4 baby chicks on my way home from work today... along with some chick starter crumbles. Where is the chicken emoji when I need it? This means that I will have to make some preparations for when they go outside in a few weeks. My babies: Attachment DeletedAttachment Deleted

Awww, baby chicks! They are so cute Ally, I hope they do well for you. Good job on your clothing acquisitions ohblondie! nifty50, it sounds like you are finding a way to shop that works for you. _____________ Yesterday acquisitions for me: A light aqua boat-neck 3/4 sleeve t-shirt. I have one exactly like it in a gold color that I got last year. They are higher quality cotton (pima) so I hope will look nicer longer. I like the boat neck style, it seems to flatter my shape. $3.99 A pair of brown corduroy pants, new-with-tag, .99 cents. Since I only recently put away my fall/winter clothes, I know that I am probably going to have to downgrade my current brown corduroys. So these new ones will go in the bin with the fall/winter things and I'll have them ready. Acquisition update: I am wearing the tank tops that I got from Old Navy, every day. They are fantastic for my purposes. I wear them as an undershirt, for modesty and to make sure I never have gap-o-sis if I'm bending over. They are very lightweight so don't seem to add too much warmth and the straps are wide enough to cover my underwear straps. I've worn the taupe cardigan a couple of times now and it is really comfortable and a good color for me. I haven't yet worn the striped t-shirts or the light peach t-shirt. I will soon enough I'm sure. I started noticing what other clothing pieces I already have that are Old Navy and it is a good handful. And I tend to wear them quite regularly. Maybe even more so than other things? Not sure on that but I will be keeping an eye on what I am actually wearing this summer especially. It's making me think that it might be a better choice for me to just buy new things from them instead of buying several items from the thrifts that may or may not be just right. I know for sure that things like shoes, coats, even sweaters would need to be purchased elsewhere. But jeans, cute tops, light cardigans, tank tops..those things seem to be okay choices. EDIT: I just remembered I have a coat that I got at VV that is an Old Navy. I have worn it constantly since I got it two years ago. I have washed it in the wash machine. It is a wool/polyester blend and the fabric seems to be holding up pretty well.

Stopped at a yard sale last Friday. I know the family and they always have beautiful kids clothes. I bought a bunch for dgd # 1 & 2, a overnight bag, a pyrex loaf pan for dd, a gallon jug for Fence Guy, a quilt & pillow shams never used, a white sheet and a pretty tin box for sewing machine accessory storage. I then stopped at another one and bought 6 really nice stemmed glasses for dd. Most of the purchases will be gone the next time I visit dd.
The sheet has a raised square pattern and doesn't look comfy for sleeping. The fabric is very heavy and I think I will cut it up and make some summer pillow covers for the couch cushions.
