My friends brought me a chocolate and a box of tea in return of walnuts. The tea is fruit infusion and will make a perfect gift for my grandfather.

I seem to have purchased quite a bit of stuff over the last few days, but at least I haven't bought anymore clothes.
- 20 velvet covered hangers - I have heard that they are slimmer than regular plastic hangers, which results in increased hanging space, which is badly needed in my closet. - dish drying mat - to help me in keeping up with the dishes. I hope I don't regret this impulse purchase. - a vintage glass pedestal bowl. I think it is very pretty. My challenge will be using it. - cosmetic organizer for the bathroom (on sale). Hmmm, I don't think this is going to make as big a difference as I hoped.

Definitely nicer than the towel I normally use. If you don't like the cosmetics organizer, if it doesn't suit your purposes, you could try making some specifically for your space and products, out of small cardboard and plastic containers.

Basically they are hangers with swing arms to hang pants on. Four pairs of paints for the space of one hanger. I like my dish drying mat but I use it under a wooden rack. The mats soak up the water after a rinse but you can't fit a lot on them. You would have to commit to doing dishes frequently. I'd love to see the pedestal bowl....I love vintage glassware.

It is good to know that your DD finds her mat to be useful. Anything that helps me keep up with the dishes is good. I will let you know how I get on.
As for the cosmetic organizer, I bought it to replace the jumble of clear plastic storage and takeout containers I currently use. If I am honest, especially as I don't wear makeup much any more, the real solution would be for me to limit the makeup that I keep on the bathroom counter. I will continue to think about the organizer - I also have it in mind as a Christmas present to someone who would appreciate it, and never buy something like this for herself.

Suggestion I looked online with daughter and they had a makeup organizer you could make.

Thanks Desiree, I am planning to use my mat next to the drainer, to extend my drying space. I nearly always have a dishcloth in this spot, so I think that the mat might help speed up the drying process for me. I am much better at washing dishes than drying and putting them away.
Thanks for the tip about multi-hangers - I saw velvet multi-hangers at the same time I purchased my new single hangers. The velvet does seem to make the clothes 'stick' to the hanger, so I am sure that this would work well for a multi-hanger.

thanks for the suggestion lostchild. I had never thought of making something like this. However this will have to wait for a while until I have the house under control.

jendela everyone I know that has bought those velvet slim hangers really likes how they work. I am temped to get some myself. I saw them at the Grocery Outlet super cheap. Currently I have a number of hangers that are vintage with crochet and knit covers. They're pretty cute. I like to color code the items to the hangers too.

I'm going to post things here that I choose to keep from S's storage locker. It's not acquisition in that I'm not going out to get things, but if I choose to add something to my own group of possessions I want to be accountable.

Hi Angela, thanks for the feedback regarding the hangers. I am hoping they will allow me to make best possible use of my limited closet space. I am planning on putting them straight into use to try and get clothes out of washing baskets.
I love the vintage hangers - I have a girlfriend who has padded satin hangers for all of her 'best' clothes - and she places a scented clothes protector on each hanger too.

Need some suggestions...yesterday I acquired fabric, sewing machine needles, bobbins, and thread in the hopes of whipping up a super simple costume for the little DS. I have not used this machine in years...and it immediately jammed when I started winding the bobbin. Now the hand wheel won't work either. I don't know what to do. Paralyzed really. I looked in the manual which was singularly unhelpful and I feel like I am wasting time trying to get the machine to work. This raises several evil mean questions:
Should I get rid of the machine? Put the effort into cleaning it now with the uncertainty of being able to fix the problem? Store it for a better time? Should I take that time to hand sew little DS costume or should I just buy one and bring in more clutter? What do I do with the newly acquired sewing items? Return them? Store them?
urgh!

Return everything you got. Get a costume or make one quickly. You can always donate costume afterwards. Get excess baggage out. Can machine be fixed quickly? If not trash.

Desiree, that's the story of my life, as far as my sewing adventures go. If I remember correctly, raising the foot might get that wheel to turn? The spool of thread might be in the wrong direction, or the bobbin wound wrong? I know this is a common problem, and I always manage to get it going eventually. Lots of swearing seems to help, if nobody can overhear you, ha ha. Or a stiff drink - just kidding! Someone here should know something more about this issue. ETA: sorry desiree, I don't know where your quote went! DUH!!!

ETA: sorry desiree, I don't know where your quote went! DUH!!! I think it is just dirty. I haven't used it in 4 years. It wasn't even threaded. I am afraid if I take it apart I won't be able to get it back together again. That drink sounds promising.
