Ohblondie, I think as long as you keep the color away from your face, you probably could wear it. I mean for example a color that looks good on you for the top half of you, the blouse part, sweater part. Then, wear yellow for a skirt, shorts, pants, leggings or a skirt with a yellow design in it. And chances are, you could wear, for example, a sweater that had some yellow flowers in the design, but near your waist. That way you could incorporate a color that you like. I don't look good in yellows or browns, but I like a brown skirt or shorts. I would say on the skirt that you're not comfy wearing, pass it on and find one that looks great. It is amazing the difference when whatever you put on looks great and feels comfortable on. That is my goal for my wardrobe!
I was upset so I went shopping today. It didn't make me feel any better or different. I pretty much only bought books. I didn't really spend all that much. I'm not disappointed with my purchases. I just am not getting the normal satisfaction of "I got new things" If anything I made out like a bandit on it, with the fine stationery (I do write actual letters), I found a wonderful book on Self Esteem from a Christian Perspective, and a book on the Thyroid, which I've already read part of and it gave me a lot of insight about my condition. My doctor is now re-adjusting my dose, and we're not there yet. So, I know that a lot of my I have a good day or two, then very moody day, is because my thyroid is still a little low. I guess I'm finding out that buying something "new" (I shopped at the thrift stores) isn't going to make me satisfied. So I think that means something. It didn't meet any emotional needs. So, maybe I am changing. I am glad I bought the books and couple other things, I'm just not satisfied.

ohblondie, trust your instincts on the skirt. There is no good reason in my opinion to keep a piece of clothing that just makes you feel uncomfortable. 1rarebeautifuldove, it sounds like you got some good information for yourself about your purchasing things for a lift. I hope you get some good perspective out of that book. I'll be interested in hearing your feedback. I hope your medication dose gets dialed in just right and you start to feel better consistently.

Ordered 2 sets of cams for my vintage zigzagger for a great price. I've been looking for those for over 10 years, but the cost was too great.

Accountabiity:
I wore the pink short pants to dinner on Monday night. I had bought them a couple of months ago and hadn't worn them yet.
I haven't bought anything but food and necessary consumables for me and critters in a good long while I think. I'd have to look back on this thread to see when I acquired last.

I got a mini-windfall and was able to repay my emergency fund the $40 I had to take out last month. With the remainder, I bought some cosmetics that I've been running short on. In fact, my skin looks rather bad because I've been skimping on the dregs of those products while I waited and waited forever for a Clinique gift-with-purchase offer to come along at one of the local department stores. Then it occurred to me to go direct to the Clinique website, and happily I found a GWP offer where you can actually select the gift products you want. How nice! Free shipping too. With every department store GWP, I always get cluttery unwanted items plus an ugly makeup bag that I have to get rid of. But this way I got to choose exactly the things I want. No extra junk. Then... well, I got sucked into more, but for only $2, whew. My online purchase came with a magazine offer... about 50 different choices, but I only chose one: Martha Stewart Living. Not bad... a year subscription for only $2.

Went to Goodwill to find a spare pair of sneakers. Found one pair for $5 and one for $4 Both pair almost new! How do YOU clean/wash/sanitize sneakers? As a teen, I used to wash my sneakers in the bathroom sink with laundry detergent and a nail brush, and let em dry in the sun. But as an adult, I've always bought them new, and just wear em til I toss em about 3 years later! Now I bought some used shoes. Part of me says, "EWWWWW" but I can 'sanitize' them, right?

I would not wash them, but spray some vinegar in them.. Some people use Lysol, I do not buy or use that. I would use Simple Green or any cleanser you have. I would use bleach in a tennis shoe if diluted a lot, you do not need much bleach to disinfect something, but you run the risk of bleaching it of course. Use a spray bottle for doing it. Some running shoes have liners that come out, so easier to clean. Set out in the sun! The sun and air are great for airing out!
I have got some great shoes on Ebay and Goodwill. I have small feet, so often many in my size! Many brand new, or worn once! I have saturated a cloth with cleaner and wiped them out.. leather. I have never had athletes foot, nail fungus or any of that, so that is my testimony to used shoes.
AND do not think buying new people wear those footies to try on shoes..!!

Thanks, misssue Yes, I was thinking about vinegar or a bleach solution. But wanted to hear others' ideas. Do you use the vinegar straight? or dilute it? Yes, I use the sun all the time for drying and airing things. I cannot live without a clothesline!

I would dilute the vinegar, it is acidic.. but half water and half vinegar. After I posted, the other thing to use is rubbing alcohol! I used that on leather and I am sure it would work on tennis or cloth interiors. Will dry fast too.

Yay, I just received my Clinique order. Can you believe that UPS delivers at 7:30pm?? I got everything exactly as I wanted, including my choices of freebies. Perfect. I'm ordering direct from Clinique from now on. Forget waiting months for Macy's GWP.

on your sneakers sue5000! Good deal there. I don't have any advice to add to misssue. I think dilute bleach, sun, etc. are adequate. I get all my shoes at the thrifts and just don't worry about it. Glad you got just what you needed in your order papermoon. I stopped at the Goodwill today, pants were 40% off. Found two pairs of corduroy jeans, one pair in a warm taupe, the other in black. I already have pairs in both colors but the taupe pair I already have is too worn for town wear so they will get downgraded to barn. The black jeans I already have are a no-wale corduroy with a slight sheen so more dressy. I wear corduroys and turtlenecks all winter. Also bought a sage green 100% wool crew neck sweater to add to the cedar chest for fall and a soft warm pink long sleeve t-shirt for the continuing warm days we're having. Last week I forgot to report that I bought a special rug making kit with frame, punch tool, latex backing (I hope it isn't dried out), and edge binding. Today, I had some craft things I carried around but put back at the end. So temptation thwarted.

The egg lady gave me 5 pairs of Capri pants that had been given to her and they were too big for her. They just fit and I had tops to match and I've been enjoying wearing them and looking a little more pulled together at home. I really didn't have enough shorts or Capris and now I do.
I also bought a plastic shoebox for a dollar and used it to corral all the paintbrushes that I have in the house. I took the to the tool shed today and added what I could find that was out there. I put the lid on and placed the box on a shelf that I had previously cleaned off. Now they are clean and dry and the mice and chipmunks can't chew on them and I KNOW WHERE THEY ARE.

sue5000.. I use the spray can of lysol and then set them in the sun. imamess..WTG!!!! New clothes and your paintbrushes clean and organized and safely containerized! Win Win! I brought back three souveniers from Indy for my parents, my aunt and my sister. I bought each of them one of the cloth reusable bags from the museum where one of my uncle's drums is on display. I bought hubby a book to help with being a landlord. My kids are getting all the freebie swag I picked up from all the vendor tables. they are each getting an insulated lunch type bag tht was the conference give away. they gave me extras. My favorite store is having their clearance sale. My daughter went to get a shirt and all of the sales ladies told her to say hi to me. I am staying away from the store. I am trying to only buy the absolute necessities. Food and dog food and the like. Dumping all extra money into the apt and paying the bills. Let's see how long this lasts

ohblondie, you know you've been shopping too much when the sales people know you by sight or by name! Another dip into Goodwill. After I had been there earlier in the week, there was a big wrap sweater that kept coming back to mind. I looked through my wardrobe and realized I would wear it all the time. So back I went and unbelievably it was still there. So, a big, gold, cable-front, wrap ruana-style belted cardigan is added to the fall and winter casual wardrobe. It should look great with my new taupe corduroy pants and the taupe boots I got last year.
