I am laughing and I know you guys will get this. I opened the sunday flyer to the grocery store down the street. THey have campbells chunky soup on sale....6 for $6. ....I wanted to go so bad.......and I did. And I came home with some pork that was on sale (extra is in the freezer already and one is out for dinner)chicken salad for lunch this week, a small salad for lunch and a diet tonic water. That was HARD!!! That snow storm mentality kicked in and I felt the need to stock up. I only have 30 cans left from my major stock up last month. Other than the food and a tank of gas and a hot coffee - I had no purchases this weekend.

I have to admit--$1.00 a can for Campbell's Chunky soup *IS* a **FABULOUS** price!!
I'd likely be buying more myself, even though I have my annual "stash" in the cupboard (12 cans).

Soup is something we always go through quickly. Maybe I will run over and grab a few cans. I wish I had coupons because the store is also tripling coupons......

Earlier this month I grabbed an amazing offer of 12 weeks of The New Yorker for only $6... 50 cents per issue! I hoped I would also receive their 2016 calendar for free. YAY! It arrived today! Now I can start another month of "don't break the chain" habit-tracking with fun stickers. Semi-apropos of Lara's SAD light box thread, here's one of the NYer calendar cartoons.......

I'm continuing on with my minimalist challenge. So far, so good. More is going out than coming in so that is Progress! Purchases over the past couple of days? Fuel for my car. DH will probably purchase some groceries while he is out today, because we are out of the things he likes to eat.
ETA: Sometime in the past couple of days I was trying to explain this minimalist challenge that I'm doing to DH. He didn't seem to understand what my goals were for this whole thing. He told me a few times that I deserve to buy some nice stuff, and that I shouldn't be depriving myself. I told him, that when I need something I will buy it. I also said that as I eliminate more stuff from the house, I will allow myself to buy new things. For example, when I get my bedroom decluttered, I plan to make some purchases and redecorate it.

I went to visit the new Dollar Tree in town. I just HAD to, it was my social duty. It opened last week and there were three customers I knew two of them.
I bought toilet bowl cleaner, a calendar for my friends daughter who is really struggling, candy for the candy dish at work and tweezers. Not very exciting. And I forgot to go to the grocery store for soup!!

I forgot to add that I bought one of those fabric drawers. THey come collapsed all flat and you open it to make the drawer. My plan is to use it in the cupboard over the sink. I have several of those plastic cups with lids and plastic straws. it is hard to store them. I try to stack them but the topple over. O am thinking I can toss them in the bin drawer and that will corral all of the pieces. the fabric drawer is lightweight and will be easy to pull down. I hope it works.

I bought 1540 pounds of cow feed in a giant sack (had to buy the sack too, but it is reusable), a black printer cartridge, 2 cans of mixed veggies and toothpaste. I also paid my nephew for wrapping my water pipes under the house.

DH fell and hurt his back a few days ago. He asked me to drive him to the store, because he doesn't feel up to driving.
He doesn't "get" why I'm doing this minimalist shopping thing. He bought lots of stuff.
I bought some large plastic planters, and some potting soil. I'm going to attempt an experiment with some sprouted potatoes that I have.

Every day I toss my spare change into a coin jar, and then every month or so I take it to a CoinStar machine and get an e-certificate of equivalent value for GAP/Old Navy. Currently ON has a 30% off sale so today I got a new T-shirt for $7, made in Bangladesh. Weird.
When I was in India in 1971, the war between Pakistan and India over Bangladesh suddenly escalated shortly after I arrived. For the rest of my 2-month stay, we had air raids and bombings near our ashram, and I didn't know if I would come out alive. So now I'm wearing a T-shirt from Bangladesh. I am imagining that it's printed in invisible ink: "Been there..."
In the spirit of 1 in/1 out, I cut up a really ugly old T-shirt (circa 1980s) for cleaning rags.

I was looking at my sprouted potatoes this afternoon and thinking about planting them, but I don't have any room in the house and it's way too early for outside.
