Hi cando It has been a busy holiday weekend for me. Well the housecleaner left and the house is starting to look like neutral. Once the movers come next week and help me move stuff around so the dining room does not look like a storage area it should look even more neutral. I used to rank the house by what I thought would be the response if someone came to the door and I let them in. We started with OMG - call hoarders tv show and worked my way through what a rotten house keeper and etc to now pretty much neutral. I would like to get the house to OMG you should be in Better Homes and Gardens or Architectural Digest (that is going to still take a while). The housecleaner cleaned the house - so it is all dusted, mopped, swept, vacuumed, and straightened up. Also trash to the curb (8 bags). I have been working on laundry and picking stuff up and putting it away. The couch table is clear except for the center piece. The kitchen table is almost clear. The kitchen bar area is still clear. Also my left nightstand is clear and dusted. I think I am about ready to start the clearing off the tops of things game. Laundry:

I MISSED YOU ALL!!!!!!!
DD made it home sfely through the snowstorm. We made it to MA on Thursday (Massachussets). It was a LONG weekend. Busy the entire time.
Culminated Sunday with a special intergenerational event I planned and ran at church.
I came home and collapsed on the sofa!
DD drove home last night and was able to take a quick nap before she had to go to school and teach this morning. She must be zonked.....
So anyway - back at it tonight.
We were unable to have a party at the house for everyone to come and see her - but looking back at the weekend - we were so busy - I don;t know when we would have done it! She is home two weeks for chirstmas - so we are talking about having an "Ugly Christmas Sweater" party on the weekend between CHristmas and New Years. Unless we have it New Years Eve.....
I did manage to keep the kitchen clean over the long weekend. Bathrooms too! Did so much cooking that the fridge is STUFFED to the gills. Hard to close the door. I won't have to shop or cook all week. We can just re-heat everything.
OK - plan of attack for tonight
COFFEE TABLE - it has become the "pile O'Crap" collecting point. If I can get that cleared off - it will make the LR look so much better.
LAUNDRY - want to run one more load of darks thru. Then I think I am caught up.
Added Plus from THanksgiving.
My aunt gave me a huge bag of material. My initial response was to say no and donate. But as my cousin and I went thru it - we came up with a terrific plan. My aunt was of the generation that when you put up wallpaper you made matching curtains. THe first pile of material was the blue and white material in her LR that we all grew up with. My cousin and I are going to take the material and make everyone a small throw pillow from the material. THat way we will all have a small rememberance of her old house - but it will be useful or functional.
The next pile was an even bigger pile from when she redid the house. It was a white background with small flowers and leaves. I am sure it is waverly or some well known name. I am using that material to make a simple curtain for the new sliding door in the kitchen. The flowers are so small and there are so many colors that the material will go with whatever color we paint the kitchen. It is also white and sheer enough that it will still allow plenty of light in. I am thinking of using some type of cafe ring (or shower curtain things) at the top so that it will slide open easily. If there is enough - and I am sure there is - I will make a simple curtain for the back door. The door leads to the mudroom - so I want that view blocked.
The last piece of material is a gorgeous piece of silk from Thailand. It is probably from the 60's or 70's. It is simple gorgeous. If I lose weight - I am making a dress. Til then - I can fold it in half lengthwise and put it on my mantal for the fall. I cannot imagine what that material would cost today. My fall bin is still in the LR (imagine that) so I will put the material in tonight.
OK - back at it
