Can I brag for a moment how good the mitred corners were on theseocnd screen I replaced? These are old frames and I had to cut the screen, secure it in place with teh spline, then attach trim to keep it all in place. The first screen was the practice screen!
I think I will attack the trim in the kitchen next. After the holidays. The door was installed in June. I think I have waited long enough.
Today I will empty another file drawer into the new file cabinet. I am taking hte time to organize all of hte files as I do this. Tonight I will wash that load of laundry and fold and put away the load at hte bottom of the stairs. That weill help clearout the jumbled entryway.
CandDO - I think in January I will start a limited cleaning service and focus on the two bathrooms and the kitchen. Then expand it as I celar out more and more.

cyn -- Thank you for explaining about the screen. I have to trim the rosebush first which involves buying something to trim it with. I'll have to look up what a "spline" is. I think that I may just ignore this problem for now, but I probably need to engage a handyman service since there are several things that need fixing, here. Hmmm. Also, a plumber to replace old corroded faucets. Did the following: med to Puppyfed dogsmade breakfast for DHChecked to see when next 2014 Estimated Tax payment is due.
Next: Laundry and some paperwork. CD

A spline is usually a thin rubber strip that sits in a groove that holds the screen in. You can buy little wheels to run along the track, to make the job super-easy. Or, if you have a puppy that shoves his body through a door screen (ahem!) you can even push them back in with a butter knife. But hiring a handyman is even better! ETA: Mitred corners! Ohblondie, you rock!

Ok, I'm very happy to report that I've fixed up the dog beds, vacuumed the kitchen, tossed a bit of garbage DH mislaid in the bathroom, have dinner defrosting, and moved some stuff around - and looked at the coats in the closet, with a few earmarked for the donations box. So basically, I've done a tiny bit in almost every room. Not bad, for a hour's worth of puttering around. Keep going, chugga chuggga!

A mitred corner is very complicated, because it's where the points are fitted perfectly together, in 45 degree angles. I cheated with my window, and had the hardware store cut the moulding in the lengths I needed, and then used caulking in the edges to make it look nicer. I'm also making mashed potatoes in a bit, to go with the chicken I'm cooking, and some veggies. I vacuumed the hallway, laundry room, and bathroom. I changed the blankets on my bed and the couch, I've got a load laundry going, I moved a table out of the hallway and onto the back porch - out of sight, out of mind, until spring - fed the animals, and used my new lint brush to take all the dog hair off the curtain I use for the coat closet. Then, after seeing how much freaking dog hair I'd been dealing with all day, I checked the dogs very carefully to make sure they haven't gone bald, ha. After dinner/clean-up, I'm going to see how much of the contents in the coat closet belong at the curb tomorrow. I can drop the donations off before a meeting Thurs. afternoon.

You deserve one too, cando! WTG getting rid of the papers on the table - that a *great* one! (I'm a table dumper) My dinner is almost ready. While waiting to get the potatoes to a boil, I decided to empty my plastic bag drawer, and just left enough for the litter chores. The rest are getting recycled tomorrow. The I tried to see how much other recycling I could make, so I got the toilet paper wrapping, and used the last scrubbie up - that cardboard packaging is in the box, I ate the last vit. C, that bottle's in the box too.

Well done cyn & cando on recycling. Following your lead, I have started a bit of paper blitz, trying to make sure I fill this week's recycle bin right to the top. Also, * general trash out * using up food in the freezer to make some space for next week * litter check, refresh cat bowls * oats soaking for tomorrow

WTG jendela! I went on a tossing spree tonight too, trying to fill up another garbage bag for tomorrow. I did good - I cleaned out 2 shelves in the kitchen, and my coat closet. Now I have 8 coats to drop off in the donations box, whoo hoo - and I have room to hang the ones I use, what a concept. I also went looking for more stashed boxes, and other misc. 'Huh, why???' items. I even cleaned my dishwasher. Blow me down! Special thanks to my coworker lizzy, who motivated me to keep going! Thank you again!

Hey cyn - 8 coats to donate!! Impressive. and great to be able to use your hanging space for the coats you wear, from the gal who has her closet full of clothes she doesn't wear/has never worn/no longer fits into. I have kept on with dish back log (3 rounds so far, nearly finished), short walk, posted card, purchased sourdough bread from local bakery, collected mail (just realised I haven't sorted it), and recycles out. Next * 4th round of dishes * retrieve mail & sort * see if I can think of a good way to deal with newspapers so they can be disposed of in a timely manner. I will need to get DH on board for this * write Christmas cards

Hey cyn - 8 coats to donate!! Impressive. and great to be able to use your hanging space for the coats you wear, from the gal who has her closet full of clothes she doesn't wear/has never worn/no longer fits into. That is soooo funny! That is absolutely hilarious, because to me that reads like a grammatical error: "from the gal" should be "AS the gal" since you're talking about me. Almost all of my wardrobe meets that criteria! I have my work uniforms in the closet (to keep the dog hair away) and all the rest is...same here....with my daily outfits in baskets on the floor, again. Hugs, I know you didn't mean to point your finger at me, but you sure hit the nail on the head! I'm laughing - I need to hear this! Good work, my work-along buddies! It's garbage/recycling day here, so that'll get done first. I need to dismantle a mouse nest, too. Yuck. I'm going to get all the really foul stuff out today. I might even unearth DH's deep fryer and toss that, if I can stomach more mouse droppings in one day...
