I am back at home, put a load of towels on to wash, unpacked things I brought home and put them away, finished the last thing that needed to be done with my christmas baking, packed some tea in tiny tins to take them with me on Christmas and now finished writing my christmas cards - will send them tomorrow. I am off to write down expences. And I got an early Christmas present today! I got for free one book I was longing for for many years (it is a 1968 edition) - someone gave it to the library and the donated books that the library does not need or want are offered to visitors there.

Wow, great score on the book! That's wonderful! It must be surprise gift day, because DH just dashed in the door with a turkey! I didn't know his work would give out turkeys, how nice is that! Yay, I hope *everyone* is having a fantastic day! Ok, enough of this procrastinating - time to get at that nest...shudder...cue creepy music...

Wow, a surprise gifts day! That is great, cyn.
I hung the towels to dry, had dinner, washed dishes, wrote down expences, deal with some papers and emails. I am glad I took two hours off today, normaly I would be on my way home right now and to think I am already here and have done all I needed... today is a good day.

Ok, that wasn't *so* bad. I'm surprised at how quickly I can get things taken care of, when I put my mind to it. This is how I am when I'm doing my paid work: chugga chugga until my shift is over. So in less than an hour, I was able to remove everything from that 3-shelf unit, wipe it down, replace keeper items (oh goody, look at all the plastic containers hidden up there - gone!) and get my 2 bags of trash & box of recycling to the curb. I see that the cupboard has a gaping hole on the back, where it should meet the wall. The bleep who owned this house before we did was The Worst Handyman Ever, and not only do the cupboards not fit properly, when he re-did the ceiling, he left big gaps around it where it meets the walls. We'd already patched most of them, but left the parts above the cabinets, because we'd have to tear them down to access the area. So the insulation is dropping down from the ceiling, and landing on the shelves. Wheee! My reward for all my efforts was to find a $75 cheque in the mailbox! Yay! Next: living room? ETA: That's great, lucie! WTG! I'm glad you have that extra time - I always like those days when I get sent home early, and do my own thing instead!

Hey cyn - 8 coats to donate!! Impressive. and great to be able to use your hanging space for the coats you wear, from the gal who has her closet full of clothes she doesn't wear/has never worn/no longer fits into. That is soooo funny! That is absolutely hilarious, because to me that reads like a grammatical error: "from the gal" should be "AS the gal" since you're talking about me. Almost all of my wardrobe meets that criteria! I have my work uniforms in the closet (to keep the dog hair away) and all the rest is...same here....with my daily outfits in baskets on the floor, again. Hugs, I know you didn't mean to point your finger at me, but you sure hit the nail on the head! I'm laughing - I need to hear this! Good work, my work-along buddies! It's garbage/recycling day here, so that'll get done first. I need to dismantle a mouse nest, too. Yuck. I'm going to get all the really foul stuff out today. I might even unearth DH's deep fryer and toss that, if I can stomach more mouse droppings in one day...
oh cyn, my apologies, I would never have said that if I had thought it could be taken as me pointing a finger at you. I am just trying to shame myself into taking some action, instead of thinking about taking action. So impressed with all the good work you are doing.

Jendela, I knew you didn't mean me! I wonder if I'd be doing any better if someone said, "Hey, lose 20 lbs. and you won't have to worry about giving those clothes away!" because I'm a few sizes larger than my wardrobe collection, atm. I'd given away all my "fat clothes" the last time I lost weight...bummer...I should know by now that I'll swing several sizes back and forth!

thanks cyn, that's a relief. I do sometimes wonder about cultural differences, and inadvertently offending someone. Yes, I know what you mean about not wanting to toss clothes because of weight changes - unfortunately mine is more likely to be going up and up. I don't think I am likely to fit into my old, favorite jeans anytime soon. Also, you inspired me to clean out the hair and gunk from the shower drain today. I have caught up with the dishes backlog, helped DH give cat a flea treatment. We have mistakenly bought 2 dozen eggs, so I need to look at using some of them in a spinach pie.

Welcome cando, and great work as per usual.
I have just done a quick petcare round. Scooped litter, refreshed cat water bowl, removed cat fur from vacuum cleaner & helped DH give cat her monthly flea treatment.
Next - spinach pie to use up excess eggs.

Good evening, I'm glad someone has been busy today, because I haven't! Well, at least not around the house--I had several dog walks today and in between them didn't do anything. I'm finally ready to do a little before I have to get ready for bed.
Cyn, I'm sorry to hear you're dealing with mice, that's hard. I feel bad for them because they're just trying to live, but I know how destructive they are and that they have to be removed or they can cause havoc.
Jendela, good work on pet care--a never ending job. Sometimes if I think I have to wash one more cat food dish I'm going to scream! I have an old, sickly kitty and feed him about 5 times a day, and I give the other cat a plate 3 times a day, so there are always several dirty plates waiting for me to wash.
Cando--good work on mom care--another big job! I would say I wished your parents could come live near you but I don't know if that would be better for you or worse.
I'm going to declutter now, I'm trying to make sure that everything is put away before bedtime.
Diane

Hi Diane, I think that paid work is just as important, if not more so, as decluttering. I am always exhausted after a day out, especially if I have been doing a lot of walking, so well done, especially as you have had all that recent stress from your radiator repairs.
I went for a short walk to collect a parcel at the post office, bought 2 Christmas cakes for presents, recycles out, oats ready for tomorrow. Now I am doing a small amount of newspaper sorting.
Oh, and I got the box of Christmas decorations down, and set up two v small trees and a couple of favorite ornaments. That will be plenty for me this year.

Another chore to cross of my list: I gave someone my two heavy bags to be taken to my sister's by car - it will make my traveling by bus much easier now. I also posted the cards I wrote last night.

Good morning everyone, Lucie, are you visiting your sister for just a couple of days for Christmas? Or are you going to be there longer? I'm glad you don't have to carry the extra bags on the bus--very hard to maneuver lots of packages on a bus.
I woke up early to take my shopping cart to the grocery store and a couple of other errands, and I'm home from that. I think today's going to be a planning and paperwork kind of day. I have mid-day work but today will be easy compared to yesterday.

Diane, I am going there on 23rd after work, as the 24th is our main Christmas day and will return home on 27th. My parents are coming there too. Her house are the biggest of ours - actually the rest of us live in flats, so it is the most convenient place to meet. Also she is 8 month pregnant and we do not want here to travel unnecesarily. Having not been for this person going that way by car, I would have to pack it differently, take a bigger backpack.

Also, you inspired me to clean out the hair and gunk from the shower drain today. Whoo hoo! Thanks for saying that, because I've gotten *so* much inspiration from all the great people here - it feels very good to pay some back. Hugs! WTG everyone, for all your accomplishments! I have a meeting at 4pm, and I'm not looking forward to it, so after my waking-up routine, I'm going to busy myself around here, to make the time fly by and distract myself.
