I had a bin of glass lamps with no shades, cups, etc to take to the dumpster and a bag of regular garbage in the truck when the ice storm hit last week. I threw another bag of garbage in the truck when I ventured out to haul water on Wednesday. Today I have another two bags of garbage to add to the pile which I will get to the dumpster after my doctor's appointment this morning. It includes 20 year old magazines I found in the camper, boxes from the mini crockpot and a collapsible water jug, junk mail from two weeks, juice bottles and who knows what else. I just don't know where all this stuff comes from.

I just don't know where all this stuff comes from. Oh my gosh, I think the same thing! I am just scratching my head. I know a goodly part of the dump run yesterday was stuff from cleaning out my friend's place, but the majority is from me!

We had kiddos birthday party three weeks ago, the pizza boxes ended up in the garage. I sent them to the party today. I also tossed out oops. Shared. Two whole pizzas because we bought too many.

Oh, imamess! That is great about tossing the lamps! I forgot I tossed a small dresser lamp (the old-fashioned, white bubble glass) into the landfill party bag last week because it had a broken globe (but I still have and use the matching lamp!!), but we're going to need more light at the party! Can you believe I hung onto it for months after pulling it broken from the box? I think I was hoping to find the broken piece, or convince myself it was okay to still use it if I positioned the broken part (small, triangular chip (about an inch wide) out of the top of the chimney), or thought maybe I would find a matching globe in one of the many second-hand or antique shops around here. Yikes! Oh, cool, and we get to take a walk down memory lane with those 20yo magazines! Woo-hoo! I love history. angela - I've been up a lot in the middle of the night, hoping to catch this stuff in the act of reproducing while we sleep. Nada. No nocturnal activities. I'm sitting here looking at ALL THIS STUFF, and wishing I had a magic wand to make most of it mean absolutely nothing to me. Di - Pizzas for the party! Good for you, Di. You're going to be really popular with the party-goers! There never is any leftover pizza around here. The kids will eat it cold for breakfast or after-school snack. Bleh. I found two more old phone books, leftover spinach from the weekend, and tons more junk mail papers that I'm bringing to the party. Oh, and my wilted Valentine's Day flowers and dried petals that have fallen off. We can sprinkle them around so it looks festive and smells pretty!

Today's contribution seems insignificant. I took out a tatty washcloth to use to wash the bottoms of chair legs so that the felt gliders that I purchased to protect the floor could adhere to wood and not the collection/buildup of dust, co-chair, and spiderwebs that were doing a lousy job of saving the floor. The cloth did it's job but acquired a hole and got significantly thinner. When I finished, I tossed the cloth into the laundry hamper. About 20 minutes later, my brain decided to function. I pulled to out and sent time to the party. Unfortunately, it may not hold together long enough to arrive. What was I think I thinking?

Pfft. No effort is insignificant, Di, even though every tiny task completed is barely a drop in the bucket. I admit to hanging onto rags and sponges until "way past their prime" isn't even visible in the rear view mirror. Why do we do this??!! I keep telling myself every little bit helps as I plod along, and stop to breathe when I find myself hoping to see the something other than the true big picture - which is what appears to have been a tornado that blew through here and mega-cluttered my house. Just keep plugging along... I keep hearing Ellen Degeneres' voice as Dory, "Just keep swimming, keep swimming..." ANYway, I don't think anybody has considered bringing supplies so we can clean up after the landfill party! What WERE we NOT thinking??!! Good on ya!!

hello! may I join in? Yesterday I filled 3 huge boxes of stuff that was all good and just in my way. I kept moving these boxes because "I could sell them in a yard sale" I decided that my personal space was worth more, loaded them into my car and dropped them off at the consignment store. Not the landfill, but still will never be in my house AGAIN and maybe some money to throw at the debt monster!

I took a big box of books to a Thrift shop!!!!
Unfortunately I returned with a big box of stuff.
The only saving grace is that most of it won't stay here.
The bad news is that I spent the morning on Ebay bidding on salt spoons to go withe the cut crystal antique salt cellars that I got to keep.
Sigh
At least my granddaughter will love the pink princess bed netting.
I think I am a Landfill Party Failure

Wow TML that is awesome! Good job. Di of course you aren't a landfill party failure. Stuff comes in, stuff goes out, if the overall trend is where we want to be then action is a success indeed. seekingpeace, well done tossing old glue sticks.

seekingpeace glad you are joining us. I'll add a dried up roll of masking tape to your glue sticks. Good work on dropping off those boxes at the consignment shop. Nice stuff, I hope it sells quickly. Di great job on getting the bedding net for your granddaughter. You are not a failure. I had a trip to the thrift store too and came home with more than I hoped for. Some things will need to go out to make room for what I brought in. Maybe this week you could get a few items out? ohblondie junk mail! I love it! That will make some very colorful paper airplanes. I'm feeling a bit playful today. TML 12 bags is awesome. We can play "king of the mountain", maybe even hide and seek. I filled one black trash bag and have another almost full. Wish it would stop snowing so I could get more things out. I mean stop, as its spring, I've had enough this year.
