Hello cando! Hi Brotspinne, I'm sorry about the problems at work, are they doing anything to fix the way orders are being sent out?
Truffle, you have a full list for today. How many hours a week do you spend on your freelance work?
I totally changed my plan for this morning, I woke up and it was very overcast, as though it was going to rain at any minute. Since I don't desperately need anything from the store (and my bank deposit can wait also) I decided to postpone my trip shopping. I'll go on Saturday or Sunday morning instead, this way I'll have a rare day at home--I only have one late afternoon walk.
I have a long list of things to do, including sending out some book orders that came yesterday--it helps to spend the time listing them, and it's great to get them out of my house and to someone who wants them. I also have a goal of eating some older foods from my pantry and fridge today, instead of always grabbing the easiest thing to eat.
I'll start with the usual morning stuff:
Make bed Scoop litter pans Wash cat food dishes PEEP sunporch and entryway

dtesposito, where do you list your books for sale? We are book hoarders and have over 3000 (although about 2/3 of them are DH's). We got rid of 400 a few years ago and you couldn't really tell. On average I work about 15 hours/week freelancing, but that can vary greatly from zero to 40. I am fully booked through December and there will be periods where I'll be working 40 hours/week. I'm mostly a freelance copywriter, but I have begun to scriptwrite and produce informational DVDs for a client as well. That's what I'll be spending the fall doing. DD does the videography for these projects and we will actually be using my house as our set. So I am very motivated to get and keep the house under control.

Good morning, I have a big list for today, DH is taking the boys camping for the weekend, and I need to make sure everything is ready for them to go this afternoon. (I need the break from the boys fighting)
Between now and 10 (2 hrs) I need to make sure that: DS2 cleans his room Both boys pack their clothes and gear for the weekend (Dirt bike riding) I need to find Two coolers Check the tire pressure in truck and camper Make sure there is an extra Jerry can in the truck.
At 10 we go to town and do the running around that needs to be done there.

Hi BWBB, so you'll have a weekend at home alone? That sounds like a great break for you.
Truffle, I sell some books on Amazon, but I have to tell you, it's not easy. First of all, they charge fees so that if your book isn't worth several dollars to start with, there's no point in selling it. I see those books listed for a few cents there--I have no idea how people do that--because the shipping fee the buyer pays barely covers the cost of shipping. So the only way those folks are making money is if they ship the books for free at their workplace, or something... Then, you have to carefully examine every book to make sure you list them at the correct condition. Then store them somewhere in order, so that you can find them if they're requested. Then package and either go to the post office to ship, or else print out online postage, which also has a fee. And, the books that sell are ones that are somewhat unusual, and in good condition.
The only reason I sell them is because I'm only working part time right now and have the time to do it--also, I desperately need even small amounts of money.
The books I just got orders for are books I'm just trading away, through a site that asks the person requesting the book to pay for the shipping. It's not a very popular site so there aren't too many members, but I can always unload some books there, and I feel like they're going to people who appreciate them. The ones I just listed were favorite books of mine, and I had a hard time just donating them somewhere, so whatever doesn't get requested this time around will finally be donated. So, no money made on these, but no money spent to send them out, either.
What kind of books do you have? Are you ready to part with a lot of them?
You know, sometimes I feel like I'm keeping up with things pretty well, then I get a lull like today when I can actually concentrate on everything, and I realize there are a lot of hidden corners that really need some work. My second bedroom, which is my book/work room, is a big mess. I'm going to try to work some more in there today.

chocolatetruffle i would love to see a pic of that vintage pyrex dish. Does it have flamingos on it or is it flamingo pink? This week was a washout for me. Too many evening meetings. Too stressed over the three major projects I am juggling...October 1st cannot come soon enough! I am happy to see everyone else keeping on track.

dtesposito, we have all genres of books. I am pretty good about weeding mine out periodically but DH mourns every book he lets go of. So I am ready to let go of HIS. He keeps saying he wants to sell them and make money - which is totally unrealistic. They are pretty much those 1¢ books you are talking about. He just thinks they are worth money because he is emotionally invested in them. I think the only folks who make much money on books are the sellers that have a system for quickly catalogueing and moving thousands of them. I think it's great that you are re-homing them, though.

ohblondie, meetings are such a time suck, aren't they? The flamingo refers to the color of the Pyrex. I will post a picture of it for you over in the By-ways forum in the vintage tablecloth thread I started yesterday. Because the two of them just go hand in hand.

Good morning ohblondie, I hope your meetings are at least productive. Will your 3 projects be over by October 1st? Truffle, this used to describe me perfectly: DH mourns every book he lets go of.And still describes me with SOME books that I let go of. I've gotten way, way better in how I view them. They used to be sacred objects of knowledge that must never be destroyed lest humankind would be the worse for it! Now, many of them are just a conveyance of an amusing story and are expendable because that amusing story is available almost anywhere. Some books are more valued because they are better written or have information that people should know about, but I no longer feel obligated to ONLY let go of them if they go to a perfect home. And a few books are--yes--still sacred objects! Why don't you have your husband gather a stack of books together and look them up on Amazon? He might see that they're only selling for a few cents and that'll tell him that that particular book is available in large quantities to anyone who needs to find a copy. That starts the mental process of looking at them more realistically. Also tell him that selling them online is very time-consuming. Diane

Diane... take your vitamin! ohblondie, I saw a picture of the flamingo pink round Pyrex baking dish by just googling it. Done: * pulled a bunch of weeds * swept up grass from last night's mowing off sidewalk and street * scraped underneath lawnmower * trimmed hedge next to sidewalk * trimmed dogwood shrub in front of house I just WENT to the city compost yesterday and now I have 2 grocery bags full and a pile of day lily stems again! * watered one of my outdoor planters that drinks water like mad * ate breakfast Next: * Stake my sunflowers that are leaning way over. * Paint the 2nd coat on the stringer by the back stairs.

I'm back from the library and mailbox--I hate this, but any time I go out, even for a little bit, when I come back I feel like it's time to sit down and rest! When I came back I started looking at a messy corner of my DR that's on my challenge list--but I just couldn't get into it, I kept thinking it's time for a rest, even though I haven't done enough to deserve a "rest". I guess I'll have lunch now and read a bit, that will be my rest, and I'll come back and figure out what to do with the afternoon.
