"... any time I go out, even for a little bit, when I come back I feel like it's time to sit down and rest!" Diane, I get like that, too. We're no longer spring chickens, I guess. How far away is the mailbox and the library? Painted the 2nd coat by the back stairs. ExH stopped over with a b'day card. Inside was $! It started raining, so I didn't go out and stake my sunflowers. Drove to the farmers' market, got 2 ears of corn and 3 tomatoes. Stopped at the grocery store AGAIN and got chocolate syrup, more ice cream, and bagels. Stopped at St. Vincent de Paul and I found a neat tablecloth for only $2.oo!! It's white and printed with Mallard ducks and cattails! Just in time for autumn! When I got out to the car, I realized I still had the ice cream in my car! I was in there an hour! I went straight home to put it away. It felt a bit soft, I hope it's ok. I think I'll go have some right now to check on it.

I hate this, but any time I go out, even for a little bit, when I come back I feel like it's time to sit down and rest! Diane, is this a physical thing or more mental? I know when I have been running errands, I just need to sit quietly for a few minutes. I don't think it's physical for me, I think it's because I'm an introvert and need to recharge. sue5000, can you post a picture of the tablecloth you got? I may be able to identify pattern/maker and give you a little history about it, if it's the mallard and cattails one I know of. So I will have to prioritize, because I don't think I will get to it all.

chocolatetruffle, that is a huge list! I hope you get most of it done. I'm sorry, I can't post a photo of it. I don't have a cell phone or a camera. I'm very low-tech. I'm lucky I have a computer and sort of know how to use it! I'm searching online for the tablecloth and will let you know if I find anything.

Sue and truffle, the mailbox and library are only about 4 blocks away, maybe a little less, so not even a mile of walking. I did NOT stop to browse around the library, since I was picking up 3 books that were being held for me AND I still have some at home. In my (pitiful) defense, I did drop 2 books off at a little library along the way.... I think it's mental--I did something, then it's time to take a break. Maybe I don't mean rest, maybe I mean "break". Anyway, after lunch I started in on the corner of my DR that I wanted to declutter for the challenge. It involves putting away books I'm keeping in the correct boxes, and while I'm doing that, I'm happy to find that I'm deciding on some books to get rid of also. In my attempt for "1 in, 1 out", if I try to put a book in a box that's already full, I'm making myself take one out. But, I'm actually finding some to get rid of in boxes that are not full, so I will have lots to add to my book tally post, if I ever manage to get back to that and report on the last few months. I'm now taking another "break" so I can sit down for a while, before I tackle the next several boxes. It would be great to get that part of the project done before I leave for my one walk in 2 hours! Diane

Truffle, you did an amazing amount of work today! Including bug patrol! Sue, when I read your post I thought you said you got a card with $1 in it! I thought--hmm, I hope your ex is very poor, otherwise he was being sarcastic. Is today your birthday? ? Diane

Why don't you have your husband gather a stack of books together and look them up on Amazon? He might see that they're only selling for a few cents and that'll tell him that that particular book is available in large quantities to anyone who needs to find a copy. That starts the mental process of looking at them more realistically. Also tell him that selling them online is very time-consuming. Diane, what a great idea! He really does have a peculiar blind spot - if he's buying something used he grumbles that it should cost far less (even when it's reasonably priced for a used item). But if he's selling something used he's convinced it is worth a lot of money.

sue5000, you scored big!!! The manufacturer is Wilendur, the pattern is Wild Ducks. In good condition, it will easily go for $50 or more on ebay. Wilendur was one of the most popular and prolific tablecloth manufacturers mid-century. With the name spelled as it is here, I can date your tablecloth to between 1938 and 1958. If there is an "e" on the end of it (Wilendure) it was made later. These tablecloths were made with a heavy sailcloth, which is why they are still around today in such good condition. Nice find! Congrats!

Wow Sue, you can make a profit from your tablecloth!
I haven't finished this part of the project, but I've finished the part that involves boxes in that corner of the room that I wanted to neaten up. I'll work some more on this tonight when I get back.

Sorry ladies I have a tendency to wander off for days at a time. Good evening everyone. I'm just getting my day started. A nap attacked me a bit ago so trying to wake up. The kiddos are off on a 3 day adventure with their grandparents. So ! Though I'm a bit sad I won't be there for their first "beach/ ocean experience". But I'm already getting sent alot of pictures. Time to get outside before I lose the sun. Edit: I am so tired of adding "find this" and "Look for that" to my lists! Nothing has a home and making a home for things just doesn't compute with me. You did great today truffle! Dreadedknock, there was a discussion on this site recently about putting temporary signs up to remind yourself of where things go. Yes, it will look a little odd, but if you can't find anything you probably have a lot of visual clutter anyway. Plus, the signs are only up til your mind learns where things are. So, the next thing that you "find", decide where that kind of item should go and put a sign on the box, or drawer, or cabinet where you're putting it. Eventually you'll start to remember where things live. Enjoy your time to work without the kids being at home. I came back from my walk, and continued to work on the book project in the corner. I managed to finish putting away all of my fiction books, I found around 50 books I can get rid of and I straightened up some of the leaning boxes that looked really weird. I should probably be getting ready for bed now, but I'd like to work for another half hour on the series books that I need to get out of a basket in the DR. That's part of my decluttering challenge too. After that I'll get ready for bed. Diane

Hello thedreadedknock Good luck with that long list! chocolatetruffle, the tag says Wilendur. The tag is frayed on the bottom. The tablecloth itself is very clean and in excellent condition... but I think someone altered it. It's hemmed on 3 sides, not only 2. And it measures 38" by 42". It JUST fits my table. Oh well. I still love it!
