Thank you phoenixcat. They can be quite entertaining. Before, when they were in the other room they'd almost freeze even when I walked by their door, so I never saw them do anything. I don't know if they are doing more now, or I am just seeing them do more, but I think I would have heard them before. They seem much more lively now. But they can still be noisy at times. Last PM they started loudly calling out to a siren going by - which is difficult, I'm on a fire route.

I slept better, but I am still feeling a bit listless this AM. I'm also rather achy all over - from the exercise? (I've been doing newer ones) Today's tasks are dusting and washing clothes. There are still many things out of place, mainly related to the closet switch I was dong last week. But they look very messy. I need to work on that too. Wed Aug 3/ 16 Today is my newest paperwork day - so I am not quite sure where this will take me yet, but heaven knows, I have a LOT of paperwork that I can deal with! My diet/ exercise plan that I started 2 days ago is not working for me. Eating too much, exercising too little - or so it looks on paper. I think I need to do 2 miles a day to lose the weight - and Jessica has some miles that focus on upper and lower and abs and that's what I need to do. I'm not sure yet where today will lead: ME: Weigh and record Exercise - mile 1 - mile 2 with some body area focus abs Shower, dress, makeup Log meals into MyFitnessPal Read Bible Time reading outside DAILY: Circle tour (tidy) Catch up dishes Wipe down kitchen counters, sink, stove top Make bed Empty drainage pail from ac unit Bird care Vac around bird cage Bathroom swish and swipe Toss garbage Declutter some emails EVERY OTHER DAY: Water plants CATCH UP: Wash up bird dishes ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ WEDNESDAY'S TASKS: Paperwork - clean out purse - gather all loose papers - sort file toss - pay bills - not needed - download bank statement - update budget book - update Quicken - start working on a budget - if time, start going through a tote of paper and sort - shred anything needing it - put away any papers by end of day LEFTOVER from Tuesday Laundry - clothes - put away Water plants FINISH UP SOMETIME: - bring up items I left in locker while away - put away - drop off donations ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ CHALLENGE FOR WEEK: AUGUST - PROJECTS Week 1 - Aug 1-6 - Zone 1 - LR, entrance, coat closet, balcony, locker, car - change to navy knickknacks - fix clock? - car wash - sort out locker? - visit cemetery ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ADDED: At 7:20 this AM my friend B texted me that she has to come downtown tomorrow AM, could she drop by. I slept badly, was awake during the night, then when I fell back asleep I slept in (for me.) I have no clue what time B is coming today, but I know she worked until 10:30 last PM, so I'm hoping she isn't too early. I didn't vac around the LR DR yesterday, so it needs that touch up, plus might boil some eggs. Hopefully I can get in 1 exercise before I have to shower. Friday August 5/16 We are expecting another very hot day today, with possible thunderstorms later on. I'm not sure what I will be doing. Apt looks pretty good. I guess I may have to finally work on some dreaded paperwork. I also need to cook something to eat for the next few days - or not. I might wait until it's cooler, and just nuke a frozen dinner. I'd like to go out to the cemetery possibly tomorrow, but I will wait and see how the weather will be. An hour each way with no ac in my car in this weather would be horrible. Plus going out will entail 2 other stops beforehand. However I guess I will look into the locker part of my trip today. ME: Weigh and record Exercise - mile 1 - mile 2 - try to make mile workouts include exercises for other areas 1 was upper body, 1 was abs ADD: did a 10 minute exercise on balance Shower, dress, makeup Log meals into MyFitnessPal Read Bible Time reading outside (evening or early AM only) DAILY: Circle tour (tidy) Catch up dishes Wipe down kitchen counters, sink, stove top Make bed Empty drainage pail from ac unit Bird care Vac around bird cage Bathroom swish and swipe Toss garbage Declutter some emails EVERY OTHER DAY: Clean bird cage Water plants ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ FRIDAY'S TASKS: Paperwork - clean out purse - gather all loose papers - sort file toss - pay bills - not needed - download bank statement - update budget book - update Quicken - start working on a budget - if time, start going through a tote of paper and sort - shred anything needing it - put away any papers by end of day FINISH UP SOMETIME: - bring up items I left in locker while away - put away - drop off donations ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ CHALLENGE FOR WEEK: AUGUST - PROJECTS Week 1 - Aug 1-6 - Zone 1 - LR, entrance, coat closet, balcony, locker, car - change to navy knickknacks - got them out and washed them - fix clock? - got it out, wiped it down - car wash - sort out locker? - next (fallish) headstone saddle is at front of locker, waiting for when I go to the cemetery - visit cemetery

Sat Aug 6/16 I slept very badly last night. I don't know why I decided to have an after-dinner coffee - but it did me in. So I will probably keep a low profile today. They've cancelled our city's heat warning, so I guess that means it will be more bearable today. Today's tasks involve the back of the apt (yes I think I am starting front/ back again), mainly focusing on scrubbing and mopping - in other words the bathroom. I also need to finish up this week's challenge in the LR area. So, on with the show: ME: Weigh and record Exercise - mile 1 - mile 2 - found a JS routine for apple shaped body with a 4 wk schedule. I did part of the 1st Sat routine on Waistline work instead - a really tough one on the abs! - try to make mile workouts include exercises for other areas in AM I did 'flat abs' in my mile Shower, dress, makeup Log meals into MyFitnessPal Read Bible Time reading outside (evening or early AM only) DAILY: Circle tour (tidy) Catch up dishes Wipe down kitchen counters, sink, stove top Make bed Empty drainage pail from ac unit Bird care Vac around bird cage Toss garbage Declutter some emails EVERY OTHER DAY: Clean bird cage See if any plants need water watered some ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SATURDAY'S TASKS: BACK OF APT. - BEDROOM, SPARE ROOM, BATHROOM, AND HALL SCRUB and MOP: - scrub bathroom sink and counter - scrub tub and surround - scrub toilet - vacuum bathroom floor - mop bathroom floor - restock - change towels FINISH UP SOMETIME: - put away items I left in locker while away - drop off donations ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ CHALLENGE FOR WEEK: AUGUST - PROJECTS Week 1 - Aug 1-6 - Zone 1 - LR, entrance, coat closet, balcony, locker, car - change to navy knickknacks - fix clock? - car wash? - visit cemetery? ************************** After sleeping so badly, and then my 1st mile exercise, I barely had any remaining energy. I got nothing more done, other than the bird cage. But some times you just need a day to do nothing, so I am not going to feel badly about it.

Sunday Aug 7/ 16 As per above post, I got nothing done yesterday except rest. I don't know what to expect today. I had considered going out to the cemetery, early, but that would have required 2 errands yesterday that didn't happen. Then my ds emailed me yesterday AM, as they were on their way out of town, inviting me over there today around noon. After seeing the distance they would have driven, plus knowing he drove a distance the day before, I'm not sure he'd feel like having company. I replied as such, giving them an out, for a few days, if they needed it. So I will see if he replies. I'm still not feeling really energetic myself. Sunday is normally my rest day, pamper day anyway, so I will see how that goes. I also try to do a MEGA-tidy, and it's my rest day for exercise. And I plan my week, planning my next zone challenge. I'm going to eliminate the tasks from yesterday, and start fresh on the weekly stuff, and I will finish up any zone stuff that I'm in the middle of. And because I don't know what today entails, plus I'm still not feeling very energetic, I don't yet realistically know what I can do. The list: ME: Weigh and record Exercise - rest day walked 1 mile outside Shower, dress, makeup Log meals into MyFitnessPal Read Bible Time reading outside (evening or early AM only) DAILY: Circle tour (tidy) Catch up dishes Wipe down kitchen counters, sink, stove top Make bed changed sheets Empty drainage pail from ac unit Bird care Vac around bird cage Toss garbage Declutter some emails EVERY OTHER DAY: Clean bird cage Water plants ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SUNDAY'S TASKS: MEGA-TIDY - LR and entrance - DR - Kitchen - Bedroom - Spare room - Bathroom - Hall BALCONY - Deadhead plants - Sweep if needed PAMPER ME - trim nails - polish finger nails - foot care - change bed linens FINISH UP SOMETIME: - put away items I left in locker while away - drop off donations ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ CHALLENGE FOR WEEK: AUGUST - PROJECTS Week 2 - Aug 7-13 - Zone 2 - Kitchen, DR, ensuite storage closet - change out china in china cabinet to Blue Willow - re-organize food storage now that I am vegetarian - in kitchen cabinets - in pantry area of storage closet - recover seat of 1 DR chair - find new home for GWTW lamp (baby proof!) LEFTOVER: Week 1 - Aug 1-6 - Zone 1 - LR, entrance, coat closet, balcony, locker, car - change to navy knickknacks - fix clock? - car wash? - visit cemetery? ADDED: Moved portable ac unit, that vents out window from bedroom to spare room, which involved moving several things around. Ds also cancelled our visit - they were way too tired, and baby's schedule had been really messed up and he was cranky and teething. Ds appreciated the chance to cancel and we'll get together soon.

Mon Aug 8/16 Yesterday I moved the portable (window-vented) ac unit from the bedroom to the spare room. Part was to see if the bedroom in-wall ac unit was really working or not, and to also be able to just open that window on cooler nights. It worked really well in the spare room, so now that room will be more usable, and I can work on future paper sorting projects in there in comfort. The bedroom ac unit still works. Not sure how much, but it did cool the room some and I slept well. On Sat. I had a really bad smell in my kitchen. I initially thought it was from the dishes I had left from the day before, but I didn't understand why - and then it kept getting worse. And of course, then I discovered that the culprit was a bag of rotting potatoes. That just has to be the worst smell! I double bagged it and tossed it and rinsed out, then soaked, the plastic bin I had had the potatoes sitting in, but that plus lack of sleep really did me in for the day. The problem really is that I buy too many groceries at a time. I then have a tough time using them all up, both in them going bad, and also feeling like I need to eat this, even though the calories might be too high. The solution is to go out more often and buy less each time. Which is related to another problem - I really hate going out. So buying less and needing to go out more frequently should also help my self-induced isolation. (I don't like not doing anything - but then I get too comfortable at home and don't want to go out.) All that to say that I again changed my weekly routine to include 2 'out of house' days. So 2 days cleaning the back of the apt, 2 the front, and Wed and Sat as grocery and errand days. So on to today. It will be a front of apt day. Cleaning above the floor. I am also (I hope) going to try to do this 4 week 'Apple Shape Workout Plan' (Jessica Smith) starting today. I previewed a few of the recommended videos, and the HIIT one seems really intense, and stuff I don't think I can do yet, so I may have to modify those days for a bit, but we will see how this all goes, but my new exercise regime will focus on that instead of miles. (I still might use a mile video as my cardio work, I will see.) (She has many videos to chose from) So let's get today started. The list: ME: Weigh and record Exercise - Apple Shape Workout Plan Wk 1 Day 1 - The Apple Shape Workout ADD: 1 mile routine Shower, dress, makeup Log meals into MyFitnessPal Read Bible Time reading outside (evening or early AM only) DAILY: Circle tour (tidy) Catch up dishes Wipe down kitchen counters, sink, stove top Make bed Empty drainage pail from ac unit Bird care Vac around bird cage Toss garbage Declutter some emails EVERY OTHER DAY: Clean bird cage Water plants ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ MONDAY'S TASKS: Front of Apt, Day 1 - empty stick vacs - catch up all dishes - tidy LR DR entrance and kitchen - scrub kitchen sink - scrub kitchen counters, stove top - check fridge, wipe up as needed - clean microwave if needed - damp dust desk, food scale - windex LR DR entrance - dust LR DR entrance From SUNDAY: PAMPER ME - trim nails - polish finger nails - foot care FINISH UP SOMETIME: - drop off donations ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ CHALLENGE FOR WEEK: AUGUST - PROJECTS Week 2 - Aug 7-13 - Zone 2 - Kitchen, DR, ensuite storage closet - change out china in china cabinet to Blue Willow - re-organize food storage now that I am vegetarian - in kitchen cabinets - in pantry area of storage closet - recover seat of 1 DR chair - find new home for GWTW lamp (baby proof!) ADD: put away dishes currently in china cabinet ADD: remove crystal on first 2 shelves of china cabinet ADD: wash crystal ADD: wash down 2 glass shelves china cabinet ADD: return crystal to china cabinet ADD: remove Blue Willow dishes from kitchen cupboard and wash LEFTOVER: Week 1 - Aug 1-6 - Zone 1 - LR, entrance, coat closet, balcony, locker, car - fix clock? - car wash? - visit cemetery?

Tues Aug 9/ 16 Another day. Slept fairly well except up too early. My bedroom felt comfortable, only using the window fan (sits in window and blows in air) last PM, which I could not use with the ac vented out of that window. So that was a good move, I think. Yesterday I went to change the china in my china cabinet, and then realized that I probably should clean out the inside of it first. And that lead to also removing the crystal, in order to wash the glass shelves - and so I washed up the crystal as well. I had reservations doing this - because this month is projects, not deep cleaning. However - I recalled something I read, I think in an Apartment Therapy post, where there was an upcoming cleaning challenge - and they said that you could probably clean inside something or outside something - you decide! For me that was a mind-changer. For me it had never been a choice - it was all or nothing. And that is where my alternating projects and deep cleaning decision stemmed from. In reality my projects are sorting, rearranging - and sometimes cleaning the insides of things - drawers, cabinets, totes, closets. Then the deep cleaning is the outsides and surroundings. So cleaning the inside of the china cabinet IS part of this process. (Projects also includes any decorating changes as well as completing actual projects.) So today I need to finish up the china cabinet. Or this part of it. The bottom shelf contains a lot of crystal platters and bowls etc, but they may be left for another month. And if I work on my food storage, this also may not be the month to recover the DR chairs - although I would like them done by Christmas at the latest - this is a project that I have been wanting to complete for years. Anyway, on to today. Today I work on the back of the apt., above the floor. The list: ME: Weigh and record Exercise - Apple Shape Workout Plan Wk 1 Day 2 - figure out what to do instead of the prescribed 30 min. intense HIIT cardio routine, that seems way above my level at this point. Did 10 min flat abs walk Did 20 min full body fat burn Shower, dress, makeup Log meals into MyFitnessPal Read Bible Time reading outside (evening or early AM only) DAILY: Circle tour (tidy) Catch up dishes Wipe down kitchen counters, sink, stove top Make bed Empty drainage pail from ac unit not needed Bird care Vac around bird cage Toss garbage Declutter some emails EVERY OTHER DAY: Clean bird cage Water plants ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ TUESDAY'S TASKS: Back of Apt - tidy bedroom, spare room, hall - tidy bathroom - scrub sink and counter - scrub bathtub - scrub toilet - restock - change towels - windex mirror - dust bedroom, spare room, hall LAUNDRY - wash linens - sheets and towels ADD - wash lights - dry - put away LISTS - start working on errand and grocery lists for Wed. Wednesday Aug 10/16 Yesterday my plans for the china cabinet changed. Since Wed is grocery and errand day, I decided instead to work on the food storage areas first. Things are tidied now, and I see I only need fresh produce. I have lots of items, I just need to figure out how I want to combine them. I removed all soups etc containing meat, and bagged them up for ds. A few things had expired. Some times it's good to just remove everything you have and put it all back, and see exactly what is there. Plus it makes putting new things away easier. So today I only need a few groceries, but I can do several errands. I just hope it's not too hot out - but I know it will be. Reports say that we might now be in the biggest heat wave of the summer. Ugh. I will see once I return home, if I have any energy to do any of the projects today. Taking dishes out of a top cupboard is too risky if I am already tired. I'd like to get out fairly early, before it gets super-hot, so some dailies might be delayed until I return. The list: ME: Weigh and record Exercise: Apple Shape Workout Plan Wk 1 Day 3 - The Apple Shape Workout Shower, dress, makeup Log meals into MyFitnessPal Read Bible Time reading outside (evening or early AM only) DAILY: Circle tour (tidy) Catch up dishes Wipe down kitchen counters, sink, stove top Make bed Empty drainage pail from ac unit Bird care Vac around bird cage Toss garbage Declutter some emails EVERY OTHER DAY: Clean bird cage Water plants ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ WEDNESDAY'S TASKS: Groceries Errands - bank - gas - Canadian Tire - Staples - their parking lot was torn up and barricaded off from street I was on - Dollar Store? - drop off donations - car wash? just too darn hot to be out 1 minute more than I had to ADD: Walmart got everything else I needed in 1 stop Bring purchases up Put purchases away From TUESDAY: Back of Apt: Bathroom: - restock - change towels - windex mirror LAUNDRY Launder lights - put away From SUNDAY: PAMPER ME - trim nails - polish finger nails - foot care FINISH UP SOMETIME: - drop off donations finally! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ CHALLENGE FOR WEEK: AUGUST - PROJECTS Week 2 - Aug 7-13 - Zone 2 - Kitchen, DR, ensuite storage closet - remove Blue Willow dishes from kitchen cupboard and wash - put Blue Willow in china cabinet - recover seat of 1 DR chair - find new home for GWTW lamp (baby proof!) LEFTOVER: Week 1 - Aug 1-6 - Zone 1 - LR, entrance, coat closet, balcony, locker, car - fix clock? - car wash? - visit cemetery? ********************************** Too hot to do anything else. I came home drained. I had gone out before dailies were done, so even some of them didn't get tended to.

Thurs Aug 11/ 16 This heat is really draining - and is going to continue into the weekend. My balcony plants are wilting, and I have to water them daily. Also trying to exercise in this heat is hard, but I push myself to do it. Anything else done each day is a bonus. I didn't even get some of the dailies done yesterday. Maybe I need to start doing some between coffees 1 and 2 in the morning. I am still waivering (when don't I?) between doing a chore each day, an area each day or a room each day. Right now I am returning to a room, plus an activity each day. Today is the spare room, and paperwork. Plus I need to get back to working on my weekly challenge. The list: ME: Weigh and record Exercise: Apple Shape Workout Plan Wk 1 Day 4 - 21 min Flat Belly Fusion (whatever that is) ADD: walk 1 mile outdoors Shower, dress, makeup Log meals into MyFitnessPal Read Bible Time reading outside (evening or early AM only) DAILY: Circle tour (tidy) Catch up dishes Wipe down kitchen counters, sink, stove top Make bed Empty drainage pail from ac unit Bird care Vac around bird cage Toss garbage Declutter some emails Water plants TWICE A WEEK: Clean bird cage ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ THURSDAY'S TASKS: Spare Room - tidy - move printer - put away paper supplies purchased Wed - look at moving ironing board - look at moving totes of papers, tapes, from bedroom - set up lamp with lower wattage bulb - look at moving shredder back into room - dust - vac Paperwork - pay bills - record in Quicken - record in Budget book From TUESDAY: Back of Apt: Bathroom: - restock LAUNDRY Launder lights - put away From SUNDAY: PAMPER ME - trim nails - polish finger nails - foot care ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ CHALLENGE FOR WEEK: AUGUST - PROJECTS Week 2 - Aug 7-13 - Zone 2 - Kitchen, DR, ensuite storage closet - remove Blue Willow dishes from kitchen cupboard and wash - put Blue Willow in china cabinet - recover seat of 1 DR chair - find new home for GWTW lamp (baby proof!) preparing space LEFTOVER: Week 1 - Aug 1-6 - Zone 1 - LR, entrance, coat closet, balcony, locker, car - fix clock? - car wash? - visit cemetery?

Fri Aug 12/16 Wow Friday already and I really haven't done a thing this week, other than stay home and 1 day of errands - just too hot! And today will probably be no better. We did have a heavy rain, for only a little bit yesterday, but it didn't cool down any and stayed muggy out. I was prompted yesterday to go out walking early - I went at 7 AM and it felt nice but I could feel the heat getting worse around 7:15. Today I work on the bedroom. The list: ME: Weigh and record Exercise: Apple Shape Workout Plan Wk 1 Day 5 - The Apple Shape Workout ADD - 1 mile flat abs workout Shower, dress, makeup Log meals into MyFitnessPal Read Bible Time reading outside (evening or early AM only) DAILY: Circle tour (tidy) Catch up dishes Wipe down kitchen counters, sink, stove top Make bed Empty drainage pail from ac unit Bird care Vac around bird cage Toss garbage Declutter some emails Water plants TWICE A WEEK: Clean bird cage ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ FRIDAY'S TASKS: Bedroom and Hall: - tidy - dust - vac Laundry - sort - 2 loads? - wash - dry - put away From THURSDAY'S TASKS: Spare Room - set up lamp with lower wattage bulb - look at moving shredder back into room Paperwork - update Quicken From SUNDAY: PAMPER ME - trim nails - polish finger nails - foot care ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ CHALLENGE FOR WEEK: AUGUST - PROJECTS Week 2 - Aug 7-13 - Zone 2 - Kitchen, DR, ensuite storage closet - put Blue Willow in china cabinet - recover seat of 1 DR chair - find new home for GWTW lamp (baby proof!) preparing space LEFTOVER: Week 1 - Aug 1-6 - Zone 1 - LR, entrance, coat closet, balcony, locker, car - fix clock? - car wash? - visit cemetery

Ds emailed me yesterday. I'm invited over for a visit this afternoon. Later I previewed the routine for today on the Apple Shape Workout - cardio using a ball. I was tired watching - and I looked and it was only 10 minutes of the 30 past, and I thought Jessica was going to die at the 20 minute mark, so I am pretty sure I won't make it through it all, but I will try. It works out to about once a week, so I imagine each week I will get a bit further. It does look like a really good routine, I just don't think I have that stamina yet, but it will be good to work towards. But I won't even try it until after I come back from ds' so I don't go there exhausted. And whatever I don't get done I will try to make up in a walking routine, but we'll see. I might be too exhausted to try anything else. Oh, I just realized that I need to do the Waistline Work today too, so I probably won't try that mile. Maybe I can do that 1 in the morning. The other thing I want to do is move some furniture around. The 1st is to put that portable ac unit back in my bedroom. I also want to move my bedroom desk over to the wall between the closet and my bed, and move that night stand over to the window wall(?). Move the pilates machine some where. This is so I can move the GWTW lamp onto that bedroom desk, without having the desk area bothered by the ac unit and the window use - so it will be safer on the other side of my bed. And can I put the Pilates in the spare room? Lots of movement - if i'ts not too hot - but I want that desk moved before I move the ac unit back in. Today should be Bathroom Day. The list: ME: Weigh and record Exercise: Apple Shape Workout Plan Wk 1 Day 6 - Cardio Ball Blast (30 min) - turned out I was way too tired to even attempt this, or a 1 mile walk - Waistline Work (20 min) Shower, dress, makeup Log meals into MyFitnessPal Read Bible Time reading outside (evening or early AM only) weather was way too humid to sit out, even at 8 PM DAILY: Circle tour (tidy) Catch up dishes Wipe down kitchen counters, sink, stove top Make bed Empty drainage pail from ac unit Bird care Vac around bird cage Toss garbage Declutter some emails Water plants TWICE A WEEK: Clean bird cage ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SATURDAY: Visit ds in afternoon SATURDAY'S TASKS: Bathroom: - tidy - scrub sink and counter - scrub tub - scrub toilet inside and out - vac - wash floor ADD: GROCERIES: - write list - shop - bring up from car - put away From FRIDAY'S TASKS: Bedroom and Hall: - vac Laundry - put away 1 load From THURSDAY'S TASKS: Spare Room - set up lamp with lower wattage bulb - look at moving shredder back into room Paperwork - update Quicken EXTRA: - move bedroom desk - move night table - move Pilates machine - move portable ac unit (and bucket) back into bedroom - move anything that needs moving in spare bedroom ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ CHALLENGE FOR WEEK: AUGUST - PROJECTS Week 2 - Aug 7-13 - Zone 2 - Kitchen, DR, ensuite storage closet - recover seat of 1 DR chair - find new home for GWTW lamp (baby proof!) preparing space space prepared in bedroom LEFTOVER: Week 1 - Aug 1-6 - Zone 1 - LR, entrance, coat closet, balcony, locker, car - fix clock? - car wash? - visit cemetery ********************************* After visiting ds and family - nice visit - I stopped at a nearby store and got a few groceries, mainly fresh fruit and veggies. Boy was it humid out - almost knocked you flat when you went outside. Once I got home and everything brought up from the car, I was totally beat. I had my usual snack - but had no energy. Had an early supper, still no energy. At 1 point (around 7:30, 8 PM) I tried to sit out on the balcony to read, and the air was so dense it was really unpleasant, so I came back in. I was so tired that I knew more exercise - especially the cardio blast - would be pointless, but I didn't even have the energy to do my favourite mile. I wanted to tidy up - I thought maybe I could do 1 thing in each room, but couldn't muster the energy. I was also snacking here and there trying to feel better, until I discovered I was over calories. So I had my 'comforting' bowl of cereal (more calories) and just went to bed. ****************************** I keep feeling like I should be doing dishes in the PM, instead of leaving them all until the AM. However, as I thought more about it, I realized that if I had a late supper, then tried to get the plants watered, fit in my exercising, plus sit outside and do some relaxing reading, or some times go for a walk, that takes up most of my evening. Plus I am feeling too tired to do dishes anyway. Then I wondered what my benefit - or trade off - would be if I did them at night vs morning. Do dishes at night and I'd probably lose my relaxing time outside. If I did them at night, could the time I saved in the morning go to the same activity? - no. In the morning its too sunny and hot outside to sit out comfortably. So it would only give me 'empty time' to fill in with something else, probably chore related. Not a good enough trade-off in my opinion to warrant expending the extra energy at night. So I think I devised a compromise. I will try to stack dishes, and put some in the sink to soak, so starting to wash them in the AM will be easier. I can reassess this in the winter, when I won't want to sit outside in the evenings.

Sunday August 14, 2016 I like Sundays. It's a day for new beginnings for me. New week, new goals, new projects. As I posted at the bottom of yesterday's post, yesterday was a lost cause for me after I returned home from ds'. I'm sure most was related to this horrendous humidity we are having. It makes you not want to do anything. I never got the 2nd part of my exercising done - well really the 1st part, because I knew it'd be difficult so I left it until after I came back from ds' and then I never got back to it, just no energy. I did do the 2nd part early though, the Waistline Workout. Today, Day 7 of the Apple Shape Workout Plan - is an 'active rest' day. But I also see that once every week they do the Cardio Ball, and the Waistline Work on the same day. The waistline work is a floor routine - mainly on strengthening the abs and back, using many yoga and Pilates type moves. And wow - when I was done I felt like jelly in my abs, and my legs and arms. It took me a while to get active after I finished it - but it did feel good. But for me it makes sense to do that on the Day 7 rest day each week, instead of doing 1 or the other on Day 6 and not both. For today I will finish the Day 6 routines. Also, due to many not fully completed tasks this week, I have little messes in pretty much every room. (I often do) So that is what the MEGA-tidy for Sundays is all about. I also like to make sure everything is out of the fridge early, and down the garbage chute. The supers usually put out 2 bins every Sunday, for Mon pick-up. I'm not sure if 1 is the bin currently collecting chute contents, but I do see them putting the bins out often before noon Sun, so I'd like my stuff to be in a pick-up bin and hopefully not sit inside until the next pick-up. I slept very poorly. I was up way too early, then managed to fall asleep while reading blogs. Now that I am up again - having a 3rd coffee, I still don't feel really awake. Today I also start a new zone area. I am still working in projects, and this week it's the spare room, which also holds my paperwork, and books, and tapes etc. I have several really overdue form things I need to get out of the way. I'd like to get 2-3 of them done this week. I really procrastinate on paperwork - and this was a big part in setting up this zone work this way - into 1 month projects, 1 month deep cleaning. I decided last week that projects includes any 'work' INside areas. Areas like totes, closets, drawers, and I will extend to book shelves. The inside things. Then when I get to the deep cleaning, that is the OUTside things and surfaces. I always had trouble figuring how much to do on any given room, because I always felt like I needed to do both, and this seems like a good compromise. Sometimes I have to hold myself back from trying to do it all again, but knowing that I can deep clean next month - and then get back to projects the month after, I know I don't have to do it all at once. It's relieving! The list: ME: Weigh and record Exercise: Apple Shape Workout Plan Wk 1 Day 7 ('active rest day') - Cardio Ball Blast (30 min) - from Day 6 I managed to get through all 30 minutes! Mon Aug 15/16 I slept pretty well last PM. Between sleep and naps I wonder if I have caught up on the poor sleep I had been having. I see today is another cardio day (different routine) but I'm not sure I can do it back to back with yesterday's. Normally yesterday would have been a rest day. On looking over the sheet I see there is a lot of cardio this week. Alternating with the Apple Shape workout. I'm not sure which exercise to do yet, but if I change it I may really mess up the whole week, and it will get very confusing, so I may just stick to the cardio and do the best I can. I have been trying to make some black bean veggie burgers. I got all of the extra ingredients I needed on Sat. I was too tired after exercising yesterday to put them together. So I need to do that today, before I exercise so that I will have something to eat for supper. Today's room to clean is the kitchen. The list: ME: Weigh and record Exercise: Apple Shape Workout Plan Wk 2 Day 1 - Supposed to be HIIT Cardio and Core, which seemed too intense for me when I previewed it last week. My substitute is Cardio Mat Fusion #1 (30 min) got through 23 minutes - my abs hurt too much to go any further - shoulder and leg raises from floor (Maybe I could have if they weren't hurting from yesterday's) Shower, dress, makeup Log meals into MyFitnessPal Read Bible Time reading outside (evening or early AM only, weather permitting) cant believe the cool evening air after all that heat DAILY: Circle tour (tidy) Catch up dishes Wipe down kitchen counters, sink, stove top Make bed Empty drainage pail from ac unit Bird care Vac around bird cage Toss garbage Declutter some emails Water plants PM - soak some dishes for morning wash up TWICE A WEEK (Tues and Fri): Clean bird cage ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ MONDAY'S TASKS: Kitchen - catch up dishes - tidy - scrub sink, counters - scrub stove top - wipe down microwave - vac - mop floor ADD: make black bean veggie burgers From SUNDAY'S TASKS: MEGA-tidy - by room: LR and DR - sort, toss loose papers ? Finish up any unfinished projects: - move portable ac unit to bedroom? - move (again) totes and side table in spare room - make sure totes are accessible for this week's project work - move GWTW lamp to bedroom? PAMPER ME: - clip nails - foot care - bubble bath? ADD: polish nails From SATURDAY'S TASKS: Bathroom: - scrub sink and counter - scrub tub - scrub toilet inside and out - vac - wash floor From THURSDAY'S TASKS: Spare Room - set up lamp with lower wattage bulb - look at moving shredder back into room from kitchen Paperwork - update Quicken ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ CHALLENGE FOR WEEK: AUGUST - PROJECTS Week 3 - Aug 14-20 - Zone 3 - Spare Room, Papers, Books, Tapes - tidy up books in book shelves - put aside books to donate - overdue paper project O researched and printed out what I need - overdue paper project H - errand re project H - overdue paper project T - maybe overdue errand project B - maybe overdue errand project TL - maybe overdue paper project L - start tossing tapes - sort out drawer contents in vanity LEFTOVER: Week 1 - Aug 1-6 - Zone 1 - LR, entrance, coat closet, balcony, locker, car - fix clock? - car wash? - visit cemetery ****************************** Shortly after I posted this AM, my laptop 'said' I only had 7% power remaining, even though it was plugged in. I discovered part of the power cord was coming apart. I contacted ds, who had a spare cord in my brand, and said he'd bring it over after work. I seem to have a horrible time, when someone is going to occupy part of my day, of not doing anything else that day. Today I tried to not let that happen, but I did limit what I would do when. And I didn't get some things out - or do somethings until after he was gone. But as it turned out, he didn't come up. He called and asked me to meet him down at my front door in 5 minutes, and he just pulled up in his car, and handed me the cord. My place could have been a total disaster and he wouldn't have known. I need to be able to judge better how much I will let other people stop me from carrying out my initial plans. I still got a fair bit done, but it would have been nice if I had kept working on my paperwork project. After he left I still had to exercise, cool down and then get supper, and by then I was too tired to think to do more.
