It all went a bit wrong this week and I've not managed to get much done at home. Not only have I not made progress, but I've failed to defend some of the spaces that were looking better before. I have new rubbish piled on my settee, and there are a few things out on my kitchen work-top (along with an overloaded sink). My lovely crabapple jelly to be, got left out for far too many days without being boiled up with the sugar, so when I've gone to look at it today, I've found little flecks of mould on it. So that's now been chucked.
I have a lot of stuff I need to get done today, including a bit of a mad-panic swoosh around the whole house - I think it's going to involve me just throwing things into bags and then stashing them somewhere, then having a quick vacuum around. Not ideal.
Anyway...
Done: Collected parcel from Post Office and bought supplies for upcoming event Put load of laundry on
To do (initially): Hang laundry Put another load of laundry on Put away previous washing up Do new load washing up Mad pick up in dining room

Done: Second load of washing hung About 80% done with living room pick-up - pretty unbelievable what I have managed in an hour when I have been staring at the mess for months and months (helps that I had cleared the washing up backlog)
To Do: Finish living room pick up Vacuum living room Bottle shrubs Pick up in dining room Pick up and quick sweep of stairs/landing Pick up in bedroom Organising for upcoming event Find Fitbit charger and charge Fitbit
I have about an hour and then I have to get ready to go out for the evening. Will aim to do another couple of hours before bed, but then I'll not be able to do anything for another week. Hence the mad-panic nature of today (and not the "man-panic" as I mis-typed earlier!!!)

Just spent over an hour going through 'good stuff' I've been saving for a yard sale. But at this moment, I'm leaning towards just donating it. I enjoy giving yard sales and interacting with the people. But I don't think I'd make enough $$ to make all the time worthwhile. 90% of the stuff holds little emotional charge, just $ value.
So for now, most of it is going into the charity pile. Some I will save in order to be able to give most of it away.

Just spend another 2 hours or so cleaning and tossing 'stuff' from a large rack in a back room. Very productive. Also re-arranging the keepers.
Part of the tossing is going to be emptying another 3 dozen or so jars of canned stuff from prehistoric times. These are now at the sink.

BetsyMarie , I'm more of a messy just-leave-it-where-it-lands person than a hoarder. However, I still find it very hard to throw food away, even when it is clearly no longer any good. I have various things stashed away that I tried, didn't like, and kept anyway because throwing it out would be wasteful. But of course, if I never use it, then that's not much good either. So I applaud you for emptying your cans, even more so if it's food you canned yourself. One thing that has helped me be more ruthless with food was moving to an area where I can recycle all food waste via a weekly collection - cooked, raw, eggshells, dairy... it can all go in my green bin and be of some use. So when I cleared my kitchen and pulled my long-neglected bags of flour out of the pantry to bake with, only to find them infested with flour beetles, it was a lot easier to dump that flour in my green bin than it would have been to throw it in the rubbish. Done: Bottled shrubs Living room pick up pretty much done (few scattered items left) Most of dining room pick up done (lots of piles and overfilled boxes around the edges of the room, but the middle is close to being clear - more like organised chaos than the post-tornado scene it was before) Made hummus for my tea and put bowl etc in sink afterwards Cleared lots of the mess in my hallway and stairs Gathered enough of my old shed hair from the carpets to make a wig for someone This pick up day has resulted in lots of bags of "stuff" needing to be sorted properly lately, but at least it has made the house seem a little more presentable. It's a shame I don't have tomorrow to continue, but I won't have time for more than a quick swish round tomorrow. After midnight now, so time to stop.

It's now Sunday morning. The clocks have gone back (end of British Summer Time) so it doesn't feel like too much of a wrench to have woken up at 7am. I now have 3 hours to get a huge amount of stuff done (or as much of it as possible).
Done: Woke up at reasonable time Had a shower Put heating on to finish drying clothes I want to wear today
To Do: Get dressed Organising for upcoming event - priority number one Finish pick-up of dining room and somehow make remaining piles/boxes look a little neater Put last lot of washing up away Wash up things in sink Put out compost Put out rubbish Finish pick-up on stairs Quick pick-up in bedroom Get out the door in less than three hours
Eek!

You have been busy, Minerva, hope you enjoy the event that caused the panic! Today: Unload dishwasher Begin to gather at least 50 items for donation. (one in, one out has not been happening of late). I think I can accomplish this with shoes and cookbook purge. I have far too many and I really only use fewer than 6 pairs on a consistent basis. I will keep one or two dressy shoes, but the rest should be released. Get ready for spin class.
