Done: Made a maintenance list of daily/weekly/monthly etc. tasks. It's a bit intimidating, but I'm trying to remember it's just something to aim for, and even if I only manage it 50% of the time, I'll still be in a much better condition than I was before. Opened curtains Put headphones to charge
To Do: Clear stairs/landing Clear dining room floor Make bed

Minerva, I hope your voile is still up! I haven't posted in a couple of days due to a long day at work on Thursday, and shopping excursion after work, due to our new dress code/uniform at work. (They are changing our color, and we are no longer allowed to wear fleece.) Wasted some time checking facebook and other stuff. ta-da's: loaded the dishwasher prepared a healthy breakfast (veggie scramble) and ate it to-do: Make some tea or something else warm to drink, take supplements Laundry? Tidy up kitchen Lost more... It's overcast and some "wintery mix" is falling from the sky. I want to go out for a walk later, but will check the weather forecast to determine the best time.

Have just realised that my living room no longer qualifies as even first degree squalor. It's not quite zero degrees (I can see the dust under my settee from here) but I would have absolutely no qualms about someone coming in and seeing it like this.

You know, I'm not sure I believe in/agree with the ideas about zero/first/second degree squalor. Some stuff being dusty isn't any sort of squalor. It's just kinda dusty. Same with stuff being simply messy. Messy isn't squalorous, either. It's just messy.

Done: Sorted bags/coats Continued tidying dining room Scrubbed a pair of hiking boots that have been filthy since a walk just over two years ago (turns out that just continuing to wear them didn't magically make them clean again!)
To Do: Vacuum corner where shoes are going to go Clean dust/cobwebs outside of some shoes Polish shoes

Done: Vacuum shoe corner Polished two pairs of shoes that really needed it Wiped over other shoes
Chose shoes that are out of season (a pair of sandals) or rarely worn (running shoes, my lone pair of heels) to be put away elsewhere in the house. Selected one particularly grubby, faded pair that should really be thrown away and have put them into bin bag. I don't have a lot of hoarding tendencies (my squalor is due to other things) but getting rid of clothes/shoes when I can see potential uses for them is difficult. For example, all the very holey t-shirts that would be good if I needed to paint something. And these shoes, which are really comfy, but pretty disgusting. Piled shoes that I will keep downstairs neatly in corner of dining room.
To Do: Actually throw disgusting shoes away Take shoes for storage upstairs Continue tidying dining room

Minerva, Wow! You are getting a lot done! I've not been making good use of my time! ta-da's: Continued sourdough experiment that I started last November. I have managed to keep the starter alive all of this time. Usually I add a little pinch of dry yeast when I go to make my pizza crust, because I haven't been confident that my starter is stong enough, but this time I am trying w/o. We'll see what happens. Started a load of laundry Moved laundry to the dryer Made some french toast for lunch. A few other odds and ends, including moving stuff around in the dishwasher, and ordering a few scrubs online. (That store I was at yesterday was expensive, and didn't have much selection in my size, that I liked.) I just checked the forecast map, and it appears that the snow/rain showers predicted for early afternoon have passed to the north of us, which means I should be able to go for a walk w/o getting wet. to-do: Unload the dryer, hang things up, put them away Go for a walk Work on taxes? I have been procrastinating...

Ally, I'm just trying to get as much done as possible this weekend as I'm back in work on Monday. You seem to have got a good amount done so far today. I just started working on a new sourdough starter this week. I had a very successful one a few years ago, but neglected it when my kitchen was always too dirty to even think about baking.
Done: Did some initial tending to of the plants I bought yesterday - mostly unclipping them from the trellises they came with and cutting off most of the fruit/straggly branches - they look pretty in the shop, but they have been allowed to fruit far too much for their size. Still, I felt like a scissor-wielding plant destroyer while cutting them back. They still need repotting, but I can get that done in the next couple of weeks. Sorted treat box. Continued to clear out dining room.
To Do: Finish decluttering dining room (pretending the pantry is an entirely separate room for now) Decide where plants are going to go (though they may have to wait until I have some saucers to put them on as I don't want to wreck my window ledges) Quick vacuum of dining room

To Do: Move into kitchen Clear kitchen worktops and wipe down Vacuum then mop kitchen floor (hmm, better have my tea first)

Done: Went to start cleaning kitchen, but realised I had aubergine that needed cooking. So I have made a aubergine/chickpea/tomato/ricotta bake. Cooking in the oven now and not as calorific as I had feared when I ran it through my calorie counter. Washed out tomato/chickpea tins and put into recycling. Put away cheese/veg/aquafaba in fridge (I have yet to try using aquafaba as an egg replacement, but it's on my list of things to do one day, in the meantime it's very tasty added to pasta sauces)
To Do: To be honest, it's half eight in the evening and I think I'm about done for the day. I will eat some aubergine bake, but I'm unlikely to do more cleaning unless I get a second wind.

I'm not on top of my game today. I only slept about 3 hours last night, and it's making me sluggish. I did make squash casserole (I'm not all that impressed with the recipe I tried) and have the pan soaking. todo: -laundry -wipe down stovetop -not sure...maybe finally do the spice decluttering I've been procrastinating. Or wipe down a few interior cabinet doors. If I'm feeling ambitious, I'll do the aluminum foil trick to the rust on the chrome in the kitchen. I need to fix the couch cover, too, as well as clear the living room side table. But that would involve dishes, and the drying rack will be full for the foreseeable future. Maybe I'll just wander around and randomly do things I see that need being done. .
