I ran An errand tonight instead of tomorrow night. I needed yarn to go with that crochet hook that I was on a hunt for earlier.
So I am all set for my crochet group at church on Saturday.
DD is doing ok hunkering down for the hurricane. Rain and some wind. She said the wind is starting to whistle. She checks in to keep me sane!
Ok. Time for bed......

Thanks ohblondie and Diane DD had another good day at school! I just made it to work on time today. I’d like to be a bit early to set a good example for some chronically late team members! ohblondie I think I’d need lots of donuts to quiet them!! work was ok. At lunch I dropped off donations Worked a little late Came home DD not want dinner right away so I scavenged for some protein food for me. Signed some school forms. Went to library as DD had to print something for school. Gotta fix our home printer situation Went to buy a few school supplies-we waited until classes started this year before we just bought the list. Think I’ll end up saving $$$ Ended up buying some take out for DD Took out trash and recycling to curb Did dishes Basement tasks 3 out if five - took three large items to curb Next Do two more tasks in basement, however tiny Then round up cats Bed!

Diane - I bought two large skeins, one is a variegated blue (light to dark) and one is variegated in the camouflage colors (green tan black) Eventually I hope to graduate to making stripes so I will buy different colors. I figured the variegated ones might hide any beginners mistakes! Today I schlepped out the box to go to DD along with a random sweatshirt, random shirt, English muffins and a bag of rice. All things I am uncovering as I excavate! magda....while I was at the big box store last night - I looked for a couple of bins. It appears they are changing colors and styles AGAIN!!!! OK - big meeting in an hour - I had better start preparing

Good morning ohblondie! Now I want to go look at yarn colors. On the rare occasion I get to go someplace like Michael's, I love seeing the whole wall of different yarns, even though I don't crochet anymore.
I'm eating breakfast and thinking about my decluttering projects. I thought about trying to go to the far away grocery store today because they have a good sale, but I just don't feel like going. I don't desperately need anything, and would rather use my energy to make some progress here. The weather is still pleasant, it won't get hot again until Tuesday.

Good morning ohblondie and Diane! Friday We are getting back to our school routine. DD wants to buy her lunch so I am packing just a. lunch for me now. Need to put money in her lunch account. Up Fed cats. Girlcat is eating her supplement for joint health! Put away dishes Drove dd to school Got fully ready for work Made bed Played with boycat - he was in a wild mood, running from room to room Off to work Arrived just the right amount of early Had meeting first thing with chaos person. (Boss ) Was moved a half hour because boss was late Then was moved to next week because other attendees could not attend new time Then read request to attend an “ urgent” meeting later on new topic this will mean rapid fast work that probably could have been planned for weeks ago. Not to be too cynical but nearly all of our emergencies result from lack of plannning. Sigh Have a scary meeting in one hour. Will be glad when that is done. Work is stressful today. I did do my two tiny basement things last night. Moved two tote stacks. The left side of the basement is done. Now I will start my five things in the right side

magda.....I feel your pain. last night my supervisor texted my co-supervisor that she as going to be late. (texted him not me) She was going to be late so that she could go to an estate sale. We had a 10am conference call. So I ran the conference call - no biggie. She comes in late. tries to take over the call but I would not let her. As we were winding up the last items on the agenda she gets up and walks over to me (I had the main conference phone in front of me) and inserts herself between me and the woman sitting next to me - and takes over the call. Never in my life have I been so rudely treated - and she is just oblivious to everything. The conference phone has several little "speakers" running out from it and one was right in front of her so she had no need to move. She just needed to assert her (perceived) authority. Oh I wanted to scream - I still do. I have no idea what to do with this except whine here...... She just walked over to be - she is leaving to get her marriage certificate (she can walk across the street to do it but she has to drive to another county - no idea why) She cancelled our 1pm meeting so she obviously plans on taking a two hour lunch... Silent Screams.........

Ohblondie, just keep telling yourself she'll be gone soon. Or, you could have said during the conference call when she came in "OH, GLAD YOU FINALLY MADE IT IN, HOW WAS THE ESTATE SALE? But then you might have been fired, which wouldn't have been worth the moment of satisfaction.

I've been working on the cabinet in the 2nd BR, I decided to get rid of a whole cabinet/shelving thing sitting on a dresser in there--that will give me plenty of room for my second light. I just posted in swampy's challenge thread that I'm surprised at how much I'm getting rid of in exchange for getting the light. Maybe I SHOULD be planning to get more birds now--if I can give up things for plants, I could really give up things for more birds! I'm going to have to make another trip out to the dumpsters soon, before the recycling one gets filled. And that reminds me, I have to email the board and ask if the pickup schedule is the same. By the way, I did put out the metal cabinet yesterday before I could change my mind, I haven't been out to see if it's gone but I'm guessing it will be. I started a load of laundry earlier, and just moved it to the dryer. I will stop now for lunch and a reading break. Diane

Good afternoon! Diane your comeback made me chuckle. Wouldn't it be cool if the supervisEEs could provide references as well?
I had a good day yesterday. I liked my new (temp?) pdoc, built my social currency and did some more of that this morning. recorded two videos, an intro and a teaching one. Good practice. I am ignoring that group for some more hours, so it doesn't suck up any more work time.
Today I want to get the bulk of my packing done for my trip. A tall order, but possible. I need to get to it!

Good luck with packing, scholar, think how relieved you'll feel when it's time to leave on your trip and you're not rushing around at the last minute!
I have gotten myself into a huge project, which will make a huge mess, but in the end it will be worth it, I hope. In trying to get rid of the cabinet thing in the plant room, I needed somewhere to put the things I recently put on top of it, which are the emergency bird cage, and a plant in a large pot. I decided to look at another of the storage things that are piled on top of the metal file cabinets. (I got rid of one this past summer.) Well, the top one was just full of more shipping supplies--used padded envelopes for reusing to send books, bubble wrap, etc.
So, I got rid of most of those, and managed to get the thing down without injuring myself or anything else in the room. Now I'm thinking I can use this storage thing (it's the white cube kind with a door on hinges) in the bedroom on the dresser to hold books, rather than having them in file boxes like they are now. It would look so much neater and save space, and I could use the opportunity to go through and maybe get rid of a few more books, even though these have been looked at recently. I did put it in the bedroom, which is now crowded again because I added the chair from the plant room too.
And, there is now space for the cage and plant in a place where I can reach them.
Anyway, there was a lot of dust on top of that cabinet and again, my head and face both hurt from the sinus irritation. I never think of the dust until it flies into the air and I feel it entering my lungs.
I also had to empty off the work table so I had a place to put the storage thing on while bringing it down, so now I'll put the stuff back on the table, and dust off the storage cube.
As I was moving the cube to the bedroom I was thinking "I hope I live long enough to get to the end of this decluttering." I know we say it's never totally done, and it isn't--but at some point I'd like to get to where I feel like I have only a reasonable amount of stuff in here. I have said before and I know it's true--that the only way I can do this is in layers--each time I go through stuff, more of it goes. But sometimes it feels like it's taking FOREVER.
