Good morning Lennon and all to follow.
Since I am up at the crazy (for me) hour of 6:30 a.m. I may as well be the second to post. I was up at the same hour on Thursday waiting for the roofers and they couldn't start due to weather and at the same time yesterday when they did start. So 3 days in a row of *how can I drag my leaden body* out of bed when I didn't fall asleep until well after 3:00 a.m.
The roofers arrived at 6:45 a.m. do their prep work, start the real work and scrape and bang away until 6:00 p.m. It was very impressive to watch. They had to tarp the house from the second floor roof in the back to the ground and the first floor roof in the front to the ground. The house is colonial style with all the dormers in the front. It was like an eclipse and an earthquake all day. I got nothing worthwhile done yesterday; today I will.

Good morning danny and TML!
Lennon, thanks for starting the thread!
Danny, it never occurred to me that roofers would tarp the whole house--so it's dark inside all day? Weird! How are the cats taking the noise?
TML, you're posting early too--does that mean this is going to be a super productive day for all of us?
My sleep was better last night. The forecast shows today and tomorrow with a high of 50 and then averaging mid-60 for several days next week. Still rainy days in there so I don't know if the handyman will come back this soon--I actually hope not--the week after would be ideal.
Today I have to declutter the house as a first priority--now that I'm more used to having it decluttered, the mess is really bothering me--who would have thought?

Hi TML and Diane
Diane, I thought they would just cover bushes but they attach the tarps somehow so they are kind of like a slide. What can't be tossed far out into the yard is slid down the tarps so the shingles land in front of the bushes. Then there are others gathering the debris and tossing it into dumpsters. Yesterday crew was 18 guys. The tarps don't make the house completely dark inside; not like needing lights dark. Just like a very cloudy day. But the tarps were a pretty shade of blue so it was kind of cool to have a bit of blue light coming in.
I was worried about the kitties and thought about boarding them but that would be too traumatic also. We ended up shutting them in the basement bathroom which is fairly spacious. I kept going in to check on them. At one point they had all curled up in one bed. Two of the cats are litter mate sisters and the third is like their sister since they all came here at the same time. Josie is a bit of a porker so it was too cute to see them all squished together. Surprisingly they seemed fine. I'm sure having each other was a big comfort. Later DD2 went in and read to them for an hour (she used to do that with the dogs every night) and repeated that several times.
I am doing paperwork and some work on the computer today. Yesterday I mostly played games on the computer out of stress and checking on the work again and again. I also need to get the fridge under control. I am still over buying fresh food. Veggies need to be washed and cut up and fruit washed. I pay bills twice a month, the first time on the 8th, but I think I will do that a couple days early.

hello - I hope everyone has a good weekend. quiet morning so far. all animals fed and watered. played a little fetch with puppy. boycat was rambunctious and hissed at girlcat then went outside and ran dramatically across the lawn and half climbed a tree. hunting energy! he is no asleep on his fav chair in the dining room.
I have been so focused on my trip that everything else was pushed aside and now I have to do taxes! I made the decision earlier to wait until after the trip. so this weekend I will start. what is really holding me back is that I have to submit a correction for last year's and I am not sure how to do it so it is a road block. I will get started on that today. I also will do DD taxes as they are simple and she is busy at school. then I will do my 2023 taxes.
I also need to do housework this weekend. The living room looks so much better from pick up and vac yesterday. I will dust in there. need to mop kitchen floor more vac more laundry
need to pay bills for this pay period. I have realized I need to slow down my debt payoff. I need to build an emergency fund. i have been paying as much as possible on my debt but that can leave me in a tight spot in which I then need to charge something. I think each pay period I will put two sums away -- one to pay the yearly taxes and one to save for emergency
while on my trip, I used my debit card for nearly all of our personal expenses but did charge DD air and our portion of the hotel bill and the rental car. will focus on getting those paid off.
I also think I'll be a little less frugal which sounds counterintuitive. but i have been so frugal as a single mom that I miss out on some cheap joys. like a really good smoothie every now and then, not every day, but every now and then can just be a little bit of happy w/out sending me to the poor house.

Ugh danny, 18 workers? At least they were not IN your house, but still, that would feel like an army out there. Did they give you an estimate of how long it would take?
Bree, little purchases can be big mood lifters, as long as they don't keep increasing in number. Otherwise you feel like you're working hard and not getting any reward for it, even though your money does pay for your basic expenses.
I will include PEEPing in each of my lists and start at the west end of each floor and move eastward. I do have a phone call this afternoon so I will try to stay on my feet more this morning, then I will be tired and ready to sit down and rest during the call.
TO DO:
Call decluttering client 10 minutes PEEPing 2nd floor
Start dishes soaking Delete 10 hard emails

Good morning TT!
You probably don't want the weekdays to end because you were off work!
Even this morning's decluttering phone call was longer than usual. I'm destined to spend a lot of time on the phone.
Next I'm going to go out to the yard for half an hour to cut down branches. When I come back in I will start a load of laundry that is waiting.

hi everypony!
today I got up when I woke up early (6:30) and have been enjoying a bit of me time. Worked on my current doll dressing project. Now its time to get going and I am ready to go back to sleep.
bree that makes sense! my nutritionist is advocating for me to do the same around my food rules.
DONE: made coffee updated log updated monthly auto pay spreadsheet
checked online balances checked email checked calendar checked notifications took meds
Last night we made a list of morning errands, but so far DVD is still in bed. I am really annoyed by how messy my office is--I only have 48 sq ft so it doesn't take much out of place before I get overwhelmed.
NEXT UP: what to wear? shower hair face
dress boot laundry do dishes eat something collect donations
pack look up transplanting calla lilies
ERRANDS: DPs'
estate sales yard sales drop donations farmer's market gym
HOME: paper processing prep dinner pack to DMIL's to watch launch (an experiment to see if it is visible from there) (unless it is too overcast)

Good morning (or fternoon) Diane. I find it so interesting that you have decluttering clients. I wish I had someone that would just come sit with me while I declutter. Is that strange? I don’t want anyone to do any of the work … but just want someone present.

I wish I had someone that would just come sit with me while I declutter. Is that strange? I don’t want anyone to do any of the work … but just want someone present. This is a thing recommended by decluttering experts. They call it body doubling, even if the person is just sitting there. I'm with you. I occasionally get this kind of help from my daughter. I don't know why it works. For me I think it's a sort of gentle accountability that helps maintain my focus, and also helps me feel not so alone.

Good afternoon scholar and golden!
TT, I only have one decluttering client, and I didn't seek her out, she's a friend of mine who started discussing decluttering with me and then wanted to pay me to help her be accountable both with her home and her work-at-home job. When I lived near her I did go to her apartment several times, but mainly it's talking on the phone--she swears that talking things out with me helps her.
I think having someone over not only helps you work for a longer period of time--after all, the person is there for a purpose so you have to work for whatever period of time you planned--but also having a person watching what you're doing kind of makes you see things through their eyes even if they're not making decisions for you. It's easier to see your distorted thinking when you picture how someone else would react to it.
I stayed in the yard for a whole hour--the sun is out but it's still a little chilly, so perfect weather for working. I cut up a lot of branches and also cleared an area between two beds at the far end of the yard--I think I will have to pile the additional branches there because they won't all be gone for a while, and when the handyman comes he will need to work in the places where the branches are piled up. I also got to say hello to the next door dog.
I'm going to do one more list before lunch.
Next:
10 minutes PEEPing first floor west to east 10 minutes cutting down cardboard Look for shower curtain that seems to have disappeared Delete 10 hard emails
