Good Morning everyone!
I had a rough and ragged night's sleep so today might be a grouchy day. I will forge ahead nonetheless
I have so so many reusable grocery bags and so many piles of things to "go somewhere". I am going to line up bags, label where each bag is headed, and fill them up. stuff for the baby/baby shower is getting boxed and those boxes stacked i was sorting through the stuff my son left behind, but that will now be boxed as well
but first this cup of coffee

Good morning ohblondie! Yay, a "getting things out of the house" project!
Thanks for starting the thread, lennon!
I fell asleep so early last night, and got a total of 8 hours, with only a few short wakeups, so I should feel great! I do actually feel good, nothing in particular hurts, just the usual overall arthritis twinges--I thought it would be worse after the lifting I did yesterday. It's cold out today, so I don't know how much I can do outside--the current temp is 38 with a "feels like" of 31. I think it's only going up to 50. I would at least like to pull some of the plants out of the big pile of dirt that the handyman consolidated in the middle of the cement slab, and put them in my outside compost enclosure.
My other goal is to work on the fridge, which is still waiting.
Golden, I read your post in the weekday thread about having a patch of ground with motor oil in it--ugh, I don't think that would be fixable without excavating the entire thing! I guess I should be grateful to find only gravel, at least I can try to strain it out.
I know what you mean about squash plants. They really want their space, and yours, too!
That is a perfect description!

Diane - not sure if you can access this video . I thought of it when you were talking about the slab and parking gravel, etc. Wouldn't this be cool for a neighborhood project with shared alley?

Phoenixcat, what a nice idea, although I would have loved to see more photos of what the alley looked like before. My first thought was, who put all those bricks down? But it sounds like they were there already, just full of weeds. Their garbage pickup must be in the front street, like it is here. Or maybe it's a small enough town that they have to take it to a collection point themselves.
When I went to the pollinator guy's house the first year to buy my original 8 plants, I couldn't understand his alley--it was a regular alley with garages on both sides, but the alley was grass. All of it, all the way down--and it pretty much looked like a lawn, not like anyone actually drove on it--no ruts in the middle or gravel or even flattened down grass! I didn't get a chance to ask him about it though because he was talking nonstop about how to do pollinator gardening, etc. I've never seen an alley that looked like a lawn before.

Good morning weekend warriors I've mostly been dealing with health issues and family stuff and neglecting household things. I hope to stay in today and plug along gently and steadily.
The past couple days DD1 and I spent some time at a nearby nursery. Oh, I have greatly missed buying beautiful flowering plants, both potted and to put in the ground! In 3 trips so far we have chosen 8 hanging plants, mostly with petunias and bacopa and some phlox for the ground. I had my eye on some gorgeous fuchsia also and will go back for some of those. Right now it is still too cold for the petunias at night so we have to bring them in the house. We actually only use 4 hanging plants for the porch of the pool house. For the others I will take the hangers off and we set the whole pot inside planters that raise them higher so the bacopa can trail over the sides. Some will line the brick stairs going up to the front door. DD1 is doing a lot of the lifting which is such a huge help! Today all the babies will just sit on the deck for a good watering and lots of sun.
DD1 has always loved organizing so she has been going thru old toys in the basement and sorting. Little, tiny things she is putting into zip lock baggies. When she thinks she has enough collections together we will donate someplace.
The other major thing for me today (besides the plant care) is to get back on top of food. I have been shoving things in the fridge and leaving pantry stuff on the floor. It is such a drag to be too tired to put things away after being out.
Before the lawn care people came to do the spring clean-up I was outside as long as my knees would take it gathering tiny hemlock pinecones. Pots and pots of them. We had a huge crop of them this past winter. They are great for decorating little Christmas things. Like making tiny trees and wreaths. They are about the size of a fingernail. So stinking cute!! Sometimes I keep some in the car and truck to give to people like the girls at the plant nursery. They love them!
Sun is coming out so time to get busy.

Diane, the other night I was outside on my front steps waiting to be picked up by some friends. I have a miniature weeping cherry tree and the bees were happily buzzing around. There were many of them. It made me think of you!
I am sitting with my dad waiting for his lunch to be delivered. Then off to help with a craft at my mom's

Hi danny!
Ohblondie, I looked up that tree--how nice that you have something blooming so early in the year, there's not much else ready for the bees now!
I went outside for 20 minutes, it's chilly! And I moved the laundry to the dryer.
I will stop now for lunch, I expect another long phone call this afternoon but not for another couple of hours, maybe I can still get some things done after eating.

I went out to the yard again, it's a bit warmer now, I spent 45 minutes out there--I tried to get some of the plants out of the dirt pile but many of them are still rooted to the concrete and it's going to be too hard to get them out with just a trowel. So I spent the rest of the time cutting down more branches, the yard waste can is now 75% full.
I'm going to work on my seedlings until my phone call.

I did have a very long phone call, then I went to the basement to get my dry laundry and prepared some garbage and recycling to take out next time I go. I'm making some veggies for dinner now.
Maybe I will have another early night, I was getting very sleepy while on my phone call!

hi everypony!
big day out
yard sales, thrift store event, then an Earth day celebrations. I talked to a lot of people about how I can contribute my facilitation/teaching skills. finally found a match! It was kind of like speed dating. also got info about solar panels, etc.
then we went out to a newish tiki place we have wanted to check out. took pictures, talked about how we might adapt some ideas. very expensive, but its my birthday Monday.
home and crashed.
then I started to look at a painting exercise I started. got embroiled in working on it. in my new dress, while the painting aprons I bought languished unpacked.
tomorrow I am theoretically going to work with art teacher. I'll see how my energy is. the house needs attention!!!
