Today I went through nine (yes, nine!) plastic drawer bins in my hall closet. I tossed one large and one small trash bag full of stuff that I no longer need/use, things that were too old and worn out, etc. None of it was something the thrift store would have wanted. I've got a bin in my bedroom that I want to go through, then it will be moved to the hall closet, now that there is room for it! WooHoo!
Great job, everybody!

*Awesome* amount of stuff getting gone ~ WTG everyone! 1rarebeautifuldove I use shepherd's hooks for my bird feeders (usually used for planters) because I don't have any trees in the right location for bird watching either. Today my B was barnacle: the crazy crap that's attached itself to my shelving on the porch. WTH is all that stuff?! Boxes of screws, a bird feeder, a reel & wire for hanging laundry, plant pots, tons of tools, a tie out for puppy...none of it's truly trash, but it doesn't have to be all scrambled up and shoved onto the shelving. I want to put my houseplants out there when it warms up. I did manage to toss 2 pairs of old gardening gloves, and recycled some little plastic pots. Slowly organizing and donating as I go...

I went through the 4 plastic drawers in the upstairs doom room closet. I didn't release any possession but reorganizing them helped to to put away several things that were hanging around.
I have 7 boxes here in the upstairs Doom Room. That's down from 15 this time last year.
I think I am finally ready to get into them again. Last year I tried but there is a lot of potent paper in a couple of these and I just wasn't up to the task.
I know two of the boxes hold craft supplies, one holds books, the others, I don't know.
Oh forgot one more trapped under an empty file box.
This is my project for now until something else takes my attention.

angela You're doing great! Good luck with those papers. I had a bad bin moment today. I was mentally rearranging the furniture on the porch, and struggling about where to pile my 24 bins. It took me a while to remember that I'm supposed to be *emptying* them!

I managed to remove half on one bedroom pile this morning. Does that count? My bedroom piles are about to drive me crazy.

cyn great job on dealing with the barnacles! What a great term! I have some of that too. imamess piles count! I see them as potential binnage. I count each pile as a bins worth. Great work! angela great job on reducing that box total by more than half! Good work on neatening those drawers and getting stuff put away. Those boxes took a while to accumulate. You dont have to empty them in one day (especially the paper ones). Do what you can handle. We will cheer you on.

Today I went through a basket on my desk that I have used to hold receipts. It was hard, some of these went all the way back to the summer of '14 when S was sick so there were some triggers in there.
I was saving a lot of these in a vain attempt to keep up with my book-keeping ala DA requirements. Just couldn't do it.
Also realized that there would be no way I could do anything with these for deductions anyhow.
After going through them to make sure there was nothing in them I really needed, they have all gone into the burn pile bag.
Empty basket now.

angela I'm sorry those receipts etc. were painful to go through, but WTG for getting that basket emptied. I got rid of a huge pile of old mail yesterday, stashed in my bureau - now I have a bag over an inch thick with personal papers to shred, but the cute little desk area's empty. Now, 3 lower drawers need to be dealt with. Fortunately I've gone through it already so it'll be easy to sort/toss these things. I bought a smaller accordion file, for all the household bills & receipts. How practical! I also opened yesterday's mail as soon as I brought it into the house, so I won't get stuck in this mess going forward.

I'm really enjoying reading about all the B's getting sorted and tossed/put away. And "barnacle", what a great description, for the things that appear when we're not paying attention, and have so much trouble getting rid of. Diane

I opened a basket (fishing creel) of winter wear and realized that except for 3 pairs of gloves, they were all DH's. I've put the gloves outside to air and will offer them to ELH. The basket will be put in my storage building, as I love it and use it for different things from time to time. It is out of the bedroom.
Now I'm pondering what to do with a bag of fabric and a dress that dd wanted me to fix. I have accumulated excess fabric lately, plus churned and brought in a lot from the storage bldg. It has to go somewhere and that somewhere is NOT in my bedroom. Furthermore, I do not have space in the sewing room for it either. Hmmmm, hard choices.
I've also found a shoebox with a brand new pair of DH's shoes, never worn. That box will go to the thrift store tomorrow.

cyn - that's a great description - barnacles! Yesterday, I got rid of some of the barnacles in the corner n the kitchen. 1 square foot of them. Also, cleared some that had accumulated in front of the cabinet in the utility room/laundry room. I had already tossed a box in front of that with assorted things in it - nothing really in there an old wash cloth, a rag, I don't remember what else, but, I am trying to get rid of as much stuff as possible. I did find on top of the cabinet a bucket full of plastic bags. I put them where they are more easily accessible for me to fill. I have literally filled 100s of plastic bags with trash and with donations since I joined here about 10 months ago. This site is a huge help to me. I am so thankful for it. I have learned so much. I am constantly learning new, better ways to keep going, and the encouragement I receive here is priceless to me. Yesterday, I finished putting together the bird feeder stand and filled the assorted bird feeders that I bought. I hope the birds find it and use it. I have a shepherd's crook one with 3 places and put hanging baskets of flowers on 2 of them. The other one has 4 places, so far 3 bird feeders are on it. One on the other one. They are attractive in my yard.

I spent a number of hours this week out in the sun, pulling weeds. I keep thinking that "weeds" belong here on this thread, but they aren't "Bs". So I think I've resolved that question: Badweeds, Bigweeds, Bloomin'weeds. Does that count here?
I've been putting them into a 5-gal. Bucket as I go, too. I think I've pulled about 26 gallons of Badweeds this week.
