Okay, I stayed up too late again, but I am really happy with today. I think I got more done today, and worked more steadily than I have on any one day in a very long time. Tomorrow I have walks plus I have a new data entry assignment, so I will not get as much done, but right now it feels possible to make some good progress if I can keep going.
I went in to look at the plants tonight, and I see that a little lithops plant that arrived with a bud, has opened it up into a tiny yellow flower--about 1/3 inch across. I didn't think it would open up because shipping plants in dark boxes for 3 days usually disrupts them, but it did open up. I don't get any flowers from succulents here since the plants aren't getting strong sunlight--so this is probably the only one I'll see, but it's really cute and made me happy.
Good night everyone, see you in the morning!

Up really early.....made coffee and ready to throw in a load of laundry. It is going to be a long day, I should go back to sleep.
Clothes set out to pack. Need to toss in last minute items like toothbrush and toothpaste and contact lenses and medications.
Diane - how lucky to have a bloom! Sounds like your plants have settled in nicely

Good morning ohblondie! Do you leave on your trip tomorrow?
I'm eating breakfast and thinking about what to do today. The rain predicted for tomorrow is bad timing for my book plans, but I'll just have to adjust things.
I have 2 hours before leaving for my walks.

The one I did yesterday included a finished basement. We live in an area where many homes have finished basement. So a 2500sf becomes almost 3300sf. I work almost 6 hours on it yesterday. The last company did not notice that doors get dusty. They spent the last few years ignoring door dust. I spent a long time Cleaning doors. White 6 panel doors are a luxury. Each ridge was covered in topsoil!! Not kool.
It's a project. Over all they did the basics thank god. I just have an eye for detail. I'm not doing your laundry, making your beds etc. I am there to clean the home. Some people get the two confused. Housekeeping is different.

Laundry is ready to go I made 2 coffee. Sam's had starbuck pumpkin spice on sale. It's such a nice smooth coffee the half n half makes it yum. Tons of recycling to go out Overall a mess but I'll chip away at it.
Its really nice out. 68 degrees.
Any questions on my jobs, feel free to ask. I have separated what I do for a living with how I live so I will give straight forward answers!

Oust, the question I always have about house cleaning is how you charge. It sounds like you gave them a quote to get a certain amount of work done, based on how long you thought it would take--but what if a house is extra dirty and takes longer--do you charge more that visit and tell them it's because the extra dirt took longer? Or do you work the number of hours you estimated and then leave something else undone? For example, if you had to spend a lot of time on the doors yesterday, doesn't that mean that it took you longer than you thought it would?
My feet hurt. After my regular walks, I came home and was here about 10 minutes when the client from the second walk called me and asked if I could possibly go back and turn off the alarm, the company called them and said it was going off. Now, I KNOW I set it correctly, I always say the word STAY out loud as I push the button so that I remember afterwards that I did it!
But what happened was that they are having trouble with the alarm going off at weird times, so they were keeping it off all the time. Of course, they didn't tell me that, and they must not have told their cleaning service about that either, because I guess the cleaners were there earlier in the morning and turned the alarm on when they left. So when I got there, it was on.
This family frequently leaves the house and forgets to the turn the alarm on, and at the beginning I would write a note each time saying that the alarm was off so I left it off--I have no way of knowing if they left it off on purpose for some reason, or by accident. Finally it happened so many times that I just left them a note saying that from then on I would leave it as I found it--if on, I would turn it on when I left, if it was off when I got there I would not set it when leaving.
So, I found it on, and didn't know it was supposed to be off, because they didn't tell me. So I turned it on again when leaving.
Anyway, I had to walk back there and turn it off.
Now I have to sit and rest my feet, and eat lunch.

I hate alarms. Such a pain.
So I decide how long the job should take. If its dirty I leave others things and tell them after this is why I left this etc. But look how this came out. I know how long it takes by the sf # of bathroom and what is in the bathroom. It just takes experience
