Yes it does Diane! That sofa was the last piece of furniture, by the way, that I would call squalorous. It was super old and worn and the fabric was torn.
I have been hanging on to it because I have been planning on moving for years already, and I never knew it would take this long to actually move. I always thought it's smart to get rid of the sofa before the move because a) it would make my moveing easier and b) I could buy a new sofa that would fit perfectly to my new home. today that terrible sofa is finally gone!
Hope you have a good day! Of course same goes to everyone else who is reading!

OnTheMend, I had to laugh when you said your sofa was squalorous--mine was the same way, and it was one of the pieces of furniture that I could not take apart and throw away--it's still in the condo. It always had to be covered because there were stains from cat vomit on it that I could not get out. And I never felt like I could get rid of it because the animals loved sleeping on it, and I didn't want to spend the money to get a new one. I'm glad you could finally say goodbye to it!
Okay, ready to get to work.

Diane my sofa also had to be covered AND my late dog probably had peed on it too. I am looking forward to buying a new sofa for my new home in the coming months. Since my last post: TA DA! I am so proud of myself. I went home last night to feed and play with the dog. I went down to the basement and cleared out a 6x6 area next to the wall. The first thing I did was put a load of the clothes that were on the floor, in the washer. I picked up a huge bag of trash and put it in the trash can. I bagged up some bottles and cans. I rescued my sons things that were in the messy pile. I even vacuumed the heck out of that square. I then started stacking boxes of my sons things against the wall in that cleared out area. My goal is to keep clearing out more room and stacking his boxes there.
I am keeping his HS tshirts and football tshirts and his school "spirit" apparel. I am keeping all of his sports jerseys. I am donating (or selling) the shirts and such that are in the pile that he wore to HS. His style and size has changed since then and I doubt he would ever wear them again or even miss them.
I have several boxes down there as well. They are work related boxes from when I moved offices. Also items for the church FB market place site. I need to be strong with my stuff and release it just like I am releasing his stuff.
I am hoping that creating a wall of boxes will create enough room to walk through the basement and give me room to sort other stuff.
Hopefully the clothes I washed last night are dry enough to pack up and allow me to wash another load tonight. I also need to track down some larger boxes. what I had downstairs got donated to church to pack up after the rummage sale.
If I can stick to this and get the basement area cleaned up - it will be such a motivator.
And man - that basement is damp. I need to get a hose to get the dehumidifier hooked back up

I am starting to get tired. It's 7.30 PM here and I have been working something or another all day, most of the time out of my comfort zone. I will still try to do something productive today, fill out more applications at least.

You have earned your tiredness, OnTheMend! It sounds like a good sort of tired: you worked hard and long, you got done what you needed and wanted to do, and you are even closer to your goal. And good riddance to your ugly sofa!

Bad news - my favorite go to place for lunch is closing tomorrow. it is owned my a woman/veteran. she makes healthy vegan, gluten free, dairy free - what ever people want. With all of the local offices closed and people working remotely - it just killed her business. I just ordered my last lunch there. I will now have to pack it in - but I will save money and calories I am sure.
Other bad news - my favorite thrift store that I can walk to over lunch is reopened. Double ugh because so many people cleaned out their closets over lock down and they have lovely things. But the good news is - I can start taking my better items there. I think all of that stuff from my son will go there.
other than that I am slowly plodding away at work. Not much sleep last night as my dad had a difficult night. I slept on the sofa to be closer to their bedroom - but my mom did not know that. She kept going to my room (slowly with her walker) and kept wondering why she could not find me. Don't know how she missed me on the sofa when she walked back.
OK - enough stalling

HI everyone! OnTheMend you accomplished a lot! (...) Today I am really scattered. My brain is in pieces! I am feeling happy because it is my daughter's birthday! her friends put a big sign in our yard, and I had bought some yard signs too. But I have a lot to do. Today there is a surprise little gathering of her friends and then we will go out to dinner. Family party is Saturday I just have so much to do to get ready and my head feels fuzzy. I made a list and I'm not yet checking it twice. Mostly need to get house cleaned all party food and stuff do a little gardening - though that is unlikely. The torrential rains recently killed most of the flowers in two little beds. I had wanted it to look good for the party... (...) so far I have done some picking up and putting away, and some paper filing/shredding/recycling I had a big stack of papers on the dining room table related to an unpleasant task that I need to do. I was thinking I would have to stop and spend an hour or so working on that task when I realized I could put them in a drawer and get to it after the weekend. I don't have to leave it out in a messy pile! I did not want to stash and dash but this is really just picking up and putting away also did a little weeding now into shower and then we'll go run some errands related to party Thank you! I think you prioritized correcly by putting the papers in the drawer. Maybe set a reminder on Monday to take the papers back on the table, where you can work on them. Good luck with everything! One step at a time!

My friend, who is interested in few of the furniture pieces I am not taking with me to the new home, is coming to see them tomorrow. I hope she takes them all, they are all solid wood. I hope she takes one of my plants too and all the plant supplies I am not planning on taking with me (I already tossed many).
What's better, when she learned that I need to pick up my evening gown and buy packing supplies tomorrow, she offered to meet me at the town and drive me back. This helps a lot as the moving supplies take lot of room and would be cumbersome in a bus.
I think I have the best friends! <3
So I have now used time to plan tomorrow's schedule with this friends, and I also received an email from one of the rental agents I have sent application to, asking me to fill in more forms etc, so I started to do those tasks he asked me to do so I can email him back asap.
