Good morning everyone!
The dog has been out, I can already tell it's going to be warmer today. Of course, there was never any rain yesterday, and now today they're saying possible thunderstorms--I will believe it when I see it, not before.
Sue, I totally sympathize with the plant loss. There was a stand of about 10 trees between an alley and a business where I would sometimes walk the dog--not really old ones, the largest trunk was maybe 6 inches across. One day I walked through there and saw someone had cut them down. I just stood there in shock--I can't imagine why they cut them down--it was a totally unused green area behind a business, it kind of seemed like it would be city property but I'm not sure. The trees were not bothering anyone, they were not old and damaged, they didn't have roots pulling up a sidewalk, it's not an area where they could build something--they just cut them down for absolutely no reason. It really bothered me, and now I try not to walk in that direction because every time I see the cut tree trunks I get depressed. The more I get into my pollinator/conservation/interdependency of nature mindset, the more opportunities for pain there are, because not enough people understand any of that and the world is not going to survive much longer with only a tiny percentage of the population caring about it.
And on that cheery note, I will finish my breakfast and plan my day...

Thanks Diane. I think I got about 3 hours of sleep. Yes, I'm starting to learn that most people have no compassion for any plants, including trees.
We used to have a nice line of tall pine trees here along my backyard property line. Over 50 of them. ☺ One day they started cutting them down. I dont know who. There are only 14 left. 😟
I've watch the park cut down at least 30 trees. Really? It's ok... It's only a park.... 😒
I feel the same way about old buildings. My childhood home is gone. Both grandmas' homes are gone. My dad's old workplace is gone....... 😞
The old feedmills are gone.
Is something wrong with me??

Good morning PS!
Sue, I mourn old buildings too, I understand that sometimes buildings sometimes get too unsteady to stand (and trees die or become diseased and can't stand anymore) so some will be lost. I just hate to see good ones go before they need to. I think the old buildings are beautiful and have such character that the new ones don't. And sometimes they tear down a sturdy building to put up a quick cash high-rise condo that they cut corners on and that collapses with no warning, like the one in Florida. What a tragedy that is--there have to be many people who were killed that they just don't know about yet.
Sue, when I start to feel the loss of nature I go home and attend to my houseplants, and focus on the little parts that I can do something about, it makes me feel better.
My grocery order came, I put away the frozen stuff. There was a brief period of clouds and I hoped that maybe it really would rain but no, it looks like the sun is coming out again.

I am unsure why some people almost have a compulsion to cut down trees. My dad falls into that category and it drives me CRAZY. His reasons are always so stupid for cutting down a tree. I have planted three trees on our property I. Recent years. We have a small yard, so only have room for maybe one more.

good morning all I feel the same way about trees and plants. I always say these plants don't know they are weeds .... and this year I had to have four huge trees removed due to the trees dying, storm-damaged or dead and being a danger. I was so sad. I felt horrible. even worse over the past year my town has cut down hundreds and hundreds of beautiful old pines in a park. I used to love to drive down this one street as it was just rimmed by these majestic pine sentinels and in the winter with the snow dusting them, it was breathtaking. now they are all gone. I called the town to protest but to no avail. and old buildings -- several years ago the town took down the very first blacksmith building dating from our founding! I tried then to help save it ... and around that same time they removed one of the very first churches....such a loss. yesterday I received more disappointing news on a different thing and was very hurt but I was so exhausted from the disappointing news of the day before, that I was just pretty muted. took puppy for a walk and she is just a living breathing joyful loving girl. a good way to cope. also went grocery shopping last night. several people on this thread have commented they have no energy -- yesterday on my lunch hour I drove to the grocery store and I just could not do it, I just sat there, I had no energy to get out and rush a shopping trip. I took peaceseeker 's advice and I did a version of R and R for me, I drove out to the next town and the farthest reaches of my town, which is pretty rural w forests and some smaller farms and just drove around and took in the sights. today is the due date for big scary work project! I think we are in good shape but will be glad when this day is over related to that project, as this deadline is firm. we had one big project being rushed through and I said I would not "press send" on it until a certain part was confirmed and operational even though others were pushing. sure enough after hours I rec'd a text saying this one key component was not done and had not even been started .... So far today, I just had one meeting. puppy is sleeping in which is nice for while she is joyful and loving she is high energy and demanding play with me play with me play with me I hope to use my lunch hour today to clean out my car and even go vac it. between our fast paced lives and puppy and DD sports gear, it is a mess! have a good day all

Diane - thanks! I hope so!!!! TwinkleToes I totally get the lack of productivity due to family dynamics. I "lost" so much time due to stress and anxiety and sadness and anger all mixed together over the last two days. hope your massage helps. big scary project is 90 cent done! One pesky PITA thing has emerged and the people that I need to give me information on out of the office....and one thing is fairly simple, then it will be done. Miracle - Puppy is still asleep! She was up very early two days in a row, and I think she needed the sleep. She does not want to go in her crate anymore at night so when I say it is time (she understands the word "crate" ) she runs to the door. I don't know for sure if she has to go to the bathroom and I don't want to send her to bed needing to do that, so I let her out. then she runs around outside wildly barking! So I get her back in and she is so sweet she eventually walks to her crate. With the cats and with her puppy desire to eat and chew just about anything, I can't have her roaming at night at this point. she needs a secure spot. she does just then sleep through the night

Bree, how old is Puppy now? I wish I could come over and play fetch with her, I miss doing that--and my dog has no clue how to play at all, it's sad.
I watched a forecast by a weather person, she is sure we will still get rain today, and it does look like the radar picture is showing yellow and red spots popping up out of nowhere, so I will still hope for rain--things are way too dry here.
One more list before lunch:

Good afternoon everypony!
I will mourn along with you. I live in one of the fastest growing counties in GA, and with every new subdivision comes the murder of an entire ecosystem. I hate it. The only good news around here is the streams and rivers are protected. Strangely enough the watershed is the most ecologically diverse on the PLANET! a bunch of interesting little fishies. fortunately the conservationists include the outdoor enthusiasts. the 50' of protection pisses off the builders, but so what. My subdivision has no HOA, so there are a lot of wild spaces.
At my tdoc appt this morning she suggested structuring my day to correspond with the predictable high and low times. my "golden hour" is in the morning, that is when I am at my most optimistic and creative. I start heading downhill at 3:00, and don't really revive until 7:00 pm. so that is a good time for mindless tasks like cleaning.
the caveat to this is if I can get myself into a project especially filming.
DONE: dressed tdoc coffee check online balance x2 pay bills x2 check email check messenger and reply

Good afternoon scholar!
Thank you TT, I am really enjoying both the plant project and the files--I'm almost finished setting up all the important file categories in the new file cabinet and that makes me feel better, that I'll be able to find things needed. And I'm almost done with the plant room, which amazes me because I wasn't sure I'd get the whole thing done by July 6th!
We had thunder for a while, which upset the dog, but no rain until just recently when it drizzled for about 5 minutes and then stopped...
I'm eating lunch and nearing the end of a book I took from the library about making a bee-friendly garden. Oddly enough, given the conversation here today, there was a chapter about various garden styles, saying how one type now fashionable is the minimalist garden, which is mostly paving and gravel with a few accent plants--which of course, does even less for bees than the typical lawn cover with a few non-native annuals along the edge.
The author says "Plants are living things, each with a unique physiological method of interacting with the world, each with a distinct cycle of growth and reproduction, and with an inherent beauty generated from these factors. When we walk through gardens filled with living things, we experience this on deeper emotional levels, rather than just on the aesthetic plane."
So while sterile geometric shapes of gravel or paving or metal or perfectly trimmed lawn may please the eye, there is no heart to gardens like these. Sort of like a minimalist room that has exactly 2 pieces of furniture and one modern sculpture--uncluttered and easy to clean, but devoid of life and character?
Okay, time to get back to work.

Finish lunch Wash more dishes 10 minutes on file project 10 minutes on plants

I'm still reading Agatha Christie, and there are always comments about gardens falling into disarray because not enough gardeners since the war, etc. One of my regrets in life is not visiting the gardens in Japan.
DONE: a short walk listened to affirmations, etc caught up with the neighbors did HP homework and posted about it
I need a plan.
