Hoppy New Year! cause it will be the year of the Rabbit on the 22nd!
I am feeling discombobulated--I think because I haven't been making plans for myself, so end up being drawn into others' agendas. It is SUNNY today--a break in the midst of maybe ten days of crazy rain. San Francisco got five inches yesterday! DVD took Santa and the Reindeer down this morning while I was sleeping in at my folks. DM didn't want me to leave. DVD wanted me to come to his DM's at noon for steak. I need some time to myself! but he will probably be back this afternoon.
My new housework/dancing shoes arrived yesterday. They are light and flexible with a split sole and a pattern on the bottom that makes it easy to spin. I am ready to start moving my body again.
So today: I guess I can continue the list I made yesterday. I will go retrieve it.

Hello scholar and reve!
I am going to be very busy for a while--the book site that I have been waiting for for a year or more has finally launched. It's going to be similar to the one that stopped operating a few years ago, the one that had lists of books I read and told me which book was next in the series. Since it's a new site I'm going to have to put in all my favorite authors AND the books I've read by them, which is going to take forever. But I'm so thrilled that this site is finally here, I really needed it.
I'm going to have to make sure I don't spend 12 hours a day on it, inputting all my book data...
I had lunch and took the dog out twice, because the first time she didn't do anything, so I waited for her to whine again (which she did in about 20 minutes) and then had to take her out all over again.
I also worked on more goals for the challenge, which I'm going to have to pare down because all my old goals are still on the list too since I didn't finish most of them.

DMil is doing better since her surgery as far as her heart goes... but she has pneumonia. They just did a CT scan. More steroids needed, etc.
DS is much better! He will be on meds for a much longer time, but his fever seems to be gone & nausea much better. Couch is still bad & will be there for a while...
Wrapped present that was sent to me to give to DMom. I offered to do it and I'm glad that I did. I also made & wrote a little card/note for them.
DH and I visited DMom. She was sound asleep when we got there. It took a while, but she did perk up. Sang 3 songs & she joined in a little for a couple. More than usual.... She liked the gift. It is a Fidget hand muff. The one she was given is like a dog. It worked perfectly for her as she started fidgeting with things on it, and was interested in it. These Fidget type things/dementia toys, blankets, pillows seem perfect for her. This is her first one. I suggested a dementia blanket or pillow for her for Chanukah. DSil & DrBro chose the dog hand muff for her. I also dropped off a couple pairs of the new socks from them, too. If they fit her, I will bring the rest over there.
re: card that I made -- Mom almost read the first word & was able to read the word "love". So sad to see her like this. She used to love to read...
DH went to lunch afterwards. Then, we went to pastry/bakery shop & bought dessert for tonight's dinner. Slices of cakes: Tiramusu, chocolate, Black Forest, and Mocha. (a total of 8 of them...).
I'm already so sleepy from waking up so early. I could use a nice nap & am afraid that I won't be good company for the dinner, tonight.

Happy new year, everyone!
I'm impressed with everyone's accomplishments and positive attitudes!
I have been working on preparing a room (hereafter LR for "Long Room", one of those 'bonus rooms' over the garage) to be painted (then painting it -- or at least touching up much of it, then painting a little entry way into it. Hope to finish it all by tomorrow night, which may be a lofty goal).
Washing LR walls, still in process.
Spackling nicks, scratches, etc on LR walls -- nearly done (some deeper holes still drying; will do second round tomorrow morning). Sanded several areas that I spackled ages ago and never finished -- this is the story of my life, everything an unfinished symphony.
Shop vac around baseboards (I had a total hysterectomy on Dec 14 so I'm not allowed to use an upright vacuum for two more weeks).
Removed most face plates from switches.
Other random bits: Removed trash in a kitchen trash bag from bedroom and bathroom. Put a few dishes in the dishwasher. Cleared off kitchen table (really trying to keep on this as a 2023 resolution).

that's exciting, Diane! I know how much you missed that site. That is very kind of you, but please don't be impressed. I did this ill-considered thing -- relisted a room in our house on Airbnb. Trying to bring in some more income this year to help our DD and new granddaughter. And, of course, preparation is taking far more time, energy, and effort than anticipated.

Hello PS, and CP!
Cando, your MIL can't catch a break, I hope the pneumonia is gone soon.
I talked to my decluttering client for a while, and finalized my challenge goals. I also spent too long doing a jigsaw puzzle on line...I miss doing physical puzzles and there is just no surface area here (all surfaces are covered with plants...) so the online one is a lot of fun.
It's time to take the dog out and start getting ready for bed. Goodnight everyone, see you in the morning!
Diane
