happy friday! have not posted since wednesday early day! welcome marg ! WTG so my weds was so overbooked - worked, left to take DD to dentist, then zipped to hair appointment, then zipped to book club and by the time I arrived home I was exhausted. I snuck a dog walk in there too and it was raining so steadily that my winter coat, which I thought was waterproofed, was drenched and I even had to change my shirt! I was then in a super grumpy mood on Thursday, but I had a work holiday lunch which helped get me out of my miserable state I am working from home today. I have a lot to do but I have kept up with the usuals of trash out, litter cleaned, dishes done, paid some bills. I also finished the 2022 challenge! now off to the 2023. I just want a neat and orderly house! today at work I had three meetings which kind of ate up the day, but got a little project out the door. just put a load of laundry in which is already ready for the dryer. I also did the dishes and took puppy to daycare - when I told her "daycare" she did a little leap and pranced so happily to the door! I want to work on my finances and my dining room table. My beleaugered table was Christmas wrapping central, mail sorting, finances and bill paying, and working at home space, so it is such a chaotic mess that it is giving me stress. making little progress here and there but just want to reclaim it back today!! ohblondie hope you feel better ClimbingPyramids wow having an airbnb guest! impressive

Hello PS!
Marg, you are so right, doing things every day or at least most days is the key--you are doing great!
I just had to take the dog out again--this is not the best day for her to have to keep going out since my feet are really sore, but, I guess when you have to go you have to go.

Wow--is this typical? I don't think I've heard of such a long break, of course, it's been many years since I was in college or even talked to college students!
I had dinner and am almost ready to go downstairs for the evening. Good night everyone, see you tomorrow in the weekend thread!

I'm updating because I like things in one place. Haven't posted here all this week, so this is be a bit long... copying & pasting some from another thread. Jan. 3, Tues. 6 glasses of water Last night, couldn't sleep well & felt sick & unfortunately... due to that... I wasn't able to do anything after work. I started getting a headache & kept passing out on the couch. fed dog & gave her meds. Dieted successfully Work was not good, today. My boss wasn't very nice, today... Very stressful day mainly due to the way he was... After work, found out that DH scheduled a Structural Engineer coming to our house, early in the morning. Ugh! No energy to try to straighten up the house even a little bit. I knew we needed to have one come to see if we have a foundation issue, etc But, this was very sudden. It had me quite freaked out due to the condition of my house. Going to try to be out of the house before the Engineer gets here. DH will be meeting the Engineer. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Jan 4, Wed Altho embarrassing, I have great news from the structural engineer. We do NOT have a foundation problem. Yay!!! This means we can get the greatly needed repairs done on my home. We do need to do a few things like gutters & downspouts, a new drain, etc.
Went thru today's mail Reviewed Mom's LTC info - we are getting close to the end of it. DH took bag of trash to outside can 5 papers, 1 jar & 1 bottle into recycle bag Read over some other information re: one of Mom's financial things. Dieted successfully, today. -- well, close enuf. Drank 6 glasses of water. Emptied kitchen trash & replaced bag Work was okay, today, other than boss suddenly micromanaging things & going thru co-workers desk while he was gone & doing some of co-workers work. Also, questioning me about things that co-worker is doing... & wanting me to handle speaking with co-worker about some of the things that boss wants done differently. Didn't get a couple main things done that he had really wanted me to do due to him interrupting so often & having to constantly switch gears. It's okay, tho, as he wasn't angry with me about anything... and I work for him, so I'll do whatever he wants me to do... right? Unless I feel that something is morally wrong, it's a job & if I don't do it... someone else will do the job. Made meal plans for tomorrow Researched something for my youngest brother. He reached out to us for some help.
Watched a movie with DH. Not one that I would have chosen but it was very good. Called “Big Game”. We both liked it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Jan 5, Thurs. Binged during lunch when I had to go to a store to buy a couple things for work. Snack food like chocolate peanut butter wafer bars & a can of Diamond honey roasted almonds. I finally stopped myself from eating them & did not put them in my car to bring home. In fact, I left them in the extra office for the staff to eat. I don’t intend to eat anymore of them. Why did I do that?! It’s like I was possessed at the store when I bought them & especially when I ate them! Have no idea why I did it. Just wasn’t thinking about my goals. I have no idea really! Stress maybe?
Worked late, then picked up DH & took him to pick up his vehicle from dealership. After that, it was pretty late -- about 8:30pm. We had very late dinner and special dinner at a steakhouse. A couple weekss ago, we had talked about how long it had been since we had a good steak. I had mentioned that when he gets paid by a client for a whole year of full time work, that he should choose when & where he wants to go to celebrate with a nice steak dinner.
So, we ended up having 5 huge things to celebrate that happened in the last couple weeks & he suddenly chose last night. 1) Got paid by his client. 2) Got car back that we had loaned to DS’s Fil. We finally got it back after about 4-5 months! Even if it was given back in bad condition, at least we finally got it back. (This was someone that we knew in advance was not trustworthy, but for peace in the family & the hope that people can change … we loaned it. So, we just wish that he had just been up front with us so that we’d know these things, but, no.... We can’t get in drivers door so won’t pass inspection, poor repair of something that broke while he had it that we would have fixed but instead he had a friend or someone do it & they did a poor job that knocked the air conditioning out of whack & it’s not working— we will have to have that repair redone & now the air conditioning fixed, & he must have bumped it with another of his vehicles cause it has a paint mark on it & scrape where you can see down to the metal. This was a very nice car when we loaned it to him. However, even with inability to drive it right now & need to put it in the shop, we are thrilled to finally have it back!!!! I'm pretty sure that I wrote about this already -- he ended up buying a brand new, very nice expensive SUV or Van... 3) Finally not only got an Engineer out to our house but a great report. No need for foundation repair!! 4) Finally got a good plumber out, & he replaced & fixed the temporary repairs that were made in Feb. 2021 when part of our house flooded due to 2 pipe bursts from cold, bad weather & no electricity for a week. Yes, from about 2 years ago!!! 5) Got our other vehicle back from the delearship after 3 months!! Had to have transmission replaced. We weren’t in a hurry for it when we dropped it off, but never believed it would be months before we'd get it back, & suddenly no drivable vehicles at one point. This was a newer vehicle. The dealership had to even bring us a loaner last week! Anyway, with supply issues... they finally got the transmission in & were able to fix it.
So late when we got home. Fed dog & gave her meds, & remembered to take out my contacts before going to sleep. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Jan 6, Friday Didn't feel well early this morning & headache continued all day. Woke up 6am. Work was okay today. Little stressful, but managed to get 1 big project completed. One that I'd been working on & off on for several days. After work, still not feeling very well. Drank 6 glasses of water. Yay! Spent an hour researching some of DMom's medicare supplement claims. CD

Thanks so much, bree! I still can't believe I pulled this off. Now I need to have that accomplishment, rather than completely exhausting me as it has since guest arrived, motivate me to work on my own massive clutter in my bedroom.

Wow--is this typical? I don't think I've heard of such a long break, of course, it's been many years since I was in college or even talked to college students! Our university started a winter term in January that was brilliant. Pushed start of Spring semester to last few days in January. It provided great flexibility -- we could focus on publishing, or rest, or teach a class (DH and I taught a study abroad course in Costa Rica in January 2020 -- yep, got back home just before everything changed). Then it was cancelled due to COVID and will likely not return. Still makes me mad and sad.
